  • The objective of this study is to understand the generation mechanism of sound and to develop a prediction method for the unsteady flow field and the acoustic pressure field of a centrifugal fan. Lowson's method is used to predict the acoustic pressure in a free field. A DVM(discrete vortex method) is used to model the centrifugal fan and to calculate the flow field. In order to compare the experimental data, a centrifugal fan and wedge introduced by Weidemann are used in the numerical calculation and the results are compared with the experimental data.

  • We study a conceptual numerical model on shock-vortex interaction setting an impulsive shock in a compressible vertex. Navier-Stokes equations are solved for the investigation of interactive structure and acoustic wave propagation. The rotationally symmetric vortex enforces two compression-expansion pairs resultantly forming a quadrupolar shape. These compressive and expansive waves cylindrically propagate to the far field and turn to acoustic waves. Using a fine uniform Cartesian grid system and a TVD-high resolution method, the flow data irl: precisely obtained to extend our interest to the sound source.

  • It has been shown that the vibrational response of a tire can be represented by a set of decaying waves, each associated with a particular cross-sectional shapes, in the region near the contact patch. Thus, it can be concluded that tires can be effectively modeled as lossy waveguides. It has also been shown that the sound radiation from tires is mainly from the region close to contact patch.   • The noise radiated by the rotary compressor for a room air-conditioner was investigated experimentally. Noise characteristics and structural eigen modes of the compressor were identified through sound tests and modal tests each other. From these tests. we found that the accumulator has a big contribution to the noise radiation. So, various structural modifications for the accumulator were performed and these modification methods were found efficient to the noise reduction from verification tests.

  • In this paper, the sound radiation level of parts of a O.B. Motor was measured and analyzed by the measurement method using wave-guide reverberation environment. Based on the above measurement results, a noise control was established for engine cover and exhaust silencer and its effects were compared and analyzed. The noise control method increased transmission loss by painting GELNAC on the engine cover and extend exhaust pipe to reach under water.

  • In present study, it aims to compare the noise and vibration characteristics between magnesium alloy and steel hood panel. The AZ31 magnesium hood panel was fabricated through warm forming process, and the noise and vibration characteristics between both hood panels was compared through the measurement of engine radiation noise and transmission loss, as well as FRF on modal analysis. The sound insulation performance of magnesium alloy was wholly superior to that of steel hood panel, even though the transmission loss of magnesium alloy is lower than that of steel due to mass effect primarily. The FRF characteristics on modal analysis indicates that the resonance frequency of magnesium hood panel is remarkably increased to higher value than that of steel hood panel. The radiation and interior noise of magnesium panel even without acoustic hood insulation were remarkably lower than those of steel hood panel with acoustic insulation, in particular, at a range below 4,000 rpm.

무한 평판 주위에 형성된 수중 기포층의 방사소음 감소 효과 (Noise Reduction Effect of an Air Bubble Layer on an Infinite Flat Plate)

  • The mixture sound speed in bubbly fluids is highly dispersive due to differences of the density and compressibility between bubbles and fluids. The dispersion range in bubbly fluids expands to a higher frequency than the resonance frequency of an air bubble. A theoretical model was developed to compute the reduction of radiation noise that is generated by a force applied on an infinite flat plate using a bubble layer as a compliant baffle. For evaluating the effectiveness of a bubble layer in reducing the structure-borne noise of an infinite elastic plate, the noise reduction levels for various parameters such as the thickness of bubble layers, the volume fractions and the distribution types of bubbly fluids are calculated numerically. The noise reduction effect of an air bubble layer on an infinite flat plate is considerable level and similar to the tendency of dispersion of bubbly fluids. It is recommended that the thickness of a bubble layer should be increased with keeping an appropriate volume fraction of an air bubble for the most effective reduction of the radiation noise.

NAH기법을 이용한 공조용 컴프레서 소음저감 응용 (NAH method for reducing sound source generated in air-conditioning rotary compressor)

  • 본 논문에서는 공조용 로타리 컴프레서에서 발생하는 소음을 줄이기 위하여 음향 홀로그래피를 이용하는 방법을 다룬다. 소음이 방사되는 것을 음향 홀로그래피를 이용하여 정상적인 컴프레서와 문제가 있는 컴프레서에 대하여 측정하였다. 음향 홀로그램은 2가지 컴프레서의 다수의 격자점에서 측정 및 예측하였고, 컴프레서 표면 위로 재구성하였다. 2개의 마이크로폰을 사용하여 1344개의 측정 점에서 측정을 수행하였고, 그 중 1개의 마이크로폰은 스캐닝용이고 또 다른 하나의 마이크로폰은 레퍼런스용이다. 음향 홀로그래피는 소음원을 그래픽적으로 보여주기 위한 좋은 도구이다. 본 논문에서 컴프레서의 표면에서 소음 원 위치를 정확히 찾을 수 있었고, 그 소음원은 소음을 발생시키는 부품과 관계된 것이었다. 음향 홀로그래피는 가전제품에 대해 소음 저감 방법으로서 유용함을 알 수 있다.

  • 란주반 트랜스듀서에 의해 강제 진동되는 원형 진동판으로부터 방사되는 음장의 분포를 해석하기 위하여 L. Rayleigh에 의해 도출된 진동 원판의 운동방정식을 기초로 구동 영역 및 고정 경계영역의 경계 조건을 적절히 적용하여 이론적 해석모델을 도출하였다. 도출된 해석모델을 이용하여 진동 원판의 표면에 분포하는 진동 변위를 계산하고 이로부터 방사되는 초음파에 의해 형성되는 음장을 계산한 결과, 진동 원판의 넓이에 따라 방사 특성이 크게 변함을 확인할 수 있었다. 비교를 위하여 유한요소법인 COMSOL 프로그램을 사용하여 동일한 시스템에 대한 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과 이론 계산 결과와 좋은 일치를 보여 본 연구에서 도출한 이론적 해석모델의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 도출한 이론적 해석모델은 초음파 화학분야 등 관련 디바이스의 설계 및 개발에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

액티브 머플러를 이용한 자동차 배기계의 능동소음제어 (Active noise control with the active muffler in automotive exhaust system)

  • This study experimentally demonstrates the use of active muffler attached to the automotive exhaust system to reduce exhaust noise. For improving the signal to noise ratio in the process of estimation of secondary path transfer functions, the on-line algorithm that conventional inverse modeling is combined with adaptive line enhancer is used as the control algorithm. Active muffler is designed that the primary noise and the control sound are propagated as a plane wave in the outlet. Therefore, the error microphone could be placed out of the tail pipe center of a high temperature and the radiation noise to the outside could be reduced in the whole area around the outlet. The control experiment for reducing exhaust noise with active muffler is implemented during run-up at no load. From the experimental results presented, compared with the conventional off-line method, the proposed on-line method is capable to acquire a reduction of exhaust noise above 5 dB in overall sound power level.
