  • In this paper, a simplified model is studied to predict analytically the radiated noise from the helical gear system due to an axial excitation of helical gear. The simplified model describes gear, shaft, bearing, and housing. To obtain the axial force of helical gear, mesh stiffness is calculated in the load deflection relation. The axial force is obtained from the solution of the equation of motion, using the mesh stiffness. It is used as a longitudinal excitation of the shaft, which in turn drives the gear housing through the bearing. In this study, the shaft is modeled as a rod, while the bearing is modeled as a parallel spring and damper only supporting longitudinal forces. The gear housing is modeled as a clamped circular plate with viscous damping. For the modeling of this system, transfer function from the shaft to the clamped plate are used, using a spectral method with four pole parameters. Out-of-plane displacement for the thin circular plate with viscous damping is derived and sound pressure radiated from the plate is also derived. Using the model, parameter studies are carried out.

고부가가치선의 Unit Cabin Mock-up을 이용한 캐빈소음 저감 연구 (Cabin Noise Reduction Using Unit Cabin Mock-up of High Value-added Vessel)

  • Unit cabin means room, which is installed in the high value-added vessel such as drill ship, offshore platform and FPSO, after pre-assembled. In order to develop the noise control design for a unit cabin, a variety of acoustic tests such as sound absorption, transmission and radiation measurements were carried out by using the deckhouse mock-up. From the tests, it was found out that the sound transmission loss between cabin and corridor was 13 dB below than FPSO standard and the combined noise level of the unit cabin was dominated by the radiated noise from wall panel in low frequency range. Based on the test results, design guidelines for the noise control of the unit cabin were fully established, such as the improvement of sound transmission loss between the cabin and corridor, and radiated cabin noise reduction.

  • This paper investigates the filtered velocity feedback(FVF) controller for the reduction of the acoustic power radiated from a clamped beam. The instability problem due to the non-collocated sensor/actuator configuration when using PZT actuator should be sorted out. The roll-off property of the FVF controller at high frequency helps to alleviate the instability. The dynamics of clamped beams under forces and moments pair and the FVF controller are first formulated. The formulation of the sound radiated power is followed. The open loop transfer function(OLTF) synthesized with 100 modes is used to determine the stability of the control system. The control performance is finally estimated. The levels of the vibration and the sound radiated power are reduced in the wide bandbelow the tuning mode of the FVF controller.

  • Analogous problem for a gear dynamics where helical gears excite logitudinal forces in the shaft is studied. These shaft forces excite the supporting gear housing through bearing, causing structural vibration. In this study, shaft is modeled as a rod, and bearing is modeled by a massless spring. A simple model for gear housing is a clamped circular plate. To model this force transmission, the transfer functions from the shaft to a clamped circular plate are analytically derived by using the spectral method and four-pole parameter. Finally, radiated noise is computed, using the acoustic relations due to plate surface vibration.

  • Power flow finite element method(PFFEM) combining power flow analysis(PFA) with finite element method is efficient for vibration analysis of a built-up structure, and power flow boundary element method(PFBEM) combining PFA with boundary element method is useful for predicting the noise level of a vibrating complex structure. In this paper, the coupled PFFE/PFBE method is used to investigate the vibration and radiated noise of the unmanned underwater vehicle(UUV) in water. PFFEM is employed to analyze the vibrational responses of the UUV, and PFBEM is applied to analyze the underwater radiation noise. The vibrational energy of the structure is treated as an acoustic intensity boundary condition of PFBEM to calculate underwater radiation noise. Numerical simulations are presented for the UUV in water, and reliable results have been obtained.

  • Ship radiated noise is an infortant parameter which dtermines Anti Submarine Warfare(ASW) countermeansure or passive Sonar detection and classification performance. Its measurement should be performed under controlled ocean acoustic environment. In data reduction of the measured data from hydrophone array, theeffect fo ambient noise, surface reflection and bottom reflection etc. should be compensated to obtain the source level of the ship radiated noise. This study describes the measurement hydrophone array design criteria based on the analysis of transimission anomaly due to the surface reflection.

  • 최근 친 환경 발전에 관한 관심이 높아지면서 태양광, 풍력, 조력, 조류 발전에 대한 수요가 점차 증가되고 있다. 이러한 친 환경 발전 방식 중 조석운동에 의한 해수의 흐름을 이용하는 조류발전은 지형적 특성에 의해 강한 조류가 발생하는 지역에서만 사용할 수 있는 특수한 발전 방식이다. 울돌목 해역은 조류 발전이 가능한 매우 강한 조류가 형성되는 지역으로 다른 지역의 해역과 구분되는 특별한 환경을 제공한다. 하지만, 해양에서의 인간의 활동은 수중소음을 야기하여 해양환경에 큰 영향을 미친다. 최근에는 환경영향평가의 중요성이 대두되면서 발전소 가동 시의 소음 특성 분석 및 전파양상 예측에 대한 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 조류발전소의 수중소음 특성을 측정하고 울돌목 해역으로의 전파양상을 모델링 하였다.

수중실험을 통한 원통구조물의 3차원 수중방사소음 패턴 산출기법 분석 (A Analysis on the Estimation Method of the 3D Underwater Radiation Noise Pattern of Cylindrical Structure with the Underwater Experiments)

  • In this study for the prediction of 3D underwater radiated noise pattern, a comparison between the proposed method(DHIE, Discrete Helmholtz Integral Equation) and the 3D underwater radiated noise calculation results using the measurement of near-field acoustic pressure data is performed. The near-field acoustic pressure in water is measured for the calculation of the far-field radiated noise pattern and the far-field acoustic power. Also the vibration field of the underwater structure is measured in simultaneously. Using the total far-field acoustic power and the vibration field on the surface of the structure, the proposed method(DHIE) can predict the underwater radiated noise pattern of the far-field The predicted results show the reasonable agreement within about 5dB comparing with the experiment result.

Aerodynamic Noise Prediction of Subsonic Rotors

  • Numerical prediction of aerodynamic noise radiated by subsonic rotors are carried out. A computer program has been developed which incorporates both the discrete frequency noise as well as the broadband noise arising from the ingestion of turbulence. Acoustic analogy is used in conjunction with Homicz's formulation of turbulence ingestion noise. Formulation 1A of Farassat is used to enhance the numerical analysis performance of Ffowcs-Williams Hawkings equation by eliminating the numericla time differentiation. Homicz's trubulence ingestion noise prediction technique is used to understand the characteristics of broadband noise radiated by isotropic trubulence in gestion. Numerical predictions are carried out for a number of rotor configurations and compared with experimental data. Monopole consideration of transonic rotor agrees well with both the experimental data and the linear theory. Noise radiation characteristics of rotor at lifting hover are investigated utilizing simple blade loading obtained by thin wing section theory. By incorporating discrete noise prediction of steady loading with broadband spectrum, much better agreement with experimental data is obtained in the low frequency region. The contributions from different noise mechanisms can also be analyzed through this method.
