  • When 60Hz AC voltage supplied to a falty insulator, Radiated EM wave has characterized time distribution with the arrived periodicity. For classifying distribution feature, receiving frequency and bandwidth of radiated wave be experimented and determined. Since the spectrum of the radiated wave has broad bandwidth and time-variable statistics, the receiving quality is determined receiving bandwidth that has above 900kHz.

  • We examine the problem in which porous/viscoelastic compliant thin plates are subject to pressure fluctuations under transitional or turbulent boundary layer. Measurements are presented of the frequency spectra of the near-field pressure and radiated sound by compliant surface. A porous plate consisting of 5mm thick, open-cell foam with fabric covering and a viscoelastic painted plate of 1mm thick over an acoustic board of 4m thick were placed over a rigid surface in an anechoic wind tunnel. Streamwise velocity and wall pressure measurements were shown to highly attenuate the convective wall pressure energy when the convective wavenumber ($k_{ch}$) was 3.0 or more. The sound source localization on the compliant walls is applied to the measurement of radiated sound by using an acoustic mirror system.

  • The effect of the joint condition of automotive muffler shell and baffle on radiated noise from muffler shell Is studied. Shell vibration characteristics, especially shift In natural frequency and change in of response amplitude, was identified from finite element analysis and modal tests for various joint conditions between shell and baffle. When there is heat expansion and inner pressure from the exhaust 9as in the muffler with elliptical cross section, the shell expands out, and construct gap with baffles. This gap causes more degrees of freedom of shell vibration and natural frequency shift. By welding the muffler shell to the baffles or using a dual shell muffler, the radiated noise problem could be mitigated supplying more a rigid joint and damping, respectively.

  • Unit cabin means room, which is installed in the high value ship such as drill ship and FPSO, after pre-assembled. In order to develop the noise control design for a unit cabin, a variety of acoustic tests such as sound absorption, transmission, and radiated noise measurements were carried out by using the mock-up of living quarter. From the tests, it was found out that the combined noise level of a unit cabin could be dominated by the radiated noise from wall panel in low frequency range and the design guidelines for the noise control of unit cabin were fully established, such as the improvement of sound transmission loss between the cabin and corridor, and radiated cabin noise reduction.

  • Differential signaling has become a popular choice for high-speed interconnection schemes on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), offering superior immunity to external noise. However, conventional differential transmission lines on PCBs have problems, such as crosstalk and radiated emission. To overcome these, we propose a Twisted Differential Line (TDL) structure on a multi-layer PCB. Its improved immunity to crosstalk noise and the reduced radiated emission has been successfully demonstrated by measurement. The proposed structure is proven to transmit 3 Gbps digital signals with a clear eye-pattern. Furthermore, it is subject to much less crosstalk noise and achieves a 13 dB suppression of radiated emission. • Full wave electromagnetic simulation or fabricated models of an antenna are used to predict its radiation characteristics. In this work estimation of radiated power of an antenna based on its electrical model is presented. The computed radiated power using the electrical model have good agreement with the radiated power results obtained through the full wave electromagnetic simulation of the antenna model. The presented approach offers the advantage of saving of computation time of the full wave EM simulation.

  • Insulation diagnosis techniques of power equipments for the stable power supply and prevention from accidents are of high importance. Diagnosis techniques is able to prevent from large accidents before they happen by finding signs of the accidents. From this point of view, this paper simulated discharge progress and partial discharge using needle-plan electrode system in air, studied the distribution of frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves using biconical antenna and spectrum analyzer. From results of this study, the new method was introduced for measurement and analyzation of the radiated electromagnetic waves in accordance with discharge progress in air, Besides, according to the consideration of the mutual relation between frequency spectrum of the radiated electromagnetic waves and discharge progress, it was confirmed that detecting partial discharge and estimating discharge progress were possible.

  • In this paper, VHF(30~230[MHz]) electromagnetic waves radiated from partial discharge(PD) at two-type electrodes in air are measured and the peculiar patterns of their spectra are reported. Also, the polarization and distance characteristics of electromagnetic wave rediated by PD, were investigated. In case of epoxy insulator in inserted, the noise level of radiated electromagnetic waves is 0.6~6.2[dB] higher than the case in air at below 90[MHz]. The frequency spectrum distribution of radiated electromagnetic waves appears different in the whole frequency range according to the arrangement of antenna.
