  • In order to simulate and visually observe combustion phenomena in cylindrical radial-flow porous inert media, a radial multi-channel burner, made of transparent quartz plates, was fabricated. Flame stabilization characteristics and its pulsating instability in the burner were experimentally investigated with respect to various mixture flow rates and equivalence ratio. As a result, five different flame behaviors, such as stable flame, pulsating instability, sudden extinction, blowout and unstable extinction, were observed. Mean radial position of circularly arranged multi-flame and its averaged burning velocity were measured and then compared to the freely propagating flame. The multi-flame pulsation frequency is about several tens of Hz and it is supposed to be generated by the heat diffusion enhancement to cold pre-mixture by the intensive gas-solid interaction.

  • Misalignment of recording head position results in inter-track interference (ITI), which is a primary factor limiting radial(track) density in current digital magnetic channels. This paper proposes a multi- channel adaptive PRML for digital high-density recording channels, and compares it with the conventional single-channel PRML in the presence of ITI for the per- formance evaluation. Simulation results show that the proposed method removes ITI effectively when heal-misalignment occurs, then improving its performance significantly as compared with the single- channel PRML. As a result, it is confirmed that multi-channel adaptive PRML is well suited for high-density recording in digital magnetic channels.

Transient full core analysis of PWR with multi-scale and multi-physics approach

  • Steam line break accident (SLB) in the nuclear reactor is one of the representative Non-LOCA accidents in which thermal-hydraulics and neutron kinetics are strongly coupled each other. Thus, the multi-scale and multi-physics approach is applied in this study in order to examine a realistic safety margin. An entire reactor coolant system is modelled by system scale node, whereas sub-channel scale resolution is applied for the region of interest such as the reactor core. Fuel performance code is extended to consider full core pin-wise fuel behaviour. The MARU platform is developed for easy integration of the codes to be coupled. An initial stage of the steam line break accident is simulated on the MARU platform. As cold coolant is injected from the cold leg into the reactor pressure vessel, the power increases due to the moderator feedback. Three-dimensional coolant and fuel behaviour are qualitatively visualized for easy comprehension. Moreover, quantitative investigation is added by focusing on the enhancement of safety margin by means of comparing the minimum departure from nucleate boiling ratio (MDNBR). Three factors contributing to the increase of the MDNBR are proposed: Various geometric parameters, realistic power distribution by neutron kinetics code, Radial coolant mixing including sub-channel physics model.

  • We propose two new types multi-stage blind clustering equalizers for QAM demoulation, which are called a complex classification algorithm(CCA) and a radial basis function algorithm(RBFA). The CCA uses a clustering technique based on the joint gaussian probability function and computes separately the real part and imaginary part for simple implementation as well as less computation. In order to improve the performance of CCA, the Dual-Mode CCA(DMCCA) incorporates the CCA tap-updating mode with the decision-directed(DD) mode. The RBFA reduces the number of cluster centers through three steps using the classification technique of RBF and then updates the equalizer taps for QAM demodulation. Test results on 16-QAM confirm that the proposed algorithms perform better the conventional multi-state equalizers in the senses of SER and MSE under multi-path fading channel.

  • 본 연구에서는 타이어의 동적설계의 기초자료를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 해석적 방법으로는 복합막트로이드 유한요소를 이용하여 타이어의 고유진동수 및 진동 모우드를 구하였으며, 그 정확성을 입증하기 위하여 멀디찬널 F.F.T.분소기를 이용한 실험적 결과 및 G.R. Potts의 해석결과와 비교하였다.

  • 신경의수를 제어하기 위해서는 사용자의 의도를 인식하는 신경신호 디코딩이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 다채널 말초 신경신호의 실시간 디코딩 방법을 제안한다. 말초 신경신호는 정중신경과 요골신경에서 측정되었으며 운동잡음은 국소 근사 다항식에 의해 제거되었다. 다음으로 활동전위는 k-평균 알고리즘으로 분류되었다. 특징벡터는 활동전위의 발화율로부터 추출되었으며 자기 조직화 특징지도를 통해 차원이 축소되었다. 마지막으로 다층 퍼셉트론으로 손동작을 분류하였다. 원숭이 실험에서 모든 신호처리가 실시간 제한조건 이내에 완료되었으며 높은 성공률로 손동작을 인식할 수 있었다.

  • The flow characteristics of an intermittent fuel injection into a stationary ambient air were investigated using gasoline. The measurements were made by two-channel, air cooling type Phase Doppler Anemometer(PDA) system (DANTEC, 750 MW). And a pintle type injector of MPI (Multi-point Port Injection) system was utilized as a fuel injector. The PDA receiver optic was set up in a 60.deg. C forward scatter arrangement to obtain the optimum scattering signal of fuel droplets. The data were obtained by synchronizing PDA system with the fuel injection period, and the axial and radial velocity and turbulent components of fuel droplets were mainly measured for the analysis of temporal and spatial distribution depending upon the fuel injection pressures.
