프로파일링한 테이퍼 로울러의 탄성유체윤활 해석 (An Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Analysis of Tapered Roller with Profiled Ends)

  • Tapered roller bearings are widely used in high axial-load and radial-load applications. In this study, a numerical analysis is performed to study a finite line contacts EHL problem between a tapered roller and raceway in tapered roller bearings. Converged solutions are obtained for moderate load and material parameters using a finite difference method with non-uniform grids and the Newton-Raphson method. The contours and sectional plots of pressure distribution and film shape are compared. The pressure distribution and film shapes near both ends of the roller are very different from those in the central part and are transversely asymmetric. The maximum pressure and absolute minimum film thickness always occur at the small end of the roller.

  • A reasonable analysis of cutting force in end milling may give much advantage to improvement of productivity and cutting tool life. In order to analyze cutting force, the cutting dynamics was modelled mathematically by using chip load, cutting geometry, and the relationship between cutting forces and the chip load. Specific cutting constants of the cutting dynamics model were obtained by average cutting forces, tool diameter, cutting speed, feed, axial depth, and radial depth of cut. The effects of the cutting conditions on the specific cutting force constants in milling were studied. The model is verified through comparisons of model predicted cutting forces with measured culling forces obtained from machining experiments

  • The natural frequency measurement of passenger car tire under the load and rotation are studied. In order to obtain theoretical natural frequency and mode shape, the plane vibration of a tire is modeled to that of circular beam. By using the Tickling method based on Hamilton's principle, theoretical results are determined by considering tension force due to tire inflation pressure, rotational velocity and tangential, radial stiffness. Modal parameters varying the inflation pressure, load, rotational velocity are determined experimentally by using frequency response function method. The results show that experimental conditions are parameter for shifting of natural frequency.

The results showed good agreement and from that we could predict reasonably the cutting forces in end milling.

  • Measurement of the friction force of vane tip have been made to provide essential information for the study of the pump dynamics, the pump design and the analysis of triboligical problems in the sliding components. The influences of the radial load, rotating speed and frequency of vane on the friction forces of vane tip have been investigated. The results indicated that the friction coefficient of vane tip are affected by the rotating speed remarkably but the effect of acting load on the vane tip and frequency of load are very small. The stribecks diagram shows that the lubrication regime of the sliding point of vane tip is mixing lubrication.

  • The effect of initial combined load on the lateral free vibration of arches is investigated. For the analysis, P-M interaction curves for the arches are obtained. The arches are circular arches which have constant cross-section and simply supported. Also, the arches are subjected both radial uniform distributed load which results in an axial compression on the cross-section and end moments that cause uniform bending action at the same time. All analysis are performed by finite element method based on Kang and Yoo's curved beam theory.

  • The restraint force is required an accurate measurement and analysis to protect weldment from residual stress. Also, this residual stress caused by clacks in weldments are often observed in the weldments of large size nozzles or radial tanks after welding. This paper is preformed on the study of evaluation of welding restraint forces using load cell with STS thin plate which are using pressure vessel steel in the industry field. As a result of this study, as the welding currents are higher and the welding speeds are more slowly, the magnitude of restraint force in process of the flat plate welding hows to be more large. Also, the temperature in process of melting is increasingly rising, then the restraint forces exhibit the compressive forces, whereas the restraint forces during cooling represent extensional force.

  • The authors have developed a solution method based on the incremental algorithm. The optimal load balance between feeders is found through the incremental algorithm with allowing the loop configuration. Therefore loops can be configured in the resulting configuration, and then we must eliminate all loops to satisfy radiality of distribution system because the distribution system is operated under radial status. But the optimal load balance through incremental algorithm is deteriorated when the loops are eliminated. In this paper, authors propose a new method which is to improve the searching procedure of path in the incremental algorithm, that is, so as not to make loop in the path configuration.
