  • Sustainable energy generation is becoming extremely imperative due to the expected limitations in current energy resources and to reduce pollution. Especially, because of its considerable energy potential, ocean wave energy has been investigated with regard to power generation. To develop large high power wave generator system, it is important to make a small scale proto type and to test that. Thus the objective of this research is to examine the characteristics of a mechanically excited generator system having small power capacity experimentally. The water reservoir (4 m length, 1.5 m width and 1.8 m depth) having a wave maker to make arbitrary height and period of the water wave was made. The proto type consists of three main parts; a buoy, rack-pinion base one-way mechanism, and a wave generator(Fig.1). The water wave is going up and down and the hexahedron buoy is following the wave. The rack gear attached to the buoy is also going up and down to roll the pinion connected to an electric generator then it produces electricity. The experiments were performed with several conditions of water waves, and the power outputs over 30 W could be measured for some conditions. In future works, to achieve higher performance for the proto type, the effects of primary parameters (buoy shape and mass, etc.) on the system efficiency will be identified.

Experimental validation of the seismic analysis methodology for free-standing spent fuel racks

  • Spent fuel racks are steel structures used in the storage of the spent fuel removed from the nuclear power reactor. Rack units are submerged in the depths of the spent fuel pool to keep the fuel cool. Their free-standing design isolates their bases from the pool floor reducing structural stresses in case of seismic event. However, these singular features complicate their seismic analysis which involves a transient dynamic response with geometrical nonlinearities and fluid-structure interactions. An accurate estimation of the response is essential to achieve a safe pool layout and a reliable structural design. An analysis methodology based on the hydrodynamic mass concept and implicit integration algorithms was developed ad-hoc, but some dispersion of results still remains. In order to validate the analysis methodology, vibration tests are carried out on a reduced scale mock-up of a 2-rack system. The two rack mockups are submerged in free-standing conditions inside a rigid pool tank loaded with fake fuel assemblies and subjected to accelerations on a unidirectional shaking table. This article compares the experimental data with the numerical outputs of a finite element model built in ANSYS Mechanical. The in-phase motion of both units is highlighted and the water coupling effect is detailed. Results show a good agreement validating the methodology.

  • This paper studies class-based turnover assignment rule in terms of the expected travel time in automated storage/retrieval systems (AS/RS). With the rack face not necessarily in square in time, travel time models of two and three-class systems are developed, from which class partition values are determined for single command cycle. Also, the effects of the system parameters such as the rack shape factor and the skewness of the ABC curve are evaluated on the travel time through example problems.

  • This paper presents average travel time models automated warehousing system where the stacker crane transports only one pallet at a time with the tchebychev travel, I/O point is located at the cornor of the rack, and items are stored by the class-based storage assignment rule. In this study, the racks are treated as the continuous rectangle in time and a statistical approach was used to develop the models. In order to test the proposed models, average travel times determined by the models are compared with the true values for various rack shapes.

  • When designing a warehouse, one has to recognize that the number of racks in a warehouse takes on only integer value in reality. The existing solution procedures based on noninteger values may result in poor outcomes for the design of a warehouse. This paper deals with the determination of the optimal integer for the number of racks that minimize the total material handling cost associated with the warehouse. An optimum search procedure is proposed here and a number of numerical examples are used to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed procedure.

  • The electrical current generated by heart creates not only electric potential but also a magnetic field. In this paper, we have designed the multiplexing data acquisition system for multichannel bio-magnetic signal measurement. The system consists of VXI rack which is organized MUX and AD board, Industrial rack which is mounted single board computer and DSP board. This system enable to realtime monitoring of multichannel data simultaneously. The number of channel could be increased simply added each module and firmware could be upgraded easily using host port interface of DSP.

  • 전 세계적으로 수출입 화물이 급격하게 늘어나면서 기업들은 창고의 효율성 증가와 창고 인력 감소로 인해 무인 자동화창고에 대한 관심과 연구개발이 증가하고 있다. 소규모 창고에서는 재고의 흐름을 유동적으로 할 수 있는 셔틀랙 기반의 레이아웃이 빈번하게 존재한다. 그러나 셔틀랙 기반의 물류센터는 비상상황(고장, 정전 등)에서 셔틀이 작동하지 않아 물류센터 효율성과 재고관리에 심각한 영향을 미치고 있다. 이에 셔틀랙 기반의 물류센터에서 다양한 셔틀의 통로와 RTV의 통로를 레이아웃별로 분류하고 특성과 유형을 분석하여 각 레이아웃별로 신뢰성을 도출하였다. 통로의 개수에 따라 적재율도 다르게 도출되어 각 레이아웃별로 신뢰성과 적재율을 비교 분석하였다.

  • 데이터센터는 전 세계적으로 클라우드 기반 IT 솔루션의 발전과 더불어 빅 데이터, 교육, 커뮤니케이션 수단의 발달과 전자기기 사용이 증가함에 따라 국내외로 그 수요가 꾸준히 증가하는 추세에 있다. 이러한 데이터센터의 증가는 IT장비의 발전을 가속화 시켰으며 서버 랙의 발열 또한 크게 높이는 결과를 가지고 왔다. 데이터 센터의 전산 발열량은 IT서버 전력사용의 99%이상이 열로 변환되므로, 서버의 크기와 용량이 증가할수록 발열량 또한 상승하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 공냉식 냉각방식을 중심으로, 데이터센터의 에너지 절감을 위한 공조시스템을 연구 하였으며, 해당 시스템의 성능분석 및 모의실험을 통하여 실제로 에너지 절감 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 랙-피니언 시스템의 랙 치형을 핀 또는 롤러로 대체한 롤러 랙 피니언 (RRP) 시스템의 표면피로 향상방안을 고찰하였다. 우선 전위계수(profile shift coefficient)를 고려하여 RRP 시스템의 캠 피니언(cam pinion)에 대한 엄밀 치형설계 방법 및 언더컷 방지 조건을 소개하였고, 이를 바탕으로 설계인자의 변화에 따른 하중 및 하중응력계수(load stress factor)의 변화를 검토하였다. 이를 통해 RRP 시스템의 표면 내구성을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안으로 전위계수의 증가가 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.
