Recently, RFID systems are spreading in various industrial areas faster but cause some serious problems of information security because of its unstable wireless communication. Moreover, traditional RFID systems have a restriction that one tag per each application object. This restriction deteriorates their usability because it is difficult to distinguish many tags without some kind of effort. Therefore, efficient information sharing of objects based on information security has to be studied for more spreading of RFID technologies. In this paper, we design a new RFID tag structure for supporting multiple objects which can be shared by many different RFID applications. We also design an encryption/decryption algorithm to protect the identifying information of objects stored in our tag structure. This algorithm is a light revision of the existing SEED algorithm which can be operated in RFID tag environment. To evaluate the performance of our algorithm, we measure the encryption and decryption times of this algorithm and compare the results with those of the original SEED algorithm.

An RFID application needs to collect product's information scattered over the RFID network efficiently according to the globalization of RFID applied enterprises. To be informed of the stock status of products promptly in the supply chain network, especially, it is necessary to support queries that retrieve statistical information of tagged products. Since existing RFID network does not provide these kinds of queries, however, an application should request a query to several RFID middleware systems and analyze collected data directly. This process makes an application do a heavy computation for retrieving statistical information. To solve this problem, we define a new Distributed Continuous Query that finds information of tagged products from the global RFID network and provides statistical information to RFID applications. We also propose a Distributed Continuous Query System to process the distributed continuous query efficiently. To find out the movement of products via multiple RFID systems in real time, our proposed system uses Pedigree which represents trade information of items. Our system can also reduce the cost of query processing for removing duplicated data from multiple middleware systems by using Pedigree.

As the scale of RFID systems grows, decrease in recognition rate of collision between readers is becoming an issue. Time division technique may solve the problem, but this will cause total recognition time to increase. This issue must be solved for real-time inventory control. In this study, total recognition time was improved by placing ARCM in RFID systems. ARCM maintains short recognition time through efficient utilization of frequency channel and manages RFID systems to recognize the tag by avoiding interference. As the result of using ARCM, saving maximum 20% of time was possible.

Barcodes have been widely used to implement automatic identification systems but there are various problems such as security weakness or distance restriction in scanning barcode signals in a barcode-based automatic identifcation systems. Recently researchers are gradually interested in radio frequency identification (RFID) and RFID systems have been applied to various fields than before. Especially one of RFID application fields, a bank system uses RFID tagged bankontes to prevent illegal transactions such as counterfeiting banknotes and money laundering. In this paper, we propose a RFID system for protecting location provacy of a banknote holder. In addition, our paper describes that a trust party can trace a counterfeit banknote holder to provide against emergencies.

In this paper, we propose a general idea about an RFID system which provides lighted weight algorithm. We discuss how RFID could be applied for this kind of system, especially, compact protocol. We evaluate a few protocols that have been suggested for use in passive RFID tagged systems. We can reduce security computation without losing security features by message integration and pre-computation in this paper. And the proposed protocol can be used in low-cost RFID systems that require a small computational load for both the back-end database and the tags.
RFID has fundamental influences on today's business management. This research seeks to formulate the opportunities and challenges, the strengths and weaknesses and the perceived benefits of RFID implementation in three industries: manufacturing, medical-service, and distribution. Ten companies of successful RFID deployment in Korea are presented. Field interview and panel discussion were used to explore the research purpose. The core challenges include RFID readability issues, lack of best practices, increasing prime cost, visible ROI, implementation cost, and employee's resistance. The strengths include IT infrastructure, system integration competency, RFID business model creation ability, executive's support. There is little weakness in Korea companies, there are many perceived benefits in three industries. The most distinctive finding is that the visible ROI was found out in the manufacturing industry, not in the distribution industry. The opportunities and challenges, the strengths and weaknesses and the perceived benefits are some different in three industries, which provide valuable guidance for Korean companies in seeking the RFID opportunities. This case study represents a pioneer research of RFID adoption in Korea.
Global interests in RFID are increased and Korean government and companies make an active effort to propagate and spread RFID. Due to the overwhelming advantages of RFID system in comparison with existing bar code system, ripple effects on logistics sector among the utilizing fields of RFID technology are expected to be great, but application of RFID system is lowly progressed unlike the expectation of several experts. Therefore, this research extracts precedent studies on theoretical background, applying fields, promotion condition and domestic/foreign parts of RFID system, factors for operating domestic RFID system and effects and considers the effects of RFID's external variables on easiness and effectiveness of TAM. It confirms the relations of RFID applying effects for companies applying and utilizing RFID and verifies the relations among the effects for application of RFID system, accepting intention of RFID system and applying effects. Based on the results of analysis, it should play a role of good guide for all of companies and institution who will introduce RFID system to all of Korean logistics fields, make policies and systems which promote RFID acceptance nationally and socially and play a role of guide making confident climate for RFID technolog
Recently, traceability systems are introduced as a new food safety information system. To trace food products efficiently, they must have an automatic identification capability at the individual product level. This capability can be gained through RFID technology. But there is not yet any performance evaluation tool on RFID-based traceability systems (RFID-TS). This study developed an evaluation tool of RFID-TS. To develop the tool, this study considered the objective and the components of RFID-TS as their performance constructs. According to Churchill's paradigm, the tool was established through two stages. The final evaluation tool consisted of four constructs (risk, operational benefits, IS (information system), and network) and nine sub-constructs. Among the four constructs, risk and IS were found as the most important performance constructs through regression analysis. Among the nine sub-constructs, service (which belonged to the IS construct) and economic risk (which belonged to the risk construct) were found as the most important performance sub-constructs.

Because of the recent development of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies, various systems for RFID have been proposed. and it expected to become pervasive and ubiquitous. offers tantalizing benefits for supply chain management, inventory control, and many other applications. recently, however, has the convergence of lower cost and increased capabilities made businesses take a hard look at what RFID can do fer them. In this paper, We propose the real-time RFID face recognition system using Hippocampus neuron modeling algorithm(HNMA) and PCA-LDA mixture algorithm. this system store an extracted face-feature in tag and uses for individual authentication.

Reverse logistics is the process of planning and controlling the recovery flow of end of life products. Industry is increasingly being confronted with the need to solve several reverse logistics issues because of not only stringent environmental legislations but also economic reasons. Recently, thanks to the advent of emerging technologies, such as RFID, enhancing the productivity of reverse logistics operations has been highlighted. The application of RFID technology is going beyond forward logistics, which is the delivery of manufactured goods to consumers, and being expanded, though not frequently yet, to reverse logistics, which includes return, recovery, reuse, reproduction and disposal. However, it requires a deep insight for the research of reverse logistics and new environment. In this regard, we studied effectiveness by applying RFID middleware technology to reverse logistics.
