In this paper, Dual-polarized Tx/Rx antenna for RFID reader is designed and fabricated to apply to RFID reader. Each feeding network of Tx/Rx is designed to improve the port-isolation and cross-polarization, and sequential rotation feeding scheme has been applied to increase of axial ratio bandwidth. Measured results show that 2.35dBi of antenna gain in 900MHz$\sim$928MHz, 150MHz of 3dB axial ratio bandwidth, -38dB$\sim$-40dB of port-isolation, and -30dB$\sim$-40dB of cross-polarization.
This paper studies the magnetic coupling between two adjacent loop antennas that are parallel to each other in a plane and presents a new practical method to avoid the resulting magnetic coupling interference. The study focuses on the high frequency radio-frequency identification (RFID) system for casino applications, where several loop antennas are closely built into a game table to monitor gaming chips. In this case, neighboring loop antennas may severely interfere with each other by magnetic coupling, which leads to the malfunction of the RFID system. In this paper, we present a practical loop antenna with a new loop switch circuit for avoiding magnetic coupling. The loop switch circuit is integrated with a matching circuit and automatically operated by using an interrogating signal from a reader. We verified the validity of the proposed design by showing that an RFID reader with the proposed antenna can exactly and separately read the gaming chips placed on the different betting zones of a game table.

This paper presents the miniaturization of circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna for UHF-band RFID portable reader. The proposed antenna has a group of four I-slots on a conventional corner-truncated square microstrip patch and it is shown that the antenna size is reduced compared to the antenna without I-slots. A 76 mm by 76 mm small antenna with four I-slots is fabricated with 6.4 mm thick FR4 substrate and its 10 dB return loss bandwidth, the gain and the axial ratio are measured to be $938{\sim}975\;MHz$, $-0.88{\sim}-2\;dBi$, and $3.27{\sim}13.21\;dB$ within the 10 dB return loss bandwidth, respectively.

In this paper, we propose a novel structure of a spiral antenna with a CP characteristic for RFID reader in UHF band. Since the proposed antenna can be built by printing on a FR-4 substrate, it is appropriate for low-cost mass-production. The antenna is designed to operate in UHF band of $860{\sim}960$ MHz. The CP bandwidth is Increased enough to cover an overall UHF RFID band by using a spiral structure for the antenna arm. The matching bandwidth is broadened by using a quarter-wave transformer between the fred and the antenna body. The proposed antenna has advantages of its easy gain and pattern control with a small antenna size. The measured antenna performance shows the matching bandwidth of 13%, the CP bandwidth of 23%, and the gain of 6.5 dBi. This verifies that the proposed antenna is appropriate for RFID antennas in UHF band.

This paper has implemented a very small($1.4{\times}2.8[Cm^2]$) 13.56[MHz] RFID reader ensuring machine ID recognition correctly in a noise space of Tag-to-Reader within 3Cm. For operation of the RFID system, at first, this paper has designed the loop antenna of a reader and the fading model of back-scattering on microwave propagation following to 13.56[MHz] RFID Air Interface ISO/IEC specification. Secondly, this paper has proposed the automatically path selected RF switching circuit and the firmware operation relationship by measuring and analyzing the very small RFID RF issues. Finally, as a very small reader main body, this paper has shown the DSP board and software functions made for extraction of $1{\sim}2$ machine ID information and error prevention simultaneously with carrying of 13.56[MHz] RFID signals that the international standard specification ISO/IEC 18000-3 defined.
In this paper, an optimum design center frequency proposes portable RFID reader antenna that is 920MHz frequency using the Taguchi's Method. Proposed antenna is cut corner of opposite angle and it's structure that have slots in four sides microstrip patch of a perfect square shape. This slot structure can miniaturize microstrip patch antenna and confirmed through an experiment that size of antenna about 18% decreases than structure that slot does not exist. Because compact antenna that have structure of slot changes according to complex design variables, analysis and experimental design for minimization of experiment number of times are required for optimum antenna design. In this research, designed antenna that have optimum structure when introduce and designs table of orthogonal arrays of the Taguchi's Method been experimental design that can minimize analysis and experiment number of times, achieve responsiveness analysis of main elements and analyzes the effect and minimizes design repeat with analysis result. Presented experiment result about antenna special quality that permittivity is 4.4 and manufactures to board of Epoxy 3.2T.
This paper presents a $4{\times}1$ beam-forming reader antenna system for a new type of RFID based train position detection technology. The required beamwidth of the reader antenna is analytically expressed for different train speeds. The proposed antenna system consists of four rectangular patch elements and two switching couplers which are designed, without any impedance matching networks, for two different antenna modes. The switching coupler is a rectangular quadrature coupler with Pin diodes connecting its center line and the ground plane. The beamwidth of the antenna when the diodes are off and on is $18^{\circ}$ and $39^{\circ}$, respectively. The proposed antenna system will be used for a real train test in the near future.

In this paper, active integrated antenna with left hand circular polarization(LHCP) for a transmitter of UHF RFID reader has been described. A novel rectangular ring patch as a radiator of the active antenna is proposed for easier impedance matching, smaller patch size, and LHCP characteristics. An amplification circuit is placed in the opening area of the radiator and is combined with it to work as oscillating circuit around 915 MHz. From the test results, impedance bandwidth of 29 MHz, 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 20 MHz, 3 dB beamwidth of 85 degree, and effective radiation power of 8.8 dBm have been obtained.

This paper proposed a transponder detection method to reduce recognition time in RFID system. It's also shown that conventional procedure of communication in the system could cause a waste of time when a reader recognizes a transponder. The reduction of recognition time can be obtained by developing a circuit to detect a transponder actively. Detecting a transponder is achieved by using the voltage variation of reader antenna voltage that happens when a transponder approaches to the vicinity of magnetic field formed by the reader. By adding a comparator to the antenna receiver of a reader, the reader can perceive approach or existence of a transponder. A reader for experiment is made using the MFRC500 by Phillips that supports ISO/IEC 14443 protocol. Comparing the proposed method with the conventional methods by experiment, there are 47.5ms reduction of recognition time maximally and 12ms in average.
This article proposed polarization selective antenna for UHF RFID system. The proposed antenna is consist of microstrip patch antenna with dual feeding and two SPDT switches and a SP4T switch and 3dB hybrid coupler. Through control of voltage of switches, the proposed reader antenna can select horizontally linear polarization, vertically linear polarization, left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) and right hand circular polarization (RHCP). The proposed reader antenna satisfied 2:1 VSWR at 902MHz ~ 928MHz. and 3dB under AR(axial ratio). And it can select appropriative polarization with user environment and tag polarization. So it minimize PLF and increased reading distance.
