토끼 Coronary Sinus에서의 안정막 전압에 관한 연구 (Ionic Basis of Resting Membrane Potential in the Coronary Sinus Cells of the Rabbit)

  • Membrane potential of cells in the isolated rabbit coronary sinus was measured by conventional glass microelectrode and investigated the effect of $[K^+]_0$ variation in control, 20 mM and Ach-containing Tyrode solution. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The resting membrane potential exposed to normal Tyrode solution containing 3 mM $K^+\;was\;about\;-60{\sim}\;-65mV$. At extracellular $K^+$ concentrations from 1 to 30 mM the resting Potential was reasonably well described by Goldman -Hodgkin -Katz equation on the assumption that $[K^+]_1$ was 150 mM and that the ratio of membrane permeability coefficient for $Na^+\;and\;K^+,\;P_{Na}/P_K\;({\alpha})$ was 0.07. 2) In 20 mM Na-Tyrode solution (replacing by equimolar Tris) the resting membrane potential was hyperpolarized by 15 to 20 mV and showed slightly deviated to depolarized direction compared to the predicted value by Goldman-Hodgkin -Katz equation. 3) In the presence of $10^{-6}M$ Ach, the resting potentials at $[K^+]_0$ levels from 1 to 30 mM were well fitted with the predicted value on the assumption that $P_{Na}/P_K$ was 0.0144. It could be concluded that the low resting membrane potential of coronary sinus cells reflects a relatively high ratio $P_{Na}/P_K$ of about 0.07.

안정상태 뇌 대사 활성도에 반영된 정신분열병 환자와 정상인에서의 감정이입과 기분인식 관련 뇌 영역 (Empathy and Mood Awareness Reflected in the Resting-State Brain Metabolic Activity in the Patients with Schizophrenia and Normal Subjects)

  • Objectives : Empathy has been conceptualized as the ability of emotional resonance and perspective-taking. Emotional awareness has been proposed as the basis of empathy. In this study we examined the relationship between empathy and mood awareness and their neural correlates in resting-state activity in normal controls and patients with schizophrenia. Methods : Empathy and mood awareness scale scores were compared between 29 patients with schizophrenia and 21 normal controls by voxel-based t-tests and voxel-based correlation analyses of resting-state $^{18}F$-FDG PET images. Results : Empathy and mood labeling scale scores were significantly decreased in schizophrenic patients. Mood monitoring was positively correlated with empathy score in normal controls, but not in schizophrenic patients. In normal controls, empathy was positively correlated with resting-state activities in the intraparietal sulcus and mood monitoring was positively correlated with the temporal pole, frontopolar cortex, inferior temporal gyrus, entorhinal cortex and the subgenual prefrontal cortex resting activities. The orbitofrontal cortex resting activity was positively correlated with mood monitoring-related subgenual prefrontal cortex activity in the normal controls. Patients with schizophrenia showed decreased orbitofrontal resting activity and loss of its correlations with mood monitoring-related regional activities. Conclusion : This study showed that alteration in the resting-state activity in schizophrenia may reflect dysfunctional empathy and distorted characteristic of emotional awareness. However, the resting-state activity may not reflect the relationship between emotional awareness and empathy.

Mouse Egg의 안정막전압과 Pump 활동에 대한 양이온의 효과 (Effect of Cations on Resting Potential and Pump Activity of Unfertilized Mouse Eggs)

  • The present study was performed to observe the effects of cations on resting membrane potential and pump activity in the unfertilized eggs of ICR strain mice. After an induction of superovulation, the fresh eggs with zona pellucida were collected and the membrane potentials were recorded. Recordings of membrane potential in this study was obtained from the physiological conditions ($37^{\circ}C$ and 4mM Ca in standard solution), differently from the another reports with unphysiological conditions (room temprature and high Ca in standard solution) for a stable and long-lasting observations. Presented data was obtained within 6 hours after collection from the oviduct. The results observed are as follows, 1) Resting potential of the unfertilized eggs was $-25.8{\pm}3.8mV$ $(Mean{\pm}Se,\;n=31)$. 2) As the K ion concentration was increased, resting membrane potential was depolarized but showed hyperpolarization with $K^{+}$ below 25mM. 3) Alteration of the resting membrane potential for the changes of $Na^{+}$ concentration were hardly observed, while resting potential was hyperpolarized as $Ca^{2+}$ concentration was increased. 4) Pump activity as transient or prolonged hyperpolarization was $-2.29{\pm}0.75mV$ $(Mean{\pm}Se,\;n=16)$, the hyperpolarization was increased in both amplitude and duration under the 10mM $Ca^{2+}$ solution. 5) Hyperpolarization due to pump activity was decreased or disappeared by $5{\times}10^{-5}\;M$ ouabain treatment and could not be observed under the both Na-free and Ca-free solutions. 6) Above results are likely to suggest that the resting potential of the mouse unfertilized eggs is affected to mainly by Ca-dependent K conductance and Na-Ca exchange mechanism and that there is pump activity coupling between $K{+}$, $Na^{+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$.

저작근 및 경부근에서 압력통각역치와 기능시 근활성도 간의 관계 (Relation between Pressure Pain Threshold and Functional Activity in Masticatory and Cervical Muscles)

  • This study aimed at evaluating tile relationship between pressure pain threshold(PPT) and electromyographic(EMG) activity in 30 healthy volunteers and 30 patients with temporomandibular disorders. PPTs were determined with electric pressure algometry over masseter, temporalis anterior, sternocleidomastoid, and trapezius muscle during resting and clenching. To obtain more reliable result, two examiners measured PPTs two times on each muscles, randomly. Resting and clenching EMG activity and tenderness of all muscles were measured to evaluate the relationship with PPTs. The collected data were processed by SAS/STAT program. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Pressure pain thresholds in tendered muscles were lower than those in non-tendered muscles. This tendency was more prominant in masticatory muscles than in cervical muscles and in clenching than in resting. 2. There ware a tendency of higher PPTs in unaffected side than in affected side, but there were no significant difference statistically. 3. There wert no difference of PPTs between in preferred side and in ipsilateral side, significantly. 4. There was a significantly positive correlation between resting and clenching PPTs, but there were no correlation between PPTs and EMG activities. 5. Comparison of EMG activity between in higher group and in lower group by resting PPTs didn't show any significant difference. But resting EMG activity in the higher group of clenching PPTs were lower, on the contrary, clenching activity were higher than those in lower groups of clenching PPTs. From this results, the author concluded that the clenching PPTs was more important than resting PPTs in diagnosis of muscle dysfunction. And the author recommanded that all of three following test were performed for the proper diagnosis and treatment of orofacial Pain : muscle tenderness, EMG activity, and PPT.

Optimal Conditions and Substrate Specificity for Trehalose Production by Resting Cells of Arthrobacter crystallopoietes N-08

  • Recently, we found that Arthrobacter crystallopoietes N-08 isolated from soil directly produces trehalose from maltose by a resting cell reaction. In this study, the optimal set of conditions and substrate specificity for the trehalose production using resting cells was investigated. Optimum temperature and pH of the resting cell reaction were $55^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.5, respectively, and the reaction was stable for two hours at $37{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ and for one hour at the wide pH ranges of 3~9. Various disaccharide substrates with different glycosidic linkages, such as maltose, isomaltose, cellobiose, nigerose, sophorose, and laminaribiose, were converted into trehalose-like spots in thin layer chromatography (TLC). These results indicated broad substrate specificity of this reaction and the possibility that cellobiose could be converted into other trehalose anomers such as ${\alpha},{\beta}$- and ${\beta},{\beta}$-trehalose. Therefore, the product after the resting cell reaction with cellobiose was purified by ${\beta}$-glucosidase treatment and Dowex-1 ($OH^-$) column chromatography and its structure was analyzed. Component sugar and methylation analyses indicated that this cellobiose-conversion product was composed of only non-reducing terminal glucopyranoside. MALDI-TOF and ESI-MS/MS analyses suggested that this oligosaccharide contained a non-reducing disaccharide unit with a 1,1-glucosidic linkage. When this disaccharide was analyzed by $^1H$-NMR and $^{13}C$-NMR, it gave the same signals with ${\alpha}$-D-glucopyranosyl-(1,1)-${\alpha}$-D-glucopyranoside. These results suggest that cellobiose can be converted to ${\alpha},{\alpha}$-trehalose by the resting cells of A. crystallopoietes N-08.

청주지역 중학교 휴게·편의시설의 배치 및 공간구성 연구 (A Study on Arrangement and Space Layout of Resting·Convenience Facility for Middle Schools in Cheongju Region)

  • As the issues such as safety, hygiene, convenience of school facility from the perspective of living environment for students and teachers arise as an important task in recent, there is increasing concern for resting convenience facility in school. In recent, the government is planning to change middle high school into the departmental classroom system. The departmental classroom system refers to the school operation system in which the classroom is structured as a subject-specialized classroom and the students move to the classroom according to their class schedules. This departmental classroom system is advantageous in that each subject can be equipped with professional facilities or preparations; the usage rate of the classroom can be enhanced; the common study space or living space can be used substantially; the school can plan and operate its own specialized space. On the contrary, it has the weaknesses that there is need to prepare the home base for the guidance of the class or student guidance; there is need for the facilities including personal lockers. Thus, the departmental classroom system requires the space expansion for home base or the resting convenience space for students and thus has to provide various spaces. Under this background, it is also important to check and plan the resting space for the schools. Therefore, this study is aimed to examine and analyze the arrangement location and space Layout of the resting convenience space among school facilities to propose the architectural data for future resting/convenience spaces for the schools.

韓國産 Culex pipiens에 관한 硏究: 1. Culex pipiens pallens Coquillett 의 吸血 및 休息習性 調査 (Studies on Culex pipiens Mosquitoes in Korea 1. Feeding and Resting Behavior of Culex pipiens pallens Coquillett)

  • Studies on the feeding and resting behavior of Culex pipiens pallens, a possible vector of Japanese encephalitis in Korea, was carried out at Kobu-Ri, Kobu-Myon, Chongup Kun. Cholla Pukdo in 1967. 1. Indoor and outdoor human biting collections showed that 47.3 per cent Culex pipiens pallens were collected indoors and 52.7 per cent outdoors. 2.Feeding occurred throughout the night from dusk to dawn, with the peak period from 23:00-24:00 hours outside the house and from 24:00-01:00 hours inside. 3. Culex pipiens pallens females preferred man for their blood feeding to domestic animals. The results of human and cow biting collections showed that the feeding ratio between man and cow was 2.1 to 1. As to the feeding preference to the domestic animals, the ratio among cow, pig and horse was 7.3 to 5.1 to 5.4 4. Daytime resting collections showed that large numbers of Culex pipiens pallens females rest inside the house, especially in the bed room and the chicken pen. As temperatures increased, fewer mosquitoes resting indoors and more mosquitoes rest ing outdoors were caught. By means of sweep-net collections at outdoors resting places, a small number of Culex pipiens pallens mosquitoes were caught in such places as grass fields, vegetable fields, barley fields, bean fields, culverts, bomb shelters, and so on. A comparison between number of mosquitoes collected resting during the day in bedrooms and verandahs with resting collections in the same places at night showed that more mosquitoes were present at night. It was observed that the majority of the unfed females rested before feeding at night.

복부 및 사지 부위의 전기침 자극이 전두근에서 측정한 SEMG 변화에 미치는 영향 - 자율신경계의 변화에 대한 임상적 접근을 위한 사전 연구 - (Changes of Surface Electromyography on Frontalis Muscle during Electro-Acupuncture Stimulation of Abdomen or Legs - A Pilot Study for Clinical Approach to Autonomic Nervous System Changes -)

  • Objectives : To observe physiological changes during clinical acupuncture treatment. Methods : We recruited 40 healthy volunteers who had experienced an acupuncture treatment at least once within the past three years. The experimental group was divided into four groups according to the needling site and frequency of electrical stimulation. Sites consisted of abdomen and legs. Frequencies consisted of 100 Hz and 2 Hz. The procedures of experimental treatment consisted of seven phases, Resting I phase (Resting I), Needle insertion phase (Insertion), Maintenance of needle insertion I phase (Maintain I), Electrical stimulation phase (ES), Maintenance of needle insertion II phase (Maintain II), Needle removal phase (Removal) and Resting II phase (Resting II). We measured the surface electromygraphy (SEMG) through an electrode on the frontalis muscle during all phases consecutively. Results : When SEMGs of all seven phases were analyzed, they significantly increased or decreased according to phases. SEMGs of Insertion, Maintain I, ES and Maintain II phase significantly increased more than RestingI in abdomen and legs groups. SEMGs of the abdomen group were measured as being $4.78{\pm}0.74{\mu}V$ on Resting I, $16.48{\pm}3.97{\mu}V$ on Insertion, $46.31{\pm}10.56{\mu}V$ on Maintain I, $45.88{\pm}9.72{\mu}V$ on ES, $45.56{\pm}9.69{\mu}V$ on Maintain II, $18.76{\pm}3.05{\mu}V$ on Removal, and $3.75{\pm}0.65{\mu}V$ on Resting II. SEMGs of the legs group were measured as being $3.34{\pm}0.35{\mu}V$ on Resting I, $12.11{\pm}1.76{\mu}V$ on Insertion, $36.74{\pm}6.99{\mu}V$ on Maintain I, $33.57{\pm}6.30{\mu}V$ on ES, $32.66{\pm}6.03{\mu}V$ on Maintain II, $14.08{\pm}2.15{\mu}V$ on Removal, and $2.88{\pm}0.32{\mu}V$ on Resting II. Conclusions : SEMG changed differently according to processes of acupuncture. Electrical stimulation showed different change of SEMG. Thus, acupuncture treatment may change the status of the autonomic nervous system.

넙치 및 돌돔 자어 사육에 있어서 Brachionus plicatilis와 B. rotundiformis 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer의 먹이효율 (Dietary Value of Neonates from Rotifer, Brachionus plicatilis and B. rotundiformis Resting Eggs for Flounder and Parrot Fish Larvae)

  • 넙치(Paralichthy olivaceus) 및 돌돔 (Oplegnathusfasciatus) 자어를 대상으로 각각 B.plicatilis와 B.rotundiformis의 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer의 먹이효율과 지방산 조성을 대량배양한 rotifer와 비교 조사하였다. Rotifer 내구란은 Chlorella와 빵 효모를 먹이로 공급하여 $1~4m^3$에서 생산하였다. B.plicatilis와 B.rotundiformis 내구란은 $5^{\circ}C$ 암내장 상태에서 각각 3개월과 5개월 동안 보관하여 $28^{\circ}C$ 연속 조명하에서 부화시켰다. 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer와 대량 배양한 rotifer(대조구)를 자어에게 공급하였다. B.rotundiformis 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer를 공급한 돌돔자어의 성장과 생존률은 대조구와 비슷하였게 나타났고, B.plicatilis 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer를 먹은 넙치자어의성장과 생존률은 각각 대조구에 비해 비슷하거나 높게 나타났다. 또한 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer의 지방산조성은 대조구와 비슷하게 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 볼 때 내구란에서 갓 부화한 rotifer는 넙치 및 돌돔 자어의 먹이로서 이용 가능하다고 판단된다.

환수 및 공기공급에 따른 담수산 rotifer, Brachionus calyciflorus의 내구란 대량생산 (Mass Production of Resting Eggs by the Freshwater Rotifer, Brachionus calyciflorus Pallas with Exchange of Culture Water and Supplemental Aeration)

  • 본 연구는 통기방법과 배양수의 환수에 따른 담수산 rotifer B. calyciflorus의 내구란 형성을 조사하였고 0.5 톤 수조에서 내구란 대량 생산을 수행하였다. 산소와 공기를 공급한 실험구에 있어서 rotifer의 최고밀도와 유성생식률은 차이는 없으나 수정률과 내구란 형성은 공기를 공급한 실험구가 산소를 공급한 실험구보다 높게 나타났다. 배양수의 환수간격에 따른 실험에서 환수를 하지 않은 실험구가 rotifer 최고밀도와 내구란 형성은 환수를 한 실험구(매일 환수한 실험구)보다 높게 나타났지만 내구란 생산의 효율적인 측면에서 Chlorella 건조중량당 내구란 형성은 환수를 한 실험구(매일 환수한 실험구)에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 또한 0.5톤 수조에서 내구란의 총 생산량은 $51.8{\sim}57.9{\times}10^6$개로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때, 공기를 공급한 batch 배양이 담수산 rotifer, B. calyciforus의 내구란을 대량생산하는데 효과적인 방법인 것으로 판단된다. 또한 이종의 내구란 대량생산은 해수산 rotifer B. plicatilis와 B. rotundiformis와 비슷한 생산 효율을 보인 것으로 판단된다.
