A Study on the Thesaurus-based Ontology System for the Semantic Web (시소러스를 기반으로 한 온톨로지 시스템 구현에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to construct a system based on the semantic web environment's ontology by utilizing the ontology schema derived from the facet-type Art and Architecture Thesaurus(AAT). The aforementioned ontology schema is based on the Web Ontology Language(OWL), which is being widely considered the standard ontology language for the W3C-centered semantic web environment. Also, the concepts were limited to terms within AAT'S Furniture Facet, and the system was tested using the Chair concept, which is a lower-level facet that has a diverse conceptual relationship and broad vocabulary base. The ontology system is capable of searching for concepts, while controlling the search results by always providing a 'Preferred term' for synonymous terms. In addition, the system provides the user with first, a relationship between the terms centered around the inquiry, and second, related terms along with their classification properties. Also, the system is presented as and application example of the ontology system that constructs a information system that intakes an Instance value and reproduces it into a RDF file. During this process, utilization of multiple ontologies was introduced, and the stored Instance value's meta-data elements were used.

  • The collection and manipulation of Internet of Things (IoT) data is increasing at a fast pace and its importance is recognized in every sector of our society. For efficient utilization of IoT data, the vast and varied IoT data needs to be reliable and meaningful. In this paper, we propose an IoT framework to realize this need. The IoT framework is based on a four layer IoT architecture onto which context aware computing technology is applied. If the collected IoT data is unreliable it cannot be used for its intended purpose and the whole service using the data must be abandoned. In this paper, we include techniques to remove uncertainty in the early stage of IoT data capture and collection resulting in reliable data. Since the data coming out of the various IoT devices have different formats, it is important to convert them into a standard format before further processing, We propose the RDF format to be the standard format for all IoT data. In addition, it is not feasible to process all captured Iot data from the sensor devices. In order to decide which data to process and understand, we propose to use contexts and reasoning based on these contexts. For reasoning, we propose to use standard AI and statistical techniques. We also propose an experiment environment that can be used to develop an IoT application to realize the IoT framework.

Deployment of BIBFRAME as a New Bibliographic Framework in Linked Data (링크드 데이터 환경에서의 서지기술형식 BIBFRAME과 그 활용에 대한 고찰)

  • Library of Congress introduced BIBFRAME as a new bibliographic framework to enhance web accessibility of bibliographic records and their integration to Web of data. This study introduces BIBFRAME model and its current status, reviews BIBFRAME classes and properties, and presents a mapping between MARC21 and BIBFRAME. The study aims to help the understanding the deployment of BIBFRAME in bibliographic description. BIBFRAME categorizes bibliographic entities into Work-Instance, and employs RDF/XML and URIs to identify resources and specify semantics of the resources on the Web. It also suggests an Annotation entity to provide additional information produced by users and external organizations. BIBFRAME is significant in that it presents a new paradigm of bibliographic description and expands users' information discovery in the context of Linked Data. Continuous researches are required to support its content model agnostic application to diverse resource type, which may entail a modification of BIBFRAME model and vocabulary. It also calls for guidelines for using the complicated vocabulary in a coherent way.

  • This paper analyzes the activities and recommendations of W3C LLD Incubator group and investigates the benefits of Library Link Data through case studies. It also discusses the necessary global identification systems for developing useful LLD as well as the problems associated with linking available vocabularies with existing data sets. Ways to apply RDF, SKOS, Microformats, and RDFa to LLD are presented. the many challenges related to establishing LLD-based information services and the various barriers that prevent libraries from accepting LLD are also identified. Finally this paper presents a new LLD-based digital information system and provides some recommendations on how to promote and expand LLD in Korea.

  • 2000년대 초반 등장한 시맨틱 웹 기술은 최근 재조명을 받고 있다. 이는 초기에 구축된 시맨틱 데이터와 최근에 구축하는 시맨틱 데이터의 양적 비교를 통해서도 알 수 있다. 그러나 기존의 시맨틱웹 기술은 대용량 데이터를 처리하는데 어려움이 많아, 이를 처리하기 위한 기술이 중요한 문제로 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 앞에서 말한 바와 같이, 기존 RDF Repository의 대안으로, 다양한 데이터 베이스를 복합적으로 사용하였다. RDF 데이터를 효율적으로 처리하기 위해, NoSQL DB와 메모리 기반 관계형 DB를 활용하여 시스템을 구성하였다. 또한, 사용자가 이에 대한 별도의 지식 없이 기존의 SPARQL 질의를 그대로 사용하여, 원하는 결과를 얻을 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다.

  • Recently, the Web is becoming more difficult to manage efficiently retrieve with the increase of data. However, the retrieval systems that are currently used have not been applied to the Semantic Web technology. Thus, the development of the Semantic Web is not activated. User of the retrieval system also the Semantic Web usage is low is the situation. In this paper, we are analyzed the retrieval system that is currently being used. we are proposed added the rule of the RDF representation during ontology implementation of the retrieval system. And we propose the user-centric of retrieval system design and implementation.

  • The Information retrieval system is more accurate of the information for you want to search, and quickly delivered. But the current search system is a simple way to parse on users fail to provide accurate information. This paper describes the ontology servers retrieve information through the system. Proposed system is Semantic Web-based information retrieval techniques in addition to structured documents using a variety of formats to maximize their data processing. In addition, interoperability and data integration RDF (Resource Description Framework) for saving documents by supporting rapid and accurate information retrieval. This supports a variety of Web browsers on the Web will be utilized in the field of efficient data retrieval.

Comparison of Waste-Plastic Recycling Methods for Environmental Assessment (환경성 평가를 위한 폐플라스틱 재활용 방법들의 비교)

  • In the present work, life cycle assessments (LCA) of various waste-plastic recycling methods (material recycling, refused derived fuel (RDF), recycling on furnace, and pyrolytic oil production) were carried out to investigate their impacts on the environment. Six types of impacts were considered. While the impact on global warming was found to be significant, the impact on others were negligible. The impact values on the global warming caused by the material recycling, RDF, and the recycling on furnace were negative, which implied that their impacts could be noticeably reduced when waste-plastic are used as an alternative to newly drawn plastics. The pyrolytic oil production, however, showed positive value, which may be due to the carbon dioxide produced during electric power generation. The pyrolytic oil production had the largest impact on the ozone layer destruction, which was due to ozone depleting substances produced from the process itself. These results can be used as a useful data for the enhancement of waste-plastic recycling.

  • With rapid growth of Internet, the amount of information in the Web is increasing exponentially. However, information on the current Web is understandable only for human, and thus it makes the exact information retrieval difficult. For solving this problem, the Semantic Web is suggested and we must use ontology languages that can endow data to semantics for implementing it. One of the representative ontology languages is OWL(Web Ontology Language) adopted as a recommendation by the World-Wide Web Consortium. OWL has richer expression power and formal semantics than other ontology languages such as RDF and RDF-S. In addition, OWL includes hierarchical structure information between classes or properties. Therefore, an efficient OWL storage model considering hierarchical structure for effective information retrieval on the Semantic Web is required. In this paper, we suggest the XPOS(XPath-based OWL Storage) model including hierarchy information between classes or properties as XPath form and enabling intuitive and effective information retrieval. Also, we show the comparative evaluation results on the performance of XPOS model, Sesame, and the XML storage-based storage model regarding query processing.

A Study on Converting the Theological Thesaurus to the Ontology by Using SKOS (SKOS를 이용한 신학 시소러스의 온톨로지로의 변환에 관한 연구)

  • In order to convert a thesaurus described by a person to ontology, the first step is to translate the thesaurus to the ontology by using SKOS, which is suitable for conversion to ontology and was chose an international standard by W3C. SKOS is suitable for converting thesaurus or subject headings or classification system to ontology, but we need a web language to describe an ontology as RDF/XML. RDF/XML is so difficult to read and write that we can need RDFa embedded in HTML document or Turtle, which is more easily describable and readable. Along with description using SKOS, this research has experimentally constructed the ontology by using ontology construction program $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ 4.2. In addition to basic concept relationships of thesaurus like equivalent relationship, hierarchical relationships, association relationships transitive hierarchical relationships are included suggested by SKOS in this research.
