An analysis of trends in wetland function assessments and further suggestions (습지 기능 평가의 동향 분석 및 제언)

  • Wetland function assessment is not only a basic step to understand wetland ecosystems in detail but also an important process as a base of the term, ecosystem service to recognize wetland ecosystems as valuable and useful resources and goods for human being. WET (wetland evaluation technique), EMAP (environmental monitoring assessment program)-wetlands, and HGM (hydrogeomorphic method) were developed as pioneer wetland function assessments in U.S. at the end of $20^{th}$-century. RAMs (rapid assessment methods) became a major function assessment tool which is relatively simpler and easier assessment tool at the beginning of $21^{th}$-century. After that, the hierarchy of three levels of assessment (landscape assessment, rapid assessment, and intensive assesment) has been prepared and strategically utilized according to the objectives and purposes of function assessments. In South Korea, RAM and HGM were used to assess wetland functions with reforming a couple of items and contents at 2001. And, modified and reformed function assessments have been developed to complement and improve upon the existing RAMs and HGMs. Via the trend analysis on wetland function assessments, some needs which require supplements in terms of function assessment are pointed out: 1) wetland function assessments using useful indicators such as birds are needed with considering our environmental characteristics. 2) optimized wetland function assessments for coastal wetlands are also needed. 3) the network construction and further expansion to lead communications and co-operations between researchers and policy makers is needed in the field of wetland function assessment.

  • The Reliability started for MILitary purposes during World War II in 1942, getting more important for maintenance, safety, etc in modern society. As technologies develop, also international standards for measuring the reliability is advancing. RAMS activities for maintenance, safety verification is material to national railroad. And for this, it needs quick response for the changes of standards. Even now standards are upgrading for developing electronic technologies. Therefore analysis of failure rate's trend about such standards is judged necessary. So We submit a this paper for comparative analysis of changing process standards according to development of electronic technologies and reliability. At first, we compared actual usage ratio of standards for understanding the current state of usage. Based of these state of usage, discuss the major standard. And then, introduced reliability standards's trend, calculation method of failure rate and difference of failure rate calculation standard according to march of time. In this paper, used standards are MIL-HDBK-217F, Telcodia, etc.

  • 2차원 하천흐름. 유사이동, 오염확산 해석을 위해서는 유한요소법(FEM) 등을 활용한 수치해석 모델이 사용되며, 이 때 모델링을 위해서 모의영역은 2차원의 요소망으로 구성하게 된다. 기존 국내 연구에서는 이러한 2차원 요소망 생성 및 수치해석을 위해 SMS 및 CCHE2D와 같은 외국의 상용 프로그램을 이용하였으나, "수자원의 지속적 확보기술개발 사업"의 일환으로 수행중인 "RAMS(River Analysis and Modeling System) 개발" 과제를 통해 순수 국산 2차원 수리해석 소프트웨어가 개발 중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 RAMS를 비롯한 기타 수리해석 모델에서 사용 가능한 2차원 범용 요소망 생성 프로그램을 개발하고자 다양한 요소망 생성 기법 및 국외 상용 2차원 수리해석 모델 프로그램에서의 메쉬 생성방법 등을 분석하여 프로토타입 메쉬 생성기를 개발하였다. 현재 개발 중인 요소망 생성 프로그램은 요소망 생성을 위한 기본 기능 외에도 생성된 요소망 데이터를 RAMS에 포함되어 있는 다양한 2차원 유한요소 모형의 입력자료 형태로 변환함으로써 수리해석에 적용가능하다. 이러한 범용 2차원 요소망 생성 프로그램의 개발은 안정적인 수치해석의 기반을 제공하고 다양한 하천흐름, 유사, 수질 해석 모델과 연계함으로써 하천의 수리학적인 거동을 보다 정확히 모의할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 하천의 2차원 흐름 및 하상변동, 오염확산 해석을 위한 유체의 수치해석법에는 유한요소법, 유한차분법, 유한차분법의 변형인 유한체적법, 경계적분법 등이 있으며, 국내의 경우 비구조적 요소망(unstructured mesh)을 이용하여 복잡한 형상을 표현하기가 상대적으로 용이한 유한요소법이 널리 사용되고 있다. 하천을 유한 요소화 하는 전처리 과정은 전체 해석 과정을 자동화 하는데 있어 필수적인 요소이며, 주로 삼각 요소망 또는 사각 요소망을 이용하여 해석을 수행하게 된다. 삼각 요소망의 경우 상대적으로 자동화하기 쉬운 반면 사각 요소망의 생성은 절점 생성 자체가 삼각 요소망 보다 더 많은 기하학적 제한 요소를 가지고 있기 때문에 상대적으로 완성도 높은 알고리즘을 구현하기가 어렵다 할 수 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 2차원 상에서 사각 요소망(quadrilateral elements)을 생성할 수 있는 Paving method를 중심으로 한 요소망 생성 알고리즘에 대해 고찰하고, 국내 최초의 범용 수치해석 모형인 RAMS(River Analysis and Modeling System)에 적용하였다. Paving method는 1990년에 Blacker and Stephenson에 의해 제안되었으며, Sandia National Laboratories에 의해 완성되었다. Paving Method는 advancing front style의 요소망을 생성하게 되고, 바깥쪽에서 안쪽으로 element layer를 생성하면서 채워나간다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 요소망 생성 프로세스에서 element 삽입 전의 검증 기능을 강화한 새로운 버전의 paving method를 적용하엿다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to simulate the high ozone concentration in Shiwha Banwol indusrial complex. High pollution episodes (ozone alert) of this area are the results of geographical location and its air pollutants emission. This research has used meteorological model (RAMS) and photochemical air pollution Model (CIT model). As first step of the evaluate of this combined model system simulations are done in terms of meteorological characteristics like wind fields, PBL-height, etc.. Numerical simulations are carried out with real meteorological synoptic data on June. 24-25, 2010. In comparison with real measurement and another research the model reflects well local meteorological phenomena and shows the possibility to be utilized to analyse the pollutant dispersion over irregular terrain region. The high ozone concentration is deeply correlated to the ambient air temperature, wind speed and solar radiation. Local meteorological phenomena like sea-land breeze impact on horizontal dispersion of ozone. This analysis of meteorological characteristics can, in turn, help to predict their influences on air quality and to manage the high ozone episodes.

  • We have investigated coarse wind sectors in Busan metropolitan area and simulated detailed wind field using local atmospheric circulation model, RAMS in preceding studies (Part I, Part II). In this study, we divided and analyzed local wind sector in Busan according to the preceding results. We found that Busan metropolitan area is divided into 2 or 3 local wind sector in each coarse wind sector. The 9 coarse wind sectors were classified into 20 local wind sectors in total. But three local wind sectors were finally excluded because of these sectors were located on the complex hill area and the sea. Local wind sectors, therefore, in Busan metropolitan area were defined as 17 regimes. We assessed the location of air qualify monitoring sites at Busan metropolitan area using the information of these wind sectors. Most of these were located at proper points, but 6 sites were placed at 3 local wind sectors as a couple and no site was set up at 3 other sectors. Hence the location of these sites was in need of rearrange.

Health and environmental risk assesment of air pollutants in Gyeongju and its vicinities(I) (경주 주변지역 대기오염물질의 보건.환경 위해성 평가(I))

  • To protect the citizens' health of Gyeongju and to secure basic data for the assessment of health and environmental risk, distribution characteristics of meteorological elements were investigated and numerical simulation of wind field using RAMS model was carried out. In addition, measurement and analysis of air pollutants, forecasting the behavior air pollutants using ISC-AEROMOD view, and health and environmental risk-influenced zones were defined through managing air polluting materials to prevent health damage and property damage. According to the survey results of air pollution in Gyeongju and surroundings, average annual concentration of air pollutants in Gyeongju was slightly lower than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas, but concentration of particulate matters and nitrogen dioxide at Gyeongju Station Square and Yonggang Crossing were sometimes higher than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas. Results of the modeling of moving and diffusion of air pollutants that affect citizens' health showed that parts of the 1st through 4th industrial complexes together with POSCO were included in particulate matters and sulfur dioxide influenced areas in Pohang Steel Complex area, and that Haedo-dong, Sangdae-dong, Jecheol-dong and Jangheung-dong in Pohangnam-gu represented locally worsened air quality due to a quantity of air pollutant emission from dense steel industries and large scale industrial facilities.

  • In the I950s the German firm Braun began to pursue a policy of uncompromising modem design for products aimed at the upper reaches of the market. Dr. Fritz Eichler as a head of design with Hans Gugelot and Otl Aicher in the Graduate School VIm developed the guide line of Braun Design strategy as the foundation of the corporate identity programme. In 1955 Dieter Rams joined the staff, and was largely responsible for establishing the formal characteristics of Braun Design and its further development. In the mid-1950s complete product programme of the firm Braun began to be re-designed, and these undoubtedly hit the market. New design line of the firm Braun, was an exclusive avantgarde movement at that time, which became to be the epitome of the idea of an objectifiable "Good Form". By the result in the 60s and 70s, when Braun product program was completely re-designed to the new line, Braun Design had a decisive influence on the design scene of the world. Braun Design is essentially functional and concrete, which depends on perfect fulfillment of purpose, precision, safety, durability, the quality of the product and, more recently, environmental compatibility is similarly balanced and unified approach, eliminating every unnecessary detail and concentrating on ordering essential elements. elements.

  • For Static analysis of software code, an experienced tester prefer detecting defects with using selective static technique. Many cases of static method have been reported such as coding rules, software metrics, defect data, etc. However, many of analysis case only present effectiveness of static analysis, not enough description for how the tester judged to classify code defects used in code analysis and removed them properly for ensure high quality. Occasionally, there are materials to show the effect of through some examples through some examples. But difficult to gain trust, because of not enough detail for application process. In this paper, introduced the static technique commonly used in railway and applied to the real development challenges. And the each of results were compared and analyzed. It is hard to generalize the results of this parer. But can be used and referenced as a case of study.

  • Recently, also in railway vehicles, related products are being designed and manufactured through RAMS activities in order to secure their reliability, availability, maintainability & safety. Subway operators are conducting R&D on various preventive maintenance methods and applying them to the field so as to establish a reliability centered maintenance(RCM) system. In this connection, manufacturers shall carry out R&D based on reliability from the first design stage of development to provide high quality products to subway operators. And operators shall have the products operated properly to their particular operating environment and managed based on the standard maintenance manual. Not only that, but the related field data shall be fed back into the manufacturers to upgrade upcoming products by organic cooperation between manufacturer and operators. However, the mutually beneficial cooperative relationship is not still developed in the domestic railway industry. In terms of methodology for life prediction, this study was intended to analyze field data on relays used for rolling stocks considering operational characteristics in the position of subway operators and predict parts reliability using reliability prediction program from the standpoint of manufacturers as well.
