  • This paper presents a framework for implementing R&D project. Fundamental R&D investment process framework and success factors while considering risks and uncertainties of project will be described to illustrate an efficient and effective R&D management system in a firm.

  • This paper proposes a novel process which can develop the system requirements in defense R&D programs. As the weapon systems become more complicated, the success and effectiveness of R&D outcome heavily depend on the application and tailoring of systems engineering process and methods. And, the accuracy and quality of system requirements are essential prerequisite to leverage the systems engineering process. To produce the artifacts of systems engineering such as OCD, ORD, and the systems requirements, the system user can write out requirement document using the proposed implementation process and templates without expending heavy work loads.

  • 6Mask CMOS process in low temperature polycrystalline silicon thin film transistors (poly-Si TFTs) has been developed and verified by manufacturing a 6Mask CMOS AMLCD panel. The novel 6Mask CMOS process is realized by eliminating the storage mask, gate mask and via open mask of conventional structure.

  • 본 연구는 R&D 전주기 지원을 위해 과제 기획 및 수행과 연구성과 창출 시나리오를 통합 설계하고, 연구자 관점에서의 실효성과 유용성을 검증하기 위해 프로토타입으로 구현하는 것을 목표로 한다. 기존 연구가 R&D 전주기를 몇 가지 활동으로 세분화하고 모형화하였지만, 개념적 설계에만 초점을 맞추고 있다는 한계를 극복하고자, 본 연구에서는 산업계 및 학계 전문가와 협력하여 R&D 경험을 시나리오에 반영하고 이를 프로토타입으로 실증하였다.

  • Although PV module manufacturing and its structure are simple, the semi-permanent products can be used out doors for more than twenty years. Therefore it is need to choose proper materials and optimize manufacturing process. This paper suggest that factors of degradation need to be studied to achieve a more understanding of PV module Degradation rates and material failure. Nowadays durability of the PV Module is very important to sustain output safety for obtaining reliability. This paper is about the experiment that soldering uniformity of soldering process and to make least void from soldering process. From This study soldering flux residue and soldering method is main factor to form void blocked soldering uniformity and by using this.

  • The process conditions for high efficiency industrial crystalline Si solar cells with selective emitter were optimized. In the screen printed solar cells, the sheet resistance must be 50-60V/sq. because of metal contact resistance. But the low sheet resistance causes the increase of the recombination and blue response at the short wavelength. Therefore, the screen printed solar cells with homogeneous emitter have limitations of efficiency, and this means that the selective emitter must be used to improve cell efficiency. This work demonstrates the feasibility of a commercially available selective emitter process, based on screen printing and conventional diffusion process. Now, we improved cell efficiency from 18.29% to18.45% by transition of heavy emitter pattern and shallow emitter doping condition.

  • Recent trends of low-temperature polycrystalline Si (LTPS) TFT technologies are presented. Characteristics of LTPS TFT processes are compared with those of a-Si TFT's. In order to compete with well-established a-Si TFT-LCD technology, LTPS process has to be as simple as possible. One of the most critical processes, recrystallization of a-Si thin films, could be the process for the differentiation of LTPS technology. Along with these technical reviews, a recent development of the 5.0-inch LTPS TFT-LCD is presented. In order to achieve high-performance display characteristics and save the power consumption, the transflective mode is adopted. The 5.0-inch display with 186 pixel-per-inch, high-resolution LCD was measured to be 10% for the reflectance and 70:1 for the contrast ratio. This display is designed for a high information content hand-held PC (HHPC) application.

Does R&D Mediate the Impact of ICT on Productivity through Knowledge Transfer?

  • The information and communication technology (ICT) value creation process is inherently unobservable. In addition to the direct effect of ICT on productivity, some information or knowledge can create value through other knowledge activities. In this paper, we study the impact of ICT on productivity through R&D. We tested the mediating effect of R&D between ICT and productivity using panel data from 47 US industries from 1987 to 2013 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The results show that R&D partially mediates ICT and productivity. That is, ICT directly increases productivity, and some of its effects can be realized through R&D. Recipients who acquire knowledge through ICT have to interpret codified ideas and apply them to practice. The increased absorptive capacity that can be developed through R&D improves interpretation ability, allowing employees to share more complex ideas. Thus, ICT helps people to effectively communicate, but some information and knowledge can be realized and applied through R&D knowledge activities. This is the first study empirically examining the process of ICT value creation through R&D. It also provides practical guidelines for knowledge management, such as making decisions about ICT and R&D investments that are better done concurrently rather than individually to maximize their impact on productivity.
