생물 종의 개체 수 변화를 기술하는 수학적 모델의 확산현상 표현에 대한 역사적 고찰 (A Historical Study on the Representations of Diffusion Phenomena in Mathematical Models for Population Changes of Biological Species)

  • In mathematical population ecology which is an academic field that studies how populations of biological species change as times flows at specific locations in their habitats, PDE models have been studied in many aspects and found to have different properties from the classical ODE models. And different approaches to PDE type models in mathematical biology are still being tried currently. This article investigate various forms to express diffusion effects and review the history of PDE models involving diffusion terms in mathematical ecology. Semi-linear systems representing the spatial movements of each individual as random simple diffusion and quasi-linear systems describing more complex diffusions reflecting interspecific interactions are studied. Also it introduce a few of important problems to be solved in this field.

New Design for Linear Complex Precoding over ABBA Quasi-Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes

  • ABBA codes, a class of quasi-orthognal space-time block codes (QoSTBC) proposed by Tirkkonen and others, allow full rate and a fast maximum likelihood (ML) decoding, but do not have full diversity. In this paper, a linear complex precoder is proposed for ABBA codes to achieve full rate and full diversity. Moreover, the same diversity produce as that of orthogonal space-time block code with linear complex precoder (OSTBC-LCP) is achieved. Meanwhile, the size of the linear complex precoder can be reduced by half without affecting performance, which means the same complexity of decoding as that of the conventional ABBA code is guaranteed.

정렬된 단축이방성 분자들의 질서변수와 상대 복굴절간 준선형 관계식의 보편성 (Universality of the Quasi-linear Relation Between the Order Parameter and the Normalized Birefringence of Aligned Uniaxially Anisotropic Molecules)

  • 액정과 같은 단축 이방성 분자들의 상대 복굴절 ${\Delta}n_{rel}$과 질서변수 S가 만족하는 준선형 관계식인 $S=(1+a){\Delta}n_{rel}-a{\Delta}n^2_{rel}$이 보편적인 관계식임을 확인하였다. 액정분자들이 정다면체 대칭분포를 할 경우 굴절률은 등방적이며 $\frac{1}{n^2_{av}}=\frac{1}{3}\(\frac{1}{n^2_e}+\frac{2}{n^2_o}\)$와 같이 구해짐을 확인하였다. 정다면체 대칭성을 가지는 액정의 기본 분포에 분포함수 가중치를 가하여 액정의 정렬정도를 바꾸며 ${\Delta}n_{rel}$과 S를 수치계산 하였다. 또한 액정이 z축 주위 회전대칭성을 가지는 깔때기 모양으로 분포하고 있을 때 깔때기의 중심각을 변화시키며 ${\Delta}n_{rel}$과 S를 수치계산 하였다. 이로부터 S와 ${\Delta}n_{rel}$의 준선형 관계식이 액정의 분포형태와는 무관한 보편적인 관계식임을 보였다.

  • In this paper, a quasi-deadbeat minimax estimation (QME) is proposed as a new class of time-domain parameter estimations for deterministic generic linear models. Linearity, quasi-deadbeat property, FIR structure, and independency of the initial parameter information will be required in advance, in addition to a new performance criterion of a worst case gain between the disturbances and the current estimation error.   • Let T be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space H. For a positive integer k, an operator T is said to be a k-quasi-2-isometric operator if T∗k(T∗2T2 − 2TT + I)Tk = 0, which is a generalization of 2-isometric operator. In this paper, we consider basic structural properties of k-quasi-2-isometric operators. Moreover, we give some examples of k-quasi-2-isometric operators. Finally, we prove that generalized Weyl’s theorem holds for polynomially k-quasi-2-isometric operators.

  • In this paper, a practical quasi-optimal DOA(direction of arrival) estimator is proposed in order to develop a one-axis gimbaled ultrasonic source tracker for mobile robot applications. With help of the gimbal structure, the ultrasonic moving source tracking problem can be simply reduced to the DOA estimation. The DOA estimation is known as one of the representative long-pending nonlinear filtering problems, but the conventional nonlinear filters might be restrictive in many actual situations because it cannot guarantee the reliable performance due to the use of nonlinear signal model. This motivates us to reformulate the DOA estimation problem in the linear robust state estimation setting. Based on the assumption that the received ultrasonic signals are noisy sinusoids satisfying linear prediction property, a linear uncertain measurement model is newly derived. To avoid the DOA estimation performance degradation caused by the stochastic parameter uncertainty contained in the linear measurement model, the recently developed NCRKF (non-conservative robust Kalman filter) scheme [1] is utilized. The proposed linear DOA estimator provides excellent DOA estimation performance and it is suitable for real-time implementation for its linear recursive filter structure. The effectiveness of the suggested DOA estimation scheme is demonstrated through simulations and experiments.

  • Nowadays, the viscous damper using high viscosity oil was much to be used for engine shafting system to reduce the excessive additional stress by torsional vibration. In general, it was assumed that the viscous damper could be modelled having only damping coefficient, that is to say, whose stiffness be ignored. But it is found that there exists a jump phenomenon, as a kind of non-linear vibration, in the actual engine shafting system with a damper of high viscosity. Therefore the damper ring and the casing are modelled as two mass elastic system with a complex viscosity. Also, to analyze a non-linear phenomenon, it is assumed that the viscous damper has a linear stiffness coefficient in proportion to the angular amplitude and a non-linear stiffness coefficient in proportion to cube of the angular amplitude. For the analysis, Quasi-Newton method with BFGS(Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno) formula is used. Both calculated and measured values are provided in this paper which confirm the possibility of applying non-linear theory to engine shafting system with viscous damper.

  • In this paper, we prove the Cauchy-Rassias stability of derivations on quasi-Banach algebras associated to the Cauchy functional equation and the Jensen functional equation. We use the Cauchy-Rassias inequality that was first introduced by Th. M. Rassias in the paper "On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300".

A Fixed Point Approach to the Stability of Quadratic Equations in Quasi Normed Spaces

  • We use the fixed alternative theorem to establish Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the quadratic functional equation where functions map a linear space into a complete quasi p-normed space. Moreover, we will show that the continuity behavior of an approximately quadratic mapping, which is controlled by a suitable continuous function, implies the continuity of a unique quadratic function, which is a good approximation to the mapping. We also give a few applications of our results in some special cases.

  • The quasi-static and dynamic responses of a linear viscoelastic circular beam on Winkler foundation are studied numerically by using the mixed finite element method in transformed Laplace-Carson space. This element VCR12 has 12 independent variables. The solution is obtained in transformed space and Schapery, Dubner, Durbin and Maximum Degree of Precision (MDOP) transform techniques are employed for numerical inversion. The performance of the method is presented by several quasi-static and dynamic example problems.
