Seismic assessment of transfer plate high rise buildings

  • The assessment of structural performance of transfer structures under potential seismic actions is presented. Various seismic assessment methodologies are used, with particular emphasis on the accurate modelling of the higher mode effects and the potential development of a soft storey effect in the mega-columns below the transfer plate (TP) level. Those methods include response spectrum analysis (RSA), manual calculation, pushover analysis (POA) and equivalent static load analysis (ESA). The capabilities and limitations of each method are highlighted. The paper aims, firstly, to determine the appropriate seismic assessment methodology for transfer structures using these different approaches, all of which can be undertaken with the resources generally available in a design office. Secondly, the paper highlights and discusses factors influencing the response behaviour of transfer structures, and finally provides a general indication of their seismic vulnerability. The representative Hong Kong building considered in this paper utilises a structural system with coupled shear walls and moment resisting portal-frames, above and below the TP, respectively. By adopting the wind load profile stipulated in the Code of Practice on Wind Effects: Hong Kong-1983, all the structural members are sized and detailed according to the British Standards BS8110 and the current local practices. The seismic displacement demand for the structure, when built on either rock or deep soil sites, was determined in a companion paper. The lateral load-displacement characteristic of the building, determined herein from manual calculation, has indicated that the poor ductility (brittle nature) of the mega-columns, due mainly to the high level of axial pre-compression as found from the analysis, cannot be effectively alleviated solely by increasing the quantity of confinement stirrups. The interstorey drift demands at lower and upper zones caused by seismic actions are found to be substantially higher than those arising from wind loads. The mega-columns supporting the TP and the coupling beams at higher zones are identified to be the most vulnerable components under seismic actions.

  • 표준품셈은 공공기관 및 민간기관의 공사비를 책정하는 기본적인 자료로 이용되고 있다. 본 논문은 하천공사에서 선정된 대표공종을 대상으로 새로운 형식의 표준품셈 및 장비의 작업량 산출방식을 제안하고자 한다. 품셈에서 작업조 구성의 정보 및 1일 생산성 정보의 제공이 가능하도록 함으로써 공정계획 단계에서 품셈의 적용성을 향상시키고 장비의 작업량 산출과정을 간소화하여 사용자의 편의성을 증대할 수 있기를 기대한다. 하천공사의 경우 작업조건이라는 변수가 매우 크게 작용하기 때문에 생산성 정보 및 기계의 작업량을 일반화 하는 것은 많은 어려움이 존재하지만 지속적인 생산성 정보와 기계의 작업량 정보를 개선하여 정확도를 향상할 수 있다면 품셈을 통한 공정계획 수립 및 적산과정의 간소화가 가능할 것이다.

건설기술진흥법 상 안전관리비에 대한 적산 및 품셈을 통한 적정 요율 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Proper Rate of the Safety Management Cost under the Construction Technology Promotion Act by Direct Calculation)

  • The safety management cost system under the Construction Technology Promotion Act has contributed greatly to the prevention of construction accidents according to the chronological changes and social demand, but various problems have been pointed out. The biggest problem is that the safety management cost is earmarked very low because other items of safety management costs except for the safety inspection are not appropriately included in the actual construction site. Furthermore, it has been pointed out that it is difficult to settle the orderer due to the lack of specific use criteria. Therefore, in order to secure the proper safety management cost, this study is to estimate the actual cost by using of specification, quantity, material cost, labor cost for each type of the safety management item The results of this study were compared with the 71 cases of safety management costs in the safety management plan. In addition, analysis of unclear or unnecessary items in the current safety management cost and criteria and suggestions for improvement are provided. It is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to the rational safety management rate calculation.

비색판별법을 이용한 콘크리트의 표면염화물량 산정 및 매립철근의 건전도 평가 (Calculation of the Surface Chloride and Estimation for the Soundness of Embedded Rebar by Using Colorimetric Distinction Method)

  • 건축물의 요구성능에 대한 관심이 점차 높아짐에 따라 건축물의 성능평가를 통하여 사용연한을 예측하고 건축물의 수명을 연장시키거나, 새롭게 재구성하려는 노력이 계속되고 있다. 그러나 아직 염화물에 의한 성능저하 평가에 있어 그 비용의 문제와 평가과정의 전문성 등의 많은 난점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 콘크리트 내부의 염화물침투 깊이를 측정하는 간이적 방법인 비색판별법을 이용하여 염화물에 의한 성능저하평가를 하고자 비색판별법의 적용가능성을 검토 후 변색위치의 침투염화물량을 정량분석하였다. 또한, 이를 이용하여 콘크리트 표면염화물량을 산정하고 철근위치 염화물량의 예측 및 한계염화물량에 도달시간 예측의 실용적 평가수단을 제시하였다. 염화물에 의한 철근콘크리트 구조물의 성능평가에 있어 간이평가 수단인 비색판별법의 활용에 따라 샘플수의 다량확보를 통한 신뢰수준의 향상을 이룰 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

뉴스벤더 모델을 이용한 최적 대출금 한도 관리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Loan Limit Management Using the Newsvendor Model)

  • In this study, granting the optimal loan limit on SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) loans of financial institutions was proposed using the traditional newsvendor model. This study was the first domestic case study that applied the newsvendor model that was mainly used to calculate the optimum order quantity under some uncertain demands to the calculation of the loan limit (debt ceiling) of institutions. The method presented in this study made it possible to calculate the loan limit (debt ceiling) to maximize the revenue of a financial institution using probability functions, applied the newsvendor model setting the order volume of merchandise goods as the loan product order volume of the financial institution, and proposed, through the analysis of empirical data, the availability of additional loan to the borrower and the reduction of the debt ceiling and a management method for the recovery of the borrower who could not generate profit. In addition, the profit based loan money management model presented in this study also demonstrated that it also contributed to some extent to the prediction of the bankruptcy of the borrowing SME (Small and Medium Enterprise), as well as the calculation of the loan limit based on profit, by deriving the result values that the borrowing SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) actually went through bankruptcy at later times once the model had generated a signal of loan recovery for them during the validation of empirical data. accordingly, The method presented in this study suggested a methodology to generated a signal of loan recovery to reduce the losses by the bankruptcy.

선박충돌사고의 원인조사 및 분석방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Investigation and Analysis of Collisions at Sea)

  • The collisions at sea among marine casualties are not reduced as the tonnage and speed of ship's increase as well as the traffic quantity increase at sea, in spite of the improvement of nautical equipment, enforcement of crew's education and training as well as improvement of quality standard according to the implementation of ISM code. The measures to prevent the collisions at sea are simple, and are composed of six stage.: The first stage is that the officer on duty detect the target from his eye or radar information. The second stage is determining the type and kind of target-ship. The third stage is target tracking; calculation of target speed, course, CPA and TCPA from radar information or visual check. The fourth stage is determination of vessel in danger after calculation of third stage. The fifth stage is the judgement of situation if own ship is stand-on or give way vessel according to the 1972 COLREG. The last stage is to carry out proper action according to 1972 COLREG, under the circumstances. But by the case, the situations are so different under the different external conditions; for example, natural/navigational conditions, crew's human factors, ship's particular, rule or regulation, management system on board, the condition of watch keeping. Therefore the reasons and casualties are so complicated. This study aims to investigate the collision casualty at sea which needs to clarity all these causal factors of afore-mentioned, and to analyze the causes of problems so as to utilize them to establish the measures of preventing marine accidents. This study, described the concepts of causal factors into three groups; environmental factor, and company/on board management system and navigator's act. Also described how to investigate and analyzes the casual factors. Even though it was described in this paper how to detect the causal factors and reasons of collisions, and how to analyze the inter-relation of each causal factors, it is necessary to do further study how to analyze between the liability of concerned parties and the casual factors involved.

지방중소도시의 누수관리방법에 대한 효율성 평가 (Efficiency evaluation of water leakage management methods in local small and medium cities)

  • This study set up the estimates of leakage management efficiency evaluation and leakage management goal that could be used in local water distribution networks efficiency business and modernization business. The data were analyzed using data envelopment analysis and multiple regression analysis. To this end, with leakage management input indices concerning leakage reduction activities (e.g., aged pipe replacement, water meter replacement, leakage restoration, and leakage detection) and leakage management calculation indices (e.g., the increase of revenue water ratio and the reduction of leakage ratio), the data on 22 K-water consignment local water supply systems were analyzed for the years from 2004 through 2018. Using the results of efficiency analysis by data envelopment analysis, the other DMUs (Decision Making Unit) benchmarked the DMU with the highest efficiency to maximize the leakage management efficiency for all DMUs. Through this, leakage management goal estimates were drawn with the input indices of four leakage reduction activities and calculation indices of the increase of revenue water ratio and the reduction of leakage ratio by multiple regression analysis for each group based on the revenue water ratio and leakage ratio. The correlation coefficients of the leakage management goal estimate for the criteria for the revenue water ratio amounted to 0.553 and 0.771. The correlation coefficients of the leakage management goal estimate for the criteria for leakage ratio were 0.397 and 0.865. Accordingly, we estimated the quantity and priority of four leakage reduction activities for the target leakage ratio and revenue water ratio.

Analytical calculation method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipes based on three-dimensional stress state

  • In engineering design, the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipe was mostly calculated by the average elastic modulus method or the classical laminated plate theory method, which are based on relatively simplified assumptions, and may be not accurate enough sometimes. A new analytical calculation method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus of laminated FRP pipe was established based on three-dimensional stress state. By comparing the results calculated by this method with those by the above two traditional analytical methods and the finite element method, it is found that this method for the axial equivalent elastic modulus fits well not only for thin-walled pipes with orthotropic layers, but also for thick-walled pipes with arbitrary layers. Besides, the influence of the layer stacking on the axial equivalent elastic modulus was studied with this method. It is found that a proper content of circumferential layer is beneficial for improving the axial equivalent elastic modulus of the laminated FRP pipe with oblique layers, and then can reduce its material quantity under the premise that its axial stiffness remains unchanged. Finally, the meso-mechanical mechanism of this effect was analyzed. The improving effect of circumferential layer on the axial equivalent elastic modulus of the laminated FRP pipe with oblique layers is mainly because that, the circumferential fibers can restrain the rigid body rotations of the oblique fibers, which tend to cause the significant deformations of the pipe wall units and the relatively low axial equivalent elastic modulus of the pipe.

기후변화 연동 지하수 함양량 산정 모델 개발 및 정책방향 고찰 (Review of Policy Direction and Coupled Model Development between Groundwater Recharge Quantity and Climate Change)

  • 본 논문에서는 실질적인 기후변화에 따른 지하수 함양량 산정 모델 개발 및 관리방안을 마련하기 위하여 기후변화에 따른 지하수 함양량 변화를 산정하는 방법론을 제시하였고, 지리정보시스템을 활용하여 연구지역의 미래 시기별 지하수 함양량을 추정하였다. 이를 바탕으로 향후 기후변화에 따른 지하수 수자원 통합관리방안에 대한 정책적 사항을 제안하였다. 연구지역은 낙동강 본류를 포함하는 경상북도 칠곡군, 구미시 일부 및 대구시 북구 일부이며, 최종 연구결과는 미래 기후변화에 따른 시기별 강우량, 함양률, 함양량을 추정하였다. 함양량 및 함양률은 기후변화에 따른 강우량의 변화와 함께 변화하는 추세를 나타내고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 기후변화와 지하수 함양량의 불명확한 관계를 정량적으로 분석하였으며, 미래 기후변화 예측 결과를 반영한 연구지역 내 지하수 함양률 변화를 시-공간적으로 산정하고, 기존 산정 결과와의 비교를 통해, 향후 기후변화를 고려한 국내 지하수 수자원의 관리방안 수립을 위한 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 앞으로 연계모델의 고도화 방안 및 현장조사가 추가된다면 보다 정량적으로 기후변화와 지하수 함양량의 상관관계를 파악할 수 있으며, 향후 수자원으로 이용이 증가될 지하수의 전반적인 관리 및 효율적인 운영체제 구축을 위한 한 축을 차지할 수 있다는 점에서 중요성이 있다고 하겠다.

다이옥신의 환원적 탈염화 분해 경로와 독성 변화예측을 위한 LFER 모델 (Prediction of Pathway and Toxicity on Dechlorination of PCDDs by Linear Free Energy Relationship)

  • 영가철과 혐기성 미생물을 이용한 환원적 탈염화반응을 통한 다이옥신 처리 능력을 평가하기 위해, 자유에너지 선형관계(linear free energy relationship)를 이용하여 다이옥신의 탈염화에 의한 농도 및 독성변화 예측 모델을 최초로 정립하였다. 수용액상에 존재하는 다이옥신류의 깁스자유에너지는 기존 문헌의 열역학적 계산결과를 범밀도함수이론(density functional theory)을 이용한 계산 수준으로 보정하였으며, 보정된 깁스자유에너지와 실험을 통해 얻은 탈염화 반응속도 상수와의 선형관계를 통해 다이옥신의 탈염화 반응 256개에 대한 반응속도상수를 예측하였다. 본 모델을 통해 탈염화에 의해 변화하는 다이옥신 류 76종에 대한 시간 별 농도를 계산할 수 있다. 8염화다이옥신(Octachlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin, OCDD)이 완전히탈염화되어 dibenzo-p-dioxin (DD)로 탈염화되기까지는 100년 이상의 반응시간이 필요하였으며, 독성등가값(toxic equivalent quantity, TEQ)의 경우 탈염화가 진행되면서 초기농도의 10배 이상까지 증가하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이를 통해, 다이옥신의 처리를 위해서는 좀 더 빠른 탈염화 반응속도를 갖는 다른 전자공여 시스템을 사용하거나, 환원적 탈염화-라디칼 산화와 같은 복합 연계처리가 필요함을 알 수 있다. 본 논문을 통해 제시된 예측 기법은 다이옥신뿐 아니라 다른 할로겐화 화합물의 탈염화 예측과 여러 전자공여 시스템에 대한 평가에 적용이 가능하다.
