A Study on the Application of Constrained Bayes Estimation for Product Quality Control (Constrained 베이즈 추정방식의 제품 품질관리 활용방안에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to apply the constrained Bayesian estimation methodology for product quality control process and prove the effectiveness of the product management by comparing with the well-known Bayes estimator through data performance result. Methods: The Bayes and constrained Bayes estimators were produced based on the theoretical background and for confirming the effectiveness of suggested application, the deviation index was defined and calculated for the comparison. Results: The statistical analysis result shows that applying the suggested estimation methodology, that is, constrained Bayes estimator improves the effectiveness of the index with regard to reduce the error by matching the first two empirical moments. Conclusion: Considering the advanced Bayesian approaches such as constrained Bayes estimation for the product quality control process, the newly defined deviation index reduces the error for estimating the parameter histogram which is reflected both location and deviation parameters and furthermore various Bayesian perspective approaches seems to be meaningful for managing the product quality control process.

The Development of a Quality Assessment Tool for the Process of Health Promotion Programs at Public Health Centers (보건소 건강증진사업 수행과정의 질 평가지표 개발 -고혈압관리사업에서의 타당도 검증-)

  • This study purports to develop a quality assessment tool for the process of health promotion programs at public health centers(PHC). The draft of the assessment tool developed by the literature was distributed to 242 staffs who were in charge of the health promotion programs at PHCs for evaluating the feasibility of the tool on September and October 2002. The major results of the study were as follows; The quality assessment tool developed in the study consisted of four domains: strategic planning, program management, monitoring and evaluation, and resources and information. The strategic planning dealt with the function of the planning staff and committees, community data analysis, the feasibility of the program, and the approach methods for attaining the goal of the program. The program management included the items on the qualification and power of the program staff. The monitoring and evaluation included the items on the reporting and communication among program units, and feed back after monitoring. Finally, the resources and information dealt with community networking, clients' response, and consulting activity of the staff. The validity of the tools was tested and partly supported by both formative and criterion-related methods. The assessment tools developed in this study could be used by health promotion workers in the self-evaluation of the program quality. In conclusion, the quality assessment tool developed in the study will be a good safeguard for assuring the quality of the process of health promotion programs.

  • Design quality in constructed project is a primary consideration to achieve overall project objectives. It is not easy to evaluate the design quality because various factors are involved in the design process. This paper presents a new approach to improve the evaluation process of design quality In the construction project The evaluation model is developed to satisfy the requirement for implementing the ISO 9000 Quality Assurance Standards in the design process. It is assumed that design changes are resulted from the poor management of design quality. The model relates design changes to design quality management items. It assigns weight ratio to each design quality item to evaluate quantitatively Design Quality Index (DQI) is calculated to assess design quality based on the Objectives Matrix. A case study is performed to illustrate the practical implementation of the design quality evaluation.

  • Indoor air quality has attracted great attention in recent years and thus the importance of managing finishing materials in terms of pollutant source control is being emphasized. Managing the finishing material at the design stage maximizes the efficiency of IAQ control at the following construction stage. However, there are insufficient investigations on the application of a specific finishing material management process, a database management system or a finishing material management process network. As a result, the main purposes of this study comprise comprehensive evaluation of IAQ performance from the selected finishing materials and auxiliary materials, application of the material management system basing on the types and characteristics of toxic substances generated from the indoor finishing materials, investigation of IAQ evaluation standard, and the overall IAQ evaluation method for the design parts. The result of this study will be the basic data to construct DBMS for management of finishing materials with respect to IAQ.

  • As the significance of quality in the sense of customer satisfaction is growing, the management of quality becomes one of the main interests in the manufacturing systems research systems research. This paper presents the concept of quality-oriented manufacturing system which is composed of a business process domain and a quality domain. In the business process domain, business functions are integrated by traditional design and manufacturing databases on the one hand, and a quality management system is interlinked to them via several quality modules on the other hand.   • For small sized companies in Korea, it is crucial to have a systematic way of collecting and storing quality data, and extracting relevant information when necessary. This paper Is concerned with developing a quality information system which is mainly focused on processing quality inspection data, converting the data into meaningful quality information, and illustrating a case study of a small sized company in Gyeongnam province. First, we review the current quality Inspection system and reorganize a quality system which is more efficient than the current one. Second, incoming material, process, and product inspection modules are developed. Finally, a statistical process control module is integrated to see the manufacturing process behavior over time.

  • Recently many organization to become survival in changing marketplace, they must commit to implementing tools, systems, and quality management techniques. In this paper we develop process method of Team's problem-solving to reduce in failure costs. This paper suggest the step process how to measure quality cost reasonably that works in all types organizations. Or what is continuous improvement? Continuous improvement can be described as the continuous reduction of variation. Variation has many sources(machines, methods, materials, measurements, people, and environments) and cause(special & common in organization). As quality cost are not the answer to every organization financial, or quality-related problem, it's real results are designing & implementing quality cost system might be the answer.

  • This paper deals with an integration model of three major quality management systems. The well known global standards such as ISO 9001 quality system, Malcolm Baldrige model, and EFQM model are integrated as a prototype quality system. The proposed model is then applied to help a power generation company to select improvement tasks for enhancing quality management. Here, we discuss three quality management systems, an integration process of the three systems, the integrated model, and a real world application case.

  • With the common objective to improve process productivity and product quality, statistical process control (SPC) and engineering process control (EPC) have been widely used in the discrete-parts industry and the process industry, respectively. The major focus of SPC is on process monitoring, while that of EPC is on process adjustment. The emergence of the hybrid industry necessitates a synergistic combination of the two methods for an effective process control. This paper investigates the existing studies on SPC, EPC, and the integration of the two methods. This paper also presents future research issues in this field.
