90년대 중후반 이후 질적 연구법이 우리나라에서 본격적으로 소개되기 시작한 이후, 질적 연구물의 수는 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 그러한 변화에도 불구하고, 우리의 연구 맥락에서 실제로 적용된 질적 연구물에 대한 분석이나 방법론적 논의는 매우 미흡한 것으로 보인다. 이러한 문제의식에서 본 연구는 출발하였다. 구체적으로 본 연구는, 수학교육에서 질적 연구방법을 어떻게 적용하고 있는지를 분석하여, 향후 질적 연구법을 활용하고자 하는 연구자들에게 연구에서 의도한 목적 달성과 연구 결과의 질적 향상에 도움이 될 수 있는 방법론적 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 이러한 연구 목적을 성취하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 한국수학교육학회의 학회지인 '초등수학교육'에서 질적 연구방법을 활용하여 2012년 게재된 논문 5편을 대상으로 샘플링 선정, 자료 수집 및 자료 분석 방법 등을 중심으로 세밀하게 분석하여, 그 결과와 논의점을 질적으로 제시하고 있다.

본 논문의 목적은 질적 연구방법 패러다임의 중요한 특성들을 살펴보고 이러한 연구방법을 어떻게 우리 나라 가족치료 분야에 적용할 수 있을 것인가를 분석하는 것이다. 먼저 질적 연구방법의 일반적 특성과 연구설계의 전형적인 특징들이 기술된다. 둘째, 가족치료 분야에서의 질적 연구방법의 의미와 적절성 그리고 이의 구체적 적용방법과 관련된 내용들이 논의된다. 셋째, 가족치료 분야에서 질적 연구방법을 수행할 때 고려되어야 할 핵심적 이슈들이 검토된다. 질적 연구방법은 가족치료를 총체적으로 볼 수 있게 하는 체계적이고 과학적인 방법을 제공한다. 이러한 연구방법은 가족치료 분야에 새로운 조사연구 패러다임을 추가하고 이를 통해 가족치료의 다양성을 증가시킬 수 있다. 또한 가족구조와 현실의 총체적 표현이 가능한 다양한 질적 연구방법들은 가족형태와 경험의 복잡성과 다양성을 검토하는데 도움을 준다. 따라서 질적 연구방법은 가족치료의 과학 및 실천을 향상시킬 잠재성을 지니고 있고 가족치료 연구자는 질적 연구방법을 향상시킬 잠재성을 지니고 있다. 결론적으로 우리 나라 가족치료 분야에서의 질적 연구방법의 발전을 위한 합의를 제시한다.

Qualitative research is a method widely used in marketing research. However, the method has seldom been used in fashion marketing research in Korea. The purpose of this study was to prove that using both qualitative and quantitative research methods in main stage is much useful than using qualitative research method only in exploratory stage. Qualitative data were gathered by conducting Focus Group Interview(FGI) with 48 college students. Quantitative data were gathered by surveying college students, and 487 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. The data were analyzed using content analysis, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. As a result, FGI, one of the tools used in qualitative research methods, was proved to be useful in revealing consumers´deep emotional needs as well as purchase motives. FGI also revealed information which quantitative research method tools such as survey could have missed. Therefore, it is best to use multiple methods-simultaneous use of quantitative and qualitative methods-to understand fast changing consumers´needs and purchase motives.

In the context of Korean educational research, the number of qualitative research studies has gradually increased since 2000. It has become one of the most important research methods today. The field of math education is no exception to this trend, and qualitative approaches are now becoming one of the main research methods. This increase in qualitative research has contributed to the provision of detailed information about educational practice, but at the same time, the overall level of credibility in the results of qualitative research seems to be lower than that of quantitative research. This study started with the problem consciousness that the number of qualitative studies is increasing in the field of mathematical education, but there is a lack of discussion on the methodology of applying qualitative research methods. In this study, among the papers published in the journal related to mathematical education, papers using a qualitative approach are analyzed focusing on cross-case analysis. Based on the analysis results, the tendency to use qualitative approaches is diagnosed, ways of improving the validity and trustworthiness of qualitative research results in the field of mathematical education are examined, and implications and suggestions are presented.

본 연구는 한국 사회복지학 연구방법론에 대한 분석과 고찰을 통하여 질적 연구방법의 사회복지학에 대한 유용성을 논의하고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 사회복지학의 가장 대표적인 학술지인 "한국사회복지학"에 실린 학술논문 538편을 연구 방법론에 초점을 두고 분석한다. 분석 결과, 우리나라 사회복지학은 양적 연구방법에의 과도한 편향이 매우 극심한 상황인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 1990년대 중반이 되면서 이러한 한계가 지적되어 질적 연구방법을 활용한 논문들이 등장하기 시작하는데, 엄밀성 측면에서 볼 때 방법의 적절성과 수준은 매우 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 한국 사회복지학 연구방법론의 동향 분석과 함께 본 연구는 질적 연구방법의 특성과 유형을 정리하면서 한국 사회복지학과 질적 연구방법의 적합성(fitness) 즉 '질적 연구방법이 왜 필요한가' 그리고 '그 유용성은 무엇인가'를 중심으로 논의를 전개한다. 이러한 논의를 통하여 본 연구는 한국 사회복지학의 양적 연구방법에 편향된 상황에 대한 문제를 제기하며, 사회현상의 본질과 실재를 이해하기 위해서는 하나의 방법론이나 패러다임에 얽매이지 않고 사회과학의 많은 연구방법을 적절하게 활용하는 것이 매우 중요함을 제시한다.

Gradually, there has been increase in the use of qualitative research methods in nursing research. Nursing scholars are using qualitative research methods to explore the essence of nursing and discover its meaning. However, there has been lack of standards for evaluating qualitative nursing research. Often nursing researchers are applying quantitative research evaluation standards to qualitative nursing research. Thus, there has not been any notable qualitative research done to date. In order to improve the quality of nursing research done to discover new knowledge for the nursing, ＆ for development of nursing theory, criteria for critiquing qualitative research should be established. Therefore, this researcher introduced standards as criteria for critiquing qualitative research which are based on literature reviews and re search experiences. The suggested criteria are developed several question's as follows : 1) description of the research phenomena, 2) significance, 3) research purpose, 4) research question, 5) assumptions, 6) researcher's abilities, 7) selection of research samples, 8) data collection, 9) human subjects, 10) data analysis, 11) description of researcher's results, 12) literature review. Follow-up of concrete questions for each of the criterias have been developed.

본 연구의 목적은 질적 연구방법 교과목의 교육내용에 관한 기초자료를 제시하여 문헌정보학 대학원 과정의 질적 연구방법 교과목 개발에 일조하고자 한다. 국내 대학원에서 개설하고 있는 76편의 질적 연구방법 교과목 강의계획서의 내용분석을 통하여 질적 연구방법의 교육 경향을 도출하였다. 이를 근거로 문헌정보학 교육을 위한 핵심내용으로 질적 연구패러다임, 연구설계, 다양한 질적 연구 유형, 자료수집과 분석의 다양성, 글쓰기, 질적 연구의 평가준거를 제시하고 교수전략을 논하였다. 좋은 질적 연구를 수행하고 개발하기 위해서는 순환적, 창조적, 성찰적인 연구 실제가 가능하도록 교육해야 할 것이다. 이를 위해서는 질적 연구의 토대로서 질적 연구의 다양한 패러다임과 철학적 이론적 전통을 이해하는 것이 선행되어야 한다. 질적 연구자는 자신의 질적 입장(qualitative stance)을 인식하고 질적 연구를 행하는 것이 매우 중요하다.

본 연구는 수학교육연구에서 적용되고 있는 혼합연구법이 질적연구와 양적연구를 어떻게 결합하여 활용하고 있는가를 탐색해 보고자 한다. 구체적으로 수학교육분야에서 질적연구와 양적연구의 혼합이 방법론적으로 어떠한 시사점과 과제를 줄 수 있는가를 탐구하고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 한국초등수학교육학회에서 발간하는 '초등수학교육학회지'에 2015년 게재된 전체 32편의 논문 중, 혼합연구법을 적용한 4편의 논문을 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 기존의 선행연구들에서는 혼합연구에 대한 분석 결과를, 일반적인 양적연구의 결과와 유사하게 비교 항목별로 수치화시키며 양적인 정보를 중심으로 간략하게 설명하는 경향이 있어 왔다. 이와는 대조적으로, 본 연구에서는 질적 연구자의 관점에서 질적연구와 양적연구의 장점을 최적화할 수 있는 방안을 상세하게 논의하는 형식으로 분석 결과와 시사점을 제시하고 있다.

Quantitative and qualitative research explore various social phenomena using different methods. However, there has been a tendency to treat quantitative studies using complicated statistical techniques as more scientific and superior, whereas relatively few qualitative studies have been conducted in the medical and healthcare fields. This review aimed to provide a proper understanding of qualitative research. This review examined the characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research to help researchers select the appropriate qualitative research methodology. Qualitative research is applicable in following cases: (1) when an exploratory approach is required on a topic that is not well known, (2) when something cannot be explained fully with quantitative research, (3) when it is necessary to newly present a specific view on a research topic that is difficult to explain with existing views, (4) when it is inappropriate to present the rationale or theoretical proposition for designing hypotheses, as in quantitative research, and (5) when conducting research that requires detailed descriptive writing with literary expressions. Qualitative research is conducted in the following order: (1) selection of a research topic and question, (2) selection of a theoretical framework and methods, (3) literature analysis, (4) selection of the research participants and data collection methods, (5) data analysis and description of findings, and (6) research validation. This review can contribute to the more active use of qualitative research in healthcare, and the findings are expected to instill a proper understanding of qualitative research in researchers who review qualitative research reports and papers.

Qualitative research methodology has been applied with increasing frequency in various fields, including in healthcare research, where quantitative research methodology has traditionally dominated, with an empirically driven approach involving statistical analysis. Drawing upon artifacts and verbal data collected from in-depth interviews or participatory observations, qualitative research examines the comprehensive experiences of research participants who have experienced salient yet unappreciated phenomena. In this study, we review 6 representative qualitative research methodologies in terms of their characteristics and analysis methods: consensual qualitative research, phenomenological research, qualitative case study, grounded theory, photovoice, and content analysis. We mainly focus on specific aspects of data analysis and the description of results, while also providing a brief overview of each methodology's philosophical background. Furthermore, since quantitative researchers have criticized qualitative research methodology for its perceived lack of validity, we examine various validation methods of qualitative research. This review article intends to assist researchers in employing an ideal qualitative research methodology and in reviewing and evaluating qualitative research with proper standards and criteria.
