The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of elements related to the competitive intelligence(CI) process, methods, and infrastructure in accordance with the degree of CI effectiveness of domestic firms and to propose a guideline for designing and operating an effective CI program in Korean films. The results of this study reveal that, for the elevation of CI effectiveness of Korean firms, it is important to actively utilize the overall CI process, including undisclosed information through human networks, public information through various media, and quantitative and qualitative analyses, an independent CI unit, various CI support systems, such as information and reward systems, and organizational culture of CI openness within an organization. However, CI outsourcing, CI primary objectives, and CI scale do not seem to have a significant influence on CI effectiveness of Korean firms. Based on these results, this research presents some important implications for effective competitive intelligence for Korean firms.

Chaos theory, qualitative study of unstable aperiodic behavior in deterministic nonlinear dynamical systems, is dominant paradigm in the twenty first century. Fractal geometry, as an expressed form of chaos, now influences many areas such as architecture, art, music, economics, literature, etc. The purpose of this study is to analyze fractal geometry and fractal formative elements in architectural design. There are scaling, superimposition, distortion, deformation and repetition in the fractal form generator that can be applied to design concept and process in architecture. This study shows fractal geometry can be the architectural form creation method. Fractal geometry similar to nature's patterned order can be provided endless possibilities for design analysis and methodology in architecture. Therefore the further study of fractal geometry should progress synthetically through the basis of the study.

Optimized recovery of heavy minerals from the near shore sands of Korean Yellow Sea was investigated using physical processing technologies such as gravity concentration and magnetic separation. The head samples were subjected to the three stages effective separation; Head sample was first treated by a spiral separator to recover rough heavy mineral concentrates, which are contained minerals like ilmenite, zircon and rare earth minerals. Much higher beneficiation processes were subsequently taken by wilfley table and magnetic separation according to their magnetic field responses. Heavy minerals were effectively recovered by wilfley table and subsequent recleaning of heavy minerals by magnetic separations was conducted. Qualitative and relative-quantitative analyses of their constituent elements were doing using XRD and XRF.

As the information society matures, an analysis on possible outputs of internet usage is needed. Thus, this study was peformed in order to understand the utility cognition and negative outputs of internet users. The method used in this study was a web-based questionnaire that was administered to the internet users. Five hundred married men and women were analyzed with a factor and a multiple regression analysis. Results were as follows: First, many kinds of internet usages - information searching, internet shopping, electronic mail, instant messaging, and decision-making dependent on internet information - were differentiated with age. Second, the altitude about the internet was an important explanatory variable in the types of internet usage. Third, negative outputs of internet usage were great in terms of information resource management and unbalanced scheduling in daily time spent. Fourth, utility cognition was affected by qualitative elements on internet usage more than the quantitative ones.

This study explored the background of contemporary furniture design called New Design furniture, which newly expresses the aesthetics of communication in the postmodern era. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principle methodology was used to explore the background of the decorative and meaningful contemporary furniture in postmodernism. Thereby, the postmodern concepts of Charles Jencks, Robert Venturi, and Michael Graves were analyzed in terms of their postmodern architecture and furniture. As initiatives of postmodern architecture and furniture, Jencks, Venturi, and Graves explored the pluralism and eclecticism, the decoration, the semantics, and the materials reestablished from the traditions of craft. As a result, their furniture was expressed by various wood and color; the furniture was beautiful, decorative, pluralistic, and eclectic for communicating symbol, metaphor, narrative, and/or humor with people; the furniture has influenced the communicative elements on the contemporary furniture design called New Design furniture design, which shows the blurring of fine arts and craft distinctions.

This study explored the characteristics of contemporary furniture called New Design furniture design in terms of aesthetics of communication in the postmodern era. Qualitative conceptural analysis as the principal methodology was used to explore the characteristics of New Design furniture, which is accessible to the broadest possible public. Thereby, the communicative elements of symbol, metaphor, narrative, animation, imagination, humor, and/or wit expressed in New Design furniture were analyzed according to the designers'concept and work. As a result the postmodern aesthetics of communication made New Design furniture accessible to the largest number of People through cultural considerations in New Design furniture as it influences designers 'concept and work. However, it showed problems of New Design furniture in connection with postmodern aesthetics affecting mass production. Therefore, the designers have begun rethinking, redefining, and redesigning their furniture aesthetically, functionally, economically, and ecologically.

The importance of efficient Supply Chain Management is increasing in accordance with recent industrial environment, such as globalization of business, complexity and diversity of company's management structure, and variety of customer's demand. In a rapidly changed environment of business, quick and efficient decision making is the important matter to the survival of the company. The purpose of this study supports decision making for efficient supply chain management. In this study, we consider simultaneously and mutually reflecting the preference of each constituent (Supplier, Manufacturing plant, Distribution center, Customer) on supply chain network, and decide company's strategic choice and coordinated production/distribution models of company. The Analytical Hierarchy Process is used for decision making of qualitative and quantitative elements. We use the results of AHP as inputs and propose mathematical models thru Mixed Integer Programming.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of elevation design of apartment buildings in other countries, in order to search the new directions of elevation design planning of domestic apartment, so it can plan the qualitative improvement of housing environments can be fulfilled. This study will proceed to examine the following phase. As a preliminary study it trys to classify the formal characteristics of foreign apartment, in order to grasp the seven general ideas and methods of the elevation design through analyzing various design samples of well designed housing buildings. And it searches the variatino methods of the elevation design, and it can suggest the diverse elevation design samples of housing buildings.

Analytical solutions for the transient temperature distribution and quasi-static thermal stresses which arise in a thin circular disk of finite radius subjected to an instantaneous point source acting in its interior have been obtained. And the solutions have been extended to the case of a moving heat source with the aid of the Duhamel's superposition integral. The solutions given are in the form of double infinite serieses, and their numerical results have been compared with the experimental temperature histories. It can be found out that the theoretical histories of thermal stresses show a good agreement with the experimental results and the theoretical histories of thermal stresses show a good qualitative agreement with a physical phenomena. The solutions can be applied to the problems such as a flame hardening of the cylindrical machine elements and a circular patch welding or a circular cutting of the structural member.
