An Efficient Network Attack Visualization Using Security Quad and Cube

  • Security quad and cube (SQC) is a network attack analyzer that is capable of aggregating many different events into a single significant incident and visualizing these events in order to identify suspicious or illegitimate behavior. A network administrator recognizes network anomalies by analyzing the traffic data and alert messages generated in the security devices; however, it takes a lot of time to inspect and analyze them because the security devices generate an overwhelming amount of logs and security events. In this paper, we propose SQC, an efficient method for analyzing network security through visualization. The proposed method monitors anomalies occurring in an entire network and displays detailed information of the attacks. In addition, by providing a detailed analysis of network attacks, this method can more precisely detect and distinguish them from normal events.

Downward Load Prediction and Reduction Strategy for QTP UAV

  • The propeller wake of tiltrotor-type aircrafts, such as TR-60 and quad tilt propeller (QTP) UAV, in hover substantially impinges the upper surface of the primary wing and generates a downward load. This load is directly proportional to the thrust of the propeller and reduces the available payload. Therefore, wing and nacelle mechanisms should be carefully designed to reduce downward load. This study conducted a numerical analysis of the rotating propeller in hover to predict the downward load of a QTP UAV. An unsteady three-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver was used along with a sliding mesh for the simulation of the rotating propeller. To reduce the downward load, the tilting mechanisms of the partial wing and nacelle were simultaneously introduced and numerically analyzed. Finally, the downward load was predicted by 14% of isolated propeller thrust; further, the downward load could be reduced by adopting the partial wing and nacelle tilting concept.

A Study on Hovering Performance of Personal Air Vehicle According to Distance between Rotor Blade Axis via Computational Fluid Dynamics (전산유체역학을 통한 PAV의 로터 블레이드 축간거리에 따른 호버링 성능 변화 연구)

  • In this study, the conceptual design and performance evaluation of a personal air vehicle (PAV) is presented, which is a potential futuristic individual transportation. The blade element theory (BET) is employed to compute a rotational velocity. A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation is performed to investigate the difference in the thrust performance in the rotor axis distance of a quad-copter PAV in hovering. Modal analysis is performed to create a Campbell diagram to investigate critical speed. Consequently, a quad-copter PAV changes the aerodynamics thrust and critical velocity according to the rotor axis distance.

  • RVI (Radar Vegetation Index) has shown some promise in the vegetation fields, but its relationship with MVI (Multispectral Vegetation Index) is not known in the context of various land covers. Presented herein is a comparative analysis of the MVI values derived from the LANDSAT-8 and RVI values originating from the RADARSAT-2 quad-polarimetric SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data. Among the various multispectral vegetation indices, NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and SAVI (Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index) were used for comparison with RVI. Four land covers (urban, forest, water, and paddy field) were compared, and the patterns were investigated. The experiment results demonstrated that the RVI patterns of the four land covers are very similar to those of NDVI and SAVI. Thus, during bad weather conditions and at night, the RVI data could serve as an alternative to the MVI data in various application fields.

Verification of Effectiveness of Wearing Compression Pants in Wearable Robot Based on Bio-signals (생체신호에 기반한 웨어러블 로봇 내 부분 압박 바지 착용 시 효과 검증)

  • In this study, the effect of wearing functional compression pants is verified using a lower-limb wearable robot through a bio-signal analysis and subjective fit evaluation. First, the compression area to be applied to the functional compression pants is derived using the quad method for nine men in their 20s. Subsequently, functional compression pants are prepared, and changes in Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals when wearing the functional compression and normal regular pants inside a wearable robot are measured. The EEG and ECG signals are measured with eyes closed and open. Results indicate that the Relative alpha (RA) and Relative gamma wave (RG) of the EEG signal differ significantly, resulting in increased stability and reduced anxiety and stress when wearing the functional compression pants. Furthermore, the ECG analysis results indicate statistically significant differences in the Low frequency (LF)/High frequency (HF) index, which reflect the overall balance of the autonomic nervous system and can be interpreted as feeling comfortable and balanced when wearing the functional compression pants. Moreover, subjective sense is discovered to be effective in assessing wear fit, ease of movement, skin friction, and wear comfort when wearing the functional compression pants.

Dual-Wideband Bandpass Filter Using Distributed Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Line Quad-Mode Resonators (분산 CRLH 전송선로 4중 모드 공진기를 이용한 이중-광대역 대역통과 여파기 설계)

  • This paper presents a dual-wideband bandpass filter (BPF) with high band-to-band isolation and skirt selectivity using distributed composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) quad-mode resonators (QMRs). The results of the proposed distributed CRLH TL unit cell analysis are used to establish the scattering parameters and the resonance frequencies of the QMR constituting the dual-wideband BPF. A novel dual-wideband bandpass filter is designed and fabricated, using the derived scattering characteristics. The measured results show that the fabricated dual-wideband bandpass filter has an insertion loss of less than 1.08dB in the lower band, and of 2.01dB in the upper band, a bandwidth of 2.8-5.52GHz and 9.68-12.26GHz, and a band-to-band isolation of more than 38dB, from 6.34-8.42GHz.

Numerical Analysis on Aerodynamic Performances and Characteristics of Quad Tilt Rotor during Forward Flight (전진 비행하는 쿼드 틸트 로터의 공력성능 및 특징에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • In this study, numerical analyses on Quad Tilt Rotor(QTR) are carried out to investigate the interference effect of components and effect of operating condition during forward flight. Actuator Surface Method(ASM) which is implemented in an open source CFD code, OpenFOAM, is used to calculate the flow field around QTR with high computational efficiency. The lift of the front and rear wing is found to increase or decrease depending on the rotation direction of the rotor. At the rear wing, the interference effects of the front and rear rotor appear as a combined manner. Performance change due to the phase difference is found to be insignificant. For both rotors, the locally higher thrust is generated by the blockage effect of the wing. The interference effect of wake from the front nacelle contributes to higher local thrust for the rear rotor compared to the front rotor. And it is observed that the amplitude of thrust oscillation can decrease depending on the phase difference between the rotors. Aerodynamic performances of both rotors and the entire aircraft were compared and analyzed for various operating conditions.

Analysis on the Performance and Temperature of the 3D Quad-core Processor according to Cache Organization (캐쉬 구성에 따른 3차원 쿼드코어 프로세서의 성능 및 온도 분석)

  • As the process technology scales down, multi-core processors cause serious problems such as increased interconnection delay, high power consumption and thermal problems. To solve the problems in 2D multi-core processors, researchers have focused on the 3D multi-core processor architecture. Compared to the 2D multi-core processor, the 3D multi-core processor decreases interconnection delay by reducing wire length significantly, since each core on different layers is connected using vertical through-silicon via(TSV). However, the power density in the 3D multi-core processor is increased dramatically compared to that in the 2D multi-core processor, because multiple cores are stacked vertically. Unfortunately, increased power density causes thermal problems, resulting in high cooling cost, negative impact on the reliability. Therefore, temperature should be considered together with performance in designing 3D multi-core processors. In this work, we analyze the temperature of the cache in quad-core processors varying cache organization. Then, we propose the low-temperature cache organization to overcome the thermal problems. Our evaluation shows that peak temperature of the instruction cache is lower than threshold. The peak temperature of the data cache is higher than threshold when the cache is composed of many ways. According to the results, our proposed cache organization not only efficiently reduces the peak temperature but also reduces the performance degradation for 3D quad-core processors.

An Improving Method of Android Boot Speed in Multi-core based Embedded System (멀티코어 기반의 임베디드 시스템에서 안드로이드 부팅 속도 향상 방법)

  • The current embedded devices are growing rapidly in the multi-core, and these demand fast boot time. But method of previous boot uses core only one. The method includes parallel techniques and modification of CPU Frequency policy. Parallel methods, after analyzing the Android boot process with analysis tool, applied to location where a lot of CPU operation. CPU Frequency policy is modified for high performance of core. The proposed method was applied to S5PV310 dual core and Exynos4412 quad core embedded system. As a result of the experiment, we found that the proposed method makes boot time fast about 20.71% and 31.34% in dual core and quad core environment as compared with the previous method.

  • This paper shows an approach for real-time object segmentation on GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) using CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture). Recently, many applications that is monitoring system, motion analysis, object tracking or etc require real-time processing. It is not suitable for object segmentation to procedure real-time in CPU. NVIDIA provide CUDA platform for Parallel Processing for General Computation to upgrade limit of Hardware Graphic. In this paper, we use adaptive Gaussian Mixture Background Modeling in the step of object extraction and CCL(Connected Component Labeling) for classification. The speed of GPU and CPU is compared and evaluated with implementation in Core2 Quad processor with 2.4GHz.The GPU version achieved a speedup of 3x-4x over the CPU version.
