  • Quality cost system is a key element of an organization's quality program. In this paper we suggest a quality cost evaluation system for aerospace industries considering the aircraft development and manufacturing processes. To reduce the cost of poor quality, we present an extended quality cost concept and detailed quality cost categories. The extended quality cost includes prevention cost, appraisal cost, failure cost, and the cost hidden in the processes. The evaluation of this extended quality cost will be helpful in identifying critical quality issues in aerospace industries.

  • The goal of this research was to develop a portable system that could be used to evaluate the quality of milk in real time at a raw milk production site. A real-time portable quality evaluation system for raw milk was developed to enable non-destructive quality evaluation of somatic cell count (SCC), fat, protein, lactose, and total solid (TS) in milk samples. A prediction model of SCC, fat, protein, lactose, and TS was constructed using partial least squares (PLS) and 200 milk samples were used to evaluate the prediction performance of the portable quality evaluation system and high performance spectroscopy. Through prediction model development and verification, it was found that the accuracy of high performance spectroscopy was 90% for SSC, 96% for fat, 96% for protein, 91% for lactose, and 97% for TS. In comparison, the accuracy of the portable quality evaluation system was relatively low, at 90% for SSC, 95% for fat, 92% for protein, 89% for lactose, 92% for TS. However, the measurement time for high performance spectroscopy was 10 minutes for 1 sample, while for the portable quality evaluation system it was 6 minutes. This means that the high performance spectroscopy system can measure 48 samples per day (8 hours), while the portable quality evaluation system can measure 80 (8 hours). Therefore, it was found that the portable quality evaluation system enables quick on-site quality evaluation of milk samples.

  • It seems to be less important to quality record than document control. But quality records provide a objectve evidence for certain product. So, the requirements of quality record is more serve than that of design document. It is obvious that quality record control promotes accumulation of know-how. The puepose of this study is to possible implementation methods through analysis of Code requirements. This paper suggests the considerations when establishing the quality records control system.

  • The study of purpose is to analyze the effects of quality factors of ERP system on organizational performance. Where as many preceding studies have been focused on the factors of general service quality, this study analyzed interrelation between quality factors and organizational performance of corporation implemented ERP system using questionnaire. As compared with preceding studies which mainly concerned with system quality factors and information quality factors, this study specially added service quality to analyzing interrelation with organizational performance. Questionnaire consists of survey for the interrelation between ERP system implemented corporation and organizational performance. The results are as follows. First, quality factors of ERP system effected on organizational performance by t-test. Second, quality factors of ERP system showed significance statistically on the effects of organizational performance by t-test. The results of this study have a great expectation for the role of offering useful insight and information in the field of business and education. First, make sure that quality factors have significant effects on organizational performance when implemented ERP system in the business, investment and research on quality factors should be combined with. Second, in a sense that this study was added to service quality in research of quality factors by the detailed approaches which different from preceding studies, it is of highly practical use. Third, this study presents scientific foundation on quality improvement for quality factors of ERP system.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting of hospital information system quality factors on user satisfaction and service innovation performance in general hospitals. Using 5-point Likert scale, survey was performed on 250 nurses on hospital information system quality, user satisfaction, and service innovation performance. Data were analyzed by t=test, ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. The results showed that significant correlation between service innovation performance and independent variables was seen in system quality (r=0.644, p<.001), information quality (r=0.650, p<.001), service quality (r=0.629, p<0.001) and user satisfaction (r=0.831, p<.001). User satisfaction was a moderating variable between hospital information system quality and service innovation performance with explanatory power of 78.4%. Higher user satisfaction (B=0.557, p<.001) showed positive correlation with greater service innovation performance. Investigating the mediating role of user satisfaction between EMR quality and service innovation performance, it is suggested that importance of system quality, user friendly system support and service.

  • Purpose: Nowadays, the risk assessment system is widely used in many industrial and public areas to reduce the possible risks. The system is used to determine the priorities of the government quality assurance works in Defense Agency for Technology and Quality. However, as the risk assessment system is used for other purposes, there are some items that need improvement, and in this study, we propose improvement plans by benchmarking the risk assessment systems of other institutions. Methods: In this paper, first, the procedures of risk assessment system used in many industrial sites were reviewed, and how each institution specialized and applied the system. Afterwards, by benchmarking various risk assessment systems, an improvement plan on how to operate the risk assessment system in the case of government quality assurance for centrally procured military supplies was presented, and practical application cases were presented to prove the usefulness of the improvement plan. Results: The proposed risk assessment system differs from the existing system in five major aspects. First, inputs, outputs, and key performance indicators were specified from the systematic point of view. Second, risk analysis was analyzed in four dimensions: probability of occurrence, impact, detection difficulty. Third, risk mitigation measures were classified, control, transfer, and sharing. Fourth, the risk mitigation measures were realized through document verification, product verification, process verification, and quality system evaluation. Finally, risk mitigation measures were implemented and the effectiveness of the risk mitigation measures was evaluated through effectiveness evaluation. Conclusions: In order for the risk assessment procedure proposed in this study to be applied to actual work, it is necessary to obtain the consent of the person involved in the work due to the increased time for risk identification and preparation of the government quality assurance log, and a change in the information system that performs the actual work is required. Therefore, the authors of this study plan to actively perform internal seminar presentations and work improvement suggestions to apply these research outputs to actual work.

  • This paper presents a vision based autonomous inspection system for welding quality control of a RV sinking seat. In order to overcome the precision error that arises from a visible inspection by an operator in the manufacturing process of a RV sinking seat, the machine vision based welding quality control system is proposed. It consists of the CMOS camera and the NI vision system. The geometry of the welding bead, which is the welding quality criteria, is measured by using the captured image with a median filter applied on it. The image processing software for the system was developed using the NI LabVIEW software. The proposed welding quality inspection system for RV sinking seat was verified using experimentation.

  • Organizations worldwide have implemented quality management system, ISO 9001:2000 and environmental management system, ISO 14001:2004. Researches have been conducted regarding occupational health and safety management system, integration of these management systems, and extension to corporate social responsibility and sustain ability management system, ISO 26000. This paper examines quality and environment management systems for machinery and metal companies using audit results. We perform statistical tests to see if there are any significant differences of minor nonconformities for requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 based on implementation motive, operating periods, and organization's size. We also present causes and reasons for statistical differences and minor nonconformities to use as references for implementing efficiently quality management system and environment management system.
