  • This study analyzed the recognition rate of QR codes printed by digital transfer textile printing for mobile application. The purpose was to identify conditions that increase recognition rates of QR codes printed on textile, in order to increase utility of QR codes in the textile and fashion industries. The study focused on differences in the color of the QR codes and denier, which is a unit of textile fineness measurement, of the textile on which the QR codes were printed. And the recognition rates of QR codes according to the color and denier were analyzed. According to the result of this study, the colors of QR codes had an effect on the recognition of the codes by mobile applications. Specifically, strong contrast, i.e., bright background and relatively dark module, increased the recognition rate of the QR codes. Digital transfer textile printing tend to change the hue of red and yellow and increase brightness, and change in the printed colors also had an effect on the recognition rate of QR codes. There was a clear difference in the color and recognition rate of the printed QR code according to the denier of the textile, and this suggests denier has an effect on the recognition rate. The findings in this study can provide basic data for future research on QR codes digital printed on textile.

  • Currently, since the black-white QR (Quick Response) codes have limited storage capacity, color QR codes have been actively being studied. By multiplexing 3 colors, the color QR codes can allow the code capacity to be increased by three times, however, the color multiplexing brings about the possibility of crosstalk and noises in the acquisition process of the final image, incurring the decrease of bit-recognition rate. In order to improve the bit recognition rate, while keeping the storage capacity high, this paper proposes a new type of color QR code which uses the pattern information as well as the color information, and then analyzes how to increase the bit recognition rate. For this aim, the paper presents an efficient system which extracts embedded information from color QR code and then, through practical experiments, it is shown that the proposed color QR codes improves the bit recognition rate and are useful for commercial applications, compared to the conventional color codes.

  • Despite that QR codes are spreading worldwide in Pin Tech, logistics distribution, etc., South Korea is staying at the level of using QR codes in limited areas such as website connection and marketing communication. The purpose of this study is to propose measures for more effective use of QR codes by examining the effects of personal innovativeness on user's behavioral intentions by applying personal innovativeness to QR codes. To this end, this study was intended to examine the relationships between performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social expectancy (SE), and personal innovativeness, which are variables used in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model among innovative technology acceptance models, and behavioral intentions. For this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted with students in collages in the metropolitan area in May 2018 and the results were statistically verified using IBM SPSS 21. The results showed that PE, EE, and SE had significant positive(+) effects on personal innovativeness and behavioral intentions of QR code users. The mediating effects of personal innovativeness were tested and the results indicated that personal innovativeness partially mediates between PE and behavioral intentions and between EE and behavioral intentions but not between SE and behavioral intentions. The fact that since QR codes are expressed as a component to users through other media rather than its internal factors, the personal innovativeness of QR code users plays an important role in increasing the use of QR codes could be identified through this study.

  • In this paper, we examined how to utilize QR codes for meeting the information demand and making better use of the paper map. By Decision Tree Analysis, we investigated whether to have any intention to use the paper map with QR codes for receiving more information and what decision variables affect the answers. Thus, we also surveyed the area of providing information and sectoral demand for deriving additional information demand to being provided through QR codes. In the results of our study, we confirmed that the decision variables, to make any intention to use the paper map with QR code, are the frequency of using the paper, the experience of using the paper map, the intention to buy the paper map, the experience of using QR codes and the experience of buying the paper map. In these variables, the frequency of using the paper map is a major factor to decide whether it is intended to use the paper map with QR codes. we also identified that there are various additional information demand using the paper map with QR codes in the area of 'Daily life', 'Real estate', 'Education', 'Travel and Leisure', and 'Entertainment'. Especially additional information demand is high in the area of 'Travel and Leisure'. These results could be used to find a way how to vitalize the usage of paper map by introduction of QR codes and how to develop QR codes for the paper map and concerning applications.

  • The act was designed to identify the introductory cases of the use of quick response (QR) codes in records management by public institutions and propose measures to enhance users' satisfaction with their work. This study looked at the definition of the QR codes and the user services that can be provided by the records depository and reviewed the introduction cases using the codes. The reason QR codes are used by records depositors is that public institutions currently have a single-person system that specializes in records management. With the number of employees and the number of records becoming more extensive, explaining the contents of all tasks accurately as well as other professional contents to employees who lack understanding of the records management life cycle is becoming more difficult. The introductory cases were divided into information on how to register nonelectronic records, information on location and history of important records and administrative museum, and education on standard records management. The research was conducted by dividing the research team's "Records Management Guide" (QR code status) into experimental groups and control groups for officials of the Busan Metropolitan Government. There were significant differences in the level of satisfaction with records management guidance depending on whether or not QR codes were used. When the first and second surveys were compared in December 2017 and March 2018, the results of the first survey averaged 2.94, but the second survey showed high results at 3.75 and was statistically significant. This can be said to be more satisfactory by introducing QR codes than guidance provided by existing type. Although this research examines introductory cases of records management by public institutions using QR codes and user satisfaction, future tasks are to be applied to Records Management System and document production systems so that completion can be improved.

  • Currently, the black-white QR (Quick Response) codes have been used widely in consumer advertising fields and the study of color QR codes have received a growing demand because of much higher data encoding capacity. Color QR codes can be reproduced by the printing and scanning processes, however, these encounter colors distortion caused by insufficient lighting, low resolution of camera and geometric deformation during the capturing processes. In order to overcome these problems, this paper proposes an efficient decoding algorithm for color QR codes with inserted patterns, which are dealt with conventional studies. These are evaluated in view of the recognition rate under different noise conditions, for example, Gaussian noises/blurring and geometric deformation. Experimental results demonstrate that the color QR codes with simple pattern can resist the distortion of Gaussian noises/blurrings.

  • This paper proposes a method to express an MP3 audio file by a series of color QR codes which can be printed on the paper. Moreover, the method can compress the data considerably. Firstly, an MP3 file is divided into many small files which have maximum capacity of binary file of a QR code. Secondly, the multiple files are converted to multiple black-and-white QR codes. Lastly, every three QR codes are combined into color QR codes. When combining, each of three black-and-white QR codes are regarded as red, green, blue components respectively. In this method, the areas of a color QR code where two QR codes are overlapped are expressed by the colors Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. And the areas where three components are overlapped are expressed by white color. Contrarily, the areas that no components are overlapped are expressed by white color. Experimentation result shows that an MP3 file with 8.5MB the original MP3 files are compressed with the compression rate around 15.7. This method has the advantage that can be used in the environments that the internet access is impossible.

  • This paper shows the way to prevent the leaking of private information due to malicious codes or connections of invalid URL in QR-Codes, which is used in the present smart-phone. It is difficult to filter out the connections directly with decoding the QR-Codes, so before connecting, we construct servers which compare results of decoding the QR-Codes to a valid URL. The server notifies warning to Smart-phone users if the results were uncertain URLs which did not registered in the server. This paper would help the Smart-phone users to protect their privacy.

  • QR Code is a two-dimensional code in the form of a matrix that contains data in a square-shaped black-and-white grid pattern, and has recently been used in various fields. In particular, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the usage increased rapidly by identifying the movement path in the form of a QR code that anyone can easily and conveniently use. As such, Qshing attacks and damages using QR codes are increasing in proportion to the usage of QR codes. Therefore, in this paper, a system was implemented to block movement to harmful sites and installation of malicious codes when scanning QR codes.
