Improvement of the Customer Complaint Service Using QFD in Airline Industry (QFD를 이용한 항공서비스 불만처리 흐름 개선)

  • In service industries, it is very hard to transform the quantified factor into qualified one. Nowadays, however, service industries employee various methods developed by the academic society to manage effectively. Therefore, we have focused our research on QFD that is applied to improve the flow of execution in customer complains in Air Lines which can be considered as the representation of Service Industries. QFD is a method of developing new service with response to the demand from customer thanks to the application of QFD. In this paper we decide the priority of the department for executing the customer service of Air Lines. After setting up the relations among departments, we analyze the problems caused by the contact between customers and departments.

  • In this paper, we investigated economic viability of UCA (Ubiquitous Contents Access) technologies from user adoption perspective. UCA technologies are expected to 9et embedded into media and telecom merging services. Embracing new technologies such as UCA technologies, forged through an industry convergence, means opting for a technological innovation that will have technological as well as economic and strategic implications. As such, we adopted user perspective innovation adoption theories to explore key antecedents affecting consumer acceptance of these emerging technologies. Subsequently. using QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method, the impacts of UCA technical functions on user's perceived value enhancements are estimated. The QFD analysis result indicates that the new UCA service technologies could achieve about 42% enhancement on user perceived adoption intention compared to existing digital contents service technologies. The proposed analysis framework and findings suggests significant insights for further research.

  • This paper describes a step-by-step method to minimize design iterations in a process of product design change. In the design process, two components are coupled if a change of a component can require the other components change, and design iterations are generated by the coupling. The design iteration is one of main factors that increase design effort. In this study, three matrices are used to solve the design iteration of automatic transmission lever, Requirement-Engineering matrix, Engineering-Components matrix, and DSM(Design Structure Matrix). Firstly, with the DSM, the product architecture and conceptual design process are proposed from product function analysis. Secondly, with the QFD, the Requirement-Engineering matrix and Engineering-Components matrix present the relationship among customer requirements, engineering issues, and product components.   • How to measure Quality Performance (QP) or excellence performance in organizations is very important for improving the quality of an organization's products and services. This paper takes Quality Function Deployment (QFD) as a useful tool to identify the key characteristics of quality performance and measure the influence factors on quality performance. Most national quality awards provide a framework of the criteria to show the essential elements of an organization's quality performance and get the Quality Performance Score (QPS) by self-assessment using the criteria. By means of these criteria, especially, the criteria of China Quality Award (CQA), a measurable indicator system for quality performance is set up. A four-phase QFD model of assessment for quality performance is developed. This QFD model not only presents the most important efforts for the deployment of the measurable indicators of quality performance, but also takes great advantage of evaluating the quality performance and obtaining the quality performance score. The measurable indicator hierarchy of quality performance is formed and its implementation method for assessment quality performance is described in this paper.

  • In a reinforced concrete structure, coupler construction is easier to install than jointing or welding reinforcing bars, so it is possible to work by one person. When constructing a reinforcing bar coupler, the coupler construction method must be different for each member that receives a large tensile force or a member that receives a small tensile strength. Various coupler products are used in the global construction market, and the quality, performance, and cost of reinforcing bar joints vary from product to product. This study compares and analyzes the quality and cost of representative rebar couplers according to the requirements using the quality house of QFD-HOQ. The case study presents a quality and cost improvements strategy through QFD-HOQ analysis of rebar couplers.

  • VE analysis is a method to secure definite functions and performance by defining user's various requirements clearly and propose alternatives to reduce cost. However, the present domestic VE project has difficulty in defining design function analysis clearly due to time constraints as well as difficulty in effective and efficient communication between project stakeholder. Domestic results of VE were largely focused on reducing cost while maintaining the functions of the existing facility. Therefore, this study aims to secure the optimal functions for users according to the original intent of user requirements through QFD-VE model which project VE participants can make collective and cooperative decision making. QFD-VE is a technique that first, it can make collaborative decision making in defining and modifying of design function and setting the importance of requirement function. Second, it allow project VE participants to check design interference and conflict between neighbor systems. This study also provided a mathematical model for implementing the computer system using QFD-VE in the future.

  • The weapon system applies the rule that the system engineering procedure must be applied at the acquisition stage. Naval ships, which are one of the important naval weapon systems, take a long period of time to acquire, and the leadership must be commissioned. Therefore, in order to acquire a naval ship, high risk management is necessary, and it is necessary to promote business success through effective application of system engineering which is a scientific management method. However, in the case of naval ships, there are no specific procedures and methods for applying the system engineering. Therefore, research on application method of system engineering which can be easily used by person in charge is necessary. This should have a simple approach to ensure effective business performance by systematically refining and simplifying existing works. QFD (Quality Function Deployment) is a way to improve product satisfaction, impress customers, reduce defective products, reduce design errors, and reduce costs. This systematically develops these mutual relationships by converting the needs of customers into quality characteristics of products and defining them as the design quality of products considering the functions, quality, and process elements of parts. The purpose of this research is to present concrete methodology at the practical level using QFD in a way to ensure traceability of requirements which is an important element of system engineering.

  • The concept of the advanced concept technology demonstration (ACTD) has previously been introduced in USA in order to make it possible to rapidly transfer advanced technologies developed in commercial sectors to develop weapon systems in the defense area. Since then in Korea several ACTD programs have been developed and being carried out However, there are few program management methods suitable for the characteristics of the ACTD programs, which requires stringent management of the program requirements and risks due to the radically shortened development time. In this paper such a problem has been addressed and as a solution approach the quality function deployment (QFD) method has been adopted, which is being served as a successful model in various areas such as manufacturing. The QFD method is used in our study to improve communication between various stakeholders involved in the ACTD programs and also to reduce risks related to requirements. Specifically we have developed the ACTD standard templates based on the QFD method and discussed how to use the developed templates. Finally, the application of the study result is demonstrated through the ACTD program of flight information demonstration system and also specific ways are suggested to use the standard templates, to manage requirements, and to reduce risks.

  • Although consumer needs for better products force manufactures to put emphasis on design, often development of a product has been done without the formal process to consider consumer needs. In order to identify the implicit needs of customers and the areas of potential demand on a product, several analysis scheme such as QFD (Quality Function Deployment) has been developed. QFD, also known as the House of Quality, is the efficient tool ever created to tie product and service design decisions directly to customer wants and needs, i.e. VoC (Voice of Customer) To utilize this tool on a product design, first of all, the consumers attributes and the engineering characteristics must be exactly investigated. However there were only few studies about them on shoe design. Hence in this paper we developed an innovative framework for shoes design based on QFD. As a result, we uncovered 29 dominant human satisfaction dimensions as the consumers attributes for customer-oriented quality evaluation of a comfortable shoes. Here, 29 human satisfaction dimensions for a shoe design were identified as the dimensions that represent the human sensitivity and psychological feeling on comfortable shoes. Also, we proposed 60 human interface elements as the engineering characteristics. The relationships between human satisfaction dimensions and human interface elements were investigated. This study will help the designers and manufacturers clarify the conceptual and abstract aspect of the design evaluation by proposing a more systematic and process-oriented method.

A Study on the Application of Quality Function Deployment for the Success of Social Commerce (소셜커머스 성공을 위한 품질기능전개(QFD) 적용에 관한 연구)

  • In order to enhance the understanding of social commerce which is widely spreading globally in a few years, the characteristics selecting social commerce company are analyzed by using quality function deployment(QFD) that is popular in quality management area. To achieve this purpose, this study investigates the concept, market environment, and major competitors of social commerce and interactive relationship between customer's requirements and service characteristics was uncovered by using the house of quality(HOQ) which is a method of QFD. In addition, this study proposes the conceptual model integrating analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and QFD by quantitatively evaluating the importance of customer's requirements and service characteristics.
