Effects of Dietary Multi-nutritional Targeted Supplementation According to Different Growth Stages on Performance and Carcass Characteristics of Hanwoo Steers

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary multi-nutritional targeted supplementation according to different growth stages on performance, blood metabolites and carcass characteristics of Korean native Hanwoo steers. Thirty two Hanwoo steers, 6 months of age and weighing $159.2{\pm}24.1\;kg$, were distributed into 2 groups: control group without any supplements, and multi-nutritional targeted supplementation (MNTS) treatment group supplied with wheat bran and catechins (WBC, 8 to 16 months of age), ruminally protected amino acid-enriched fatty acid (RPAFA, 17 to 28 months of age) and ruminally protected choline with vitamin E (RPCV, 22 to 28 months of age), respectively. Average daily gain was not significantly different between the two groups. During the late fattening period, concentrate, rice straw and dry matter intakes were relatively lower in MNTS than in the control group. Rib eye area, back fat thickness and yield index were similar between the two groups. Meat color was relatively lower in MNTS compared with the control group. The appearance rate of high quality grade ($1^{++}$, $1^+$ and 1) tended to be higher in MNTS compared with the control group. Thus, the present results indicate that dietary multi-nutritional targeted supplementation at different growth stages could be recommendable to increase income according to production of high quality Hanwoo beef without any negative effects on growth performance and carcass characteristics.

평창동계올림픽 사후관리를 위한 기록화전략 제안 (A Recording Strategy Proposal for the Post-Management of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 2018년 2월 개최된 평창동계올림픽 사후관리를 위한 기록화전략을 제안하는 데 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 평창동계올림픽 사후관리 기록의 가치와 기록의 유형을 파악하고 국내와 국외에서 진행된 메가 스포츠이벤트 사후관리 사례를 선정하여 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 평창동계올림픽 사후관리를 위한 기록화전략으로서 3가지를 제안할 수 있다. 첫째, 기록화 대상과 주체, 주제별, 계층별 범위를 명확하게 설정한 후 사후관리를 실시해야 한다. 둘째, 제한적인 문헌기록의 보완을 위해 구술기록을 통한 사후관리를 실시한다. 셋째, 홈페이지와 온라인 플랫폼을 통한 서비스시스템을 구축하여 사후관리에 활용해야 한다. 본 연구결과는 향후 평창동계올림픽기념관 건립과 국내 메가 스포츠이벤트의 사후관리를 위한 기록화 전략 마련에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Effects of Amino Acid-enriched Ruminally Protected Fatty Acids on Plasma Metabolites, Growth Performance and Carcass Characteristics of Hanwoo Steers

  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of amino acid-enriched ruminally protected fatty acid (AARPFA) on plasma fatty acids and amino acids, growth performance and carcass characteristics of Korean native steers (Hanwoo) by simultaneous supply of fatty acids and limiting amino acids (methionine and lysine). Eighteen finishing Hanwoo steers, 18 months of age and weighing an average of $459.0{\pm}38.9\;kg$, were used for studies of the metabolism of plasma fatty acids and amino acids during supplementation of AARPFA. Also, 45 finishing Hanwoo steers, 16 months of age and weighing an average of $408.6{\pm}26.5\;kg$, were used for growth performance and carcass characteristics during supplemention of AARPFA. There were three treatments which comprised a basal diet supplemented with AARPFA at 0 g (T1), 50 g (T2) or 100 g (T3), respectively. Concentrations of saturated, unsaturated and total fatty acids in plasma were increased in T3 compared with other treatments (p<0.05). Concentrations of methionine and lysine in plasma were linearly increased with increasing levels of AARPFA (p<0.01). Average daily gain, dry matter intake and feed conversion ratio were not different among the treatments. Marbling score measured by ultra-sound scanning was higher in T3 than in T1 at 24 months of age (p<0.05). Rib eye area, back fat thickness, yield index and yield grade score were similar across the treatments. Marbling score and quality grade score were higher in T3 compared with other treatments (p<0.01). Thus, plasma fatty acids, methionine and lysine metabolism were affected by supplementing with 100 g of AARPFA which also had positive effects on marbling score and meat quality grade of finishing Hanwoo steers.

환경규제 지역과 규제저항 분석 - 평창을 사례로 - (The Analysis of Environmental Protection Sector and Regulation Resistance -A Study on Pyeongchang-)

  • 이 연구는 개발가능성이 높은 지역이 규제지역으로 설정되어 있을 때 규제지역과 규제지역의 주변으로 규제저항이 발생할 것이라는 전제에서 출발한다. 그리고 이에 대한 분석은 GIS를 활용한 공간분석 방법으로 수행하였으며, 평창을 연구지역으로 하였다. 평창의 환경관련 규제현황을 조사하여 환경규제지도를 제작하고, 평창지역 전체의 상대적 개발 가능성 정도를 등급화 하였다. 그리고 이렇게 제작된 규제지도와 개발가능성등급도를 이용하여 상대적인 규제저항 정도를 측정하였다. 그 결과 평창의 환경관련 규제 비율은 남한강 유역권 전체의 규제 비율 보다 높게 나타났으며, 개발 가능성이 높은 지역과 환경 규제지역을 중첩하여 분석한 결과 읍면단위에서는 도암면과 진부면의 규제저항이 높을 것으로 예상되었다. 그리고 평창의 신규건물(1999년 $\sim$ 2005년) 입지와 환경규제와의 관계를 분석한 결과 개발가능성 등급이 높고 규제지역과 인접한 지역에 집중적으로 분포(신규건물의 약 66%가 규제지역으로부터 500m 이내 지역에 분포)하였다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때 지방정부와 주민에게 직접적인 이익을 제공하지 못하는 규제권역 설정 위주의 환경정책은 난 개발과 그에 따른 환경파괴라는 내재된 문제를 지니고 있음을 보여주는 것이다.

A Duplex PCR Assay for Differentiating Native Common Buckwheat and Tartarian Buckwheat, and Its Application for the Rapid Detection of Buckwheat Ingredients in Food

  • One of the major allergenic proteins in common buckwheat (Fagopyrum elculentum) was found to be a BW10KD. In this work, allergenic BW10KD genomic DNAs from the native common buckwheat 'Pyeongchang' and Tartarian buckwheat 'Clfa47' were cloned by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and their nucleotide sequences were determined. In addition, a novel PCR assay targeting the allergenic BW10KD gene was developed to detect and differentiate both buckwheat species in food. The nucleotide sequences of the BW10KD genomic DNA from 'Pyeongchang' and 'Clfa47' were 94% identical. Base differences in the nucleotide sequences of the BW10KD genes are probably useful as a molecular marker for species-specific identification. The 'Pyeongchang'-specific primer set 154PF/400PR and the 'Clfa47'-specific primer set 154DF/253DR generated 247 and 100 bp fragments in singleplex PCR, respectively. A duplex PCR assay with 2 species-specific primer sets simultaneously differentiated the 'Pyeongchang' and 'Clfa47' in a single reaction. The PCR assay also successfully allowed for the rapid detection of buckwheat ingredients in foods.

2018평창동계올림픽 시설 사후활용에 대한 경제적 가치: 정선군 알파인 경기장을 사례로 (The Economic Value for the Post-use of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Facilities: Case of Alpine Stadium in Jeongseon)

  • Purpose - This study estimated the value of the post-use of Alpine stadium in Jeongseon as a tourist attraction, which is one of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics facilities, and identified determinant factors on the willingness to pay (WTP). Design/methodology/approach - A dichotomous-choice model of contingent valuation method (CVM) that is known for an effective tool was used to calculate the value. The questionnaire was conducted on 650 visitors to major tourist destinations in Jeongseon and 629 copies of the valid samples were analyzed. Findings - The results shows that determinate factors on the WTP are; suggestion cost, need (application of Ecotourism Program to the Restoration Process), agree(agree to Ecotourism Program in the Restoration Process) and age. Also, the WTP on the facility is 16,296 won per person. Research implications or Originality - This study estimates the value of the post-utilization of Alpine Stadium of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics facilities, which have been experiencing conflict in recent years. For this reason, the findings of the paper will provide meaningful information for tourism development and management policies of the region.

2018 평창동계올림픽 대종의 제작과 음향 평가 (Manufacturing and Sound Estimation of the Great Bell of 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics)

  • This paper introduces the design, casting, and sound evaluation results of the Great Bell of 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. The Olympic Bell was manufactured to announce the opening of the successful Winter Olympics in the world with a grand sound. The bell was designed to the dynamic shape to give a grand and harmonious sound in consideration of the global sports festival. In this study, the performance of the beat making the sound magnificent and the harmony of the bell sound were quantitatively evaluated using acoustical factors. Beat maps were investigated to understand the directivity of the beating sound. The purpose of the research is to present the production technique of a traditional Korean bell that has a dynamic shape and a grand and harmonious sound.

Brucellosis outbreak of Korean indigenous cattle at Yeongwol and Pyeongchang county in Korea

  • This study was attempted to investigate the properties of brucellosis in Korean indigenous cattle at the Yeongwol and Pyeongchang county. Brucella spp was differentiated and identified from cotyledons, amniotic fluids and supramammary lymph nodes which confirmed with clinical, serological, epidemiological evidences (69 cases) from January to June, 2004. Isolation frequency of this causative agent from supramammary lymph nodes, cotyledons and amniotic fluids from 38 pregnant Korean indigenous cattle were $39.1\%,\;87.5\%,\;and\;63.2\%$, respectively, and finally confirmed with Brucella abortus biotype 1 through biochemical and serological test. A Brucella specific DNA with 711bp band was detected by PCR assay using BCSP primer. The two cases were definite epidemiological evidences that infected Korean indigenous cattle acrossed the border to Yeongwol and Pyeongchang from near two provinces. Effective prevention programs are urgently needed for further spreading this epidemics.

  • By the present study on the geological structure of the area, it becomes clear that the formations known as the Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, and Yeongweol types of the Joseon System are no more than the structural repetitions of the Duwibong type of the System, and that the so far known thrust fault in the area is merely a overturned anticline associated with some displacement along the axial plane.

지역별 기후에 따른 비주거 건축물 패시브 수준 단열기준 연구 (Study on Insulation Standards at Passive Level of Non-Residential Buildings by Regional Climate)

  • This study proposes an appropriate level of insulation standards by region through annual heating energy requirements according to regional climate. The reference buildings out of non-residential buildings approved by the energy saving design standard for buildings were derived in the previous study, in which the annual heating energy requirements for each building were as follows when the insulation standard for building members in four regions (Pyeongchang, Seoul, Gwang-ju, and Jeju) suggested by the energy saving design standard for buildings: $29.8kWh/m^2$ in Pyeongchang, $17.5kWh/m^2$ in Seoul, $14.4kWh/m^2$ in Gwangju, and $16.7kWh/m^2$ in Jeju. To satisfy the passive level of insulation standards for these buildings, in case that roof/floor of buildings in Pyeongchang and Seoul was $0.2W/m^2K$, the minimum window thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.9W/m^2K$ and the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.1W/m^2K$ in the case of Pyeongchang. On the other hand, the minimum window thermal transmittance should satisfy $1.5W/m^2K$ and the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.14W/m^2K$ in the case of Seoul. For Jeju regions, the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.34W/m^2K$ to meet the passive level of buildings. Based on the above results, the thermal transmittance of each member by region should take the outdoor climate condition of the region into consideration to satisfy the passive level of buildings.
