  • This study examines how brands can be managed to influence the degree of their resistance to negative information and the extent to which this immunity to negative information predicts the purchase intention of consumers. In particular, the study investigated the difference between brand commitment and brand immunity on negative information in terms of the concept and the power of influence. A total of 410 usable questionnaires were obtained through an internet survey. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated using AMOS 18.0 to examine the relationship among a brand's social responsibility, quality orientation, brand innovativeness, easy purchase intention, and difficult purchase intention. The results showed that brand's social responsibility had significant effects on brand immunity to negative information while quality orientation and brand innovativeness had significant effects on brand commitment. In addition, brand immunity had significant effects on brand commitment and then brand commitment had a significant effect on easy and difficult purchase intentions. The key implications for research and management are discussed.

  • This study analyzes the influence factors of IPTV users on the purchase of paid contents. This study carries out a web-log analysis of the actual users of the service provided by the domestic IPTV providers and classifies the influence factors on the purchase of paid contents largely into VOC, switching barriers, and content consumption pattern to conduct an empirical analysis. As analysis procedure, first, this study analyzes the preceding researches related to the core influence factors and content-purchasing patterns, and second, conducts a basic statistics analysis of the distribution of basic characteristics of the logs used, as presented in the above. Third, this study carries out a multiple regression analysis as an estimating equation of the number of purchasing the paid content depending on switching barriers of IPTV service, VOC, and content consumption pattern. As a statistical package, Stata version 11.2 was used. Through the empirical analysis, this study found that of the service use logs, VOC and content consumption pattern had a multi-dimensional impact on the purchase of premium contents. On the other hand, this study also found that the impact of switching barriers such as combination state with other products and current status of holding a point did not have a significant impact on the purchase of paid contents.

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the need for school uniform recycling and to review the school uniform recycling-related education. 231 female high school students were asked to answer regarding the wearing state of school uniform and their satisfaction level. 10 subjects in middle school technology/home economy were evaluated. As the result, the students wore 1~2 pieces of school uniform, which showed that it was hard to keep them clean by washing them often. The satisfaction level of school uniform was not high, The lowest item was the price. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction level of the school uniforms and also to increase the sanitary level of the school uniforms, it was advisable to purchase a recycled school uniform at cheaper prices to have an extra set. For a vitalization of the recycled school uniforms, the middle school technology/home economy subjects were reviewed. In the topic of "clothing acquisition plan and purchase", the themes of planned purchase, overconsumption of clothing and environmental pollution were discussed and included preferable behaviors for disposal. The topic of "clothing manufacturing and recycling" listed recycling the clothes that are not worn or exchanging them with neighbors as well as suggesting methods to illicit environment-friendly behaviors and carrying them out. However, some textbooks only briefly explained the methods of recycling and more detailed and practical methods need to be suggested in the curriculum. In addition, the contents regarding the environment in the clothing topic need to be supplemented more and more changes, such as related education plans or data development, are required. • To infer the true state of a regional product's attributes, consumers use the image they have of the product's region of origin; however, products may have multiple countries of origin in their design, branding, sourcing and manufacturing becuase more products are increasingly a result of multi-firm and multi-country efforts. We examined how the country-of-origin image (country image and product image) affect international consumers' perceived value (function value and symbolic value) and purchase intentions of made-in China goods by extending and deepening the flexible model. Second, to investigate the differences of COO effects according to different types of country-of-origin we divided the traditional country-of-origin into two components: country-of-manufacture (COM) and country-of-brand (COB). We then explore how the impact of China's country image on consumers' perceived value and purchase intentions varies when China is the COM or COB of the same product. Six hypotheses were proposed to test our anticipations. We recruited 800 Korean adult consumers who previously purchased made-in China products to participate in the online investigation. Data analyses were conducted with confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling using SPSS and AMOS. The main results are discussed as follows. First, the effects of China's COO image on Korean consumers' perceived value and purchase intentions vary when China is the COM or COB of a product. Second, a positive effect of the function value and symbolic value on the purchase intentions was found. Literature and practical implications of findings are discussed and suggested in the conclusion.

  • Trust is one of the most important aspects of the relationship between retailers and consumers in e-commerce. Users may have concerns about transaction security or personal information leakage when they engage in transactions over the Internet. It can be difficult to attract customers if the retailers or service providers cannot establish trust with their customers. There have been many studies of trust-building mechanisms between customers and e-storefronts. However, little work has been done on identifying the relationships between customer satisfaction, purchase intention, and trust. In addition, trust building occurs in the pre- and post-purchase phases of an e-commerce transaction, as well as gradually over repeated transactions. Thus we distinguish between cue-based trust and experience-based trust. The objective of this study was to explain the impact of trust on customer satisfaction and purchase intention in relation to e-commerce sites from the perspective of a multi-dimensional concept of trust. We surveyed 350 undergraduate students and obtained 331 responses for analysis. The result of our analysis showed that cue-based trust has a positive relationship with trust based on experience. Although the two concepts of trust have positive relationships with satisfaction, the path coefficient of trust based on experience was higher than that of cue-based trust. In addition, the purchase intention mediates the relationship between cue-based trust and experience-based trust.

  • This study is to analyze the effect of product involvement on consumer purchase process. From review on previous involvement literatures, enduring product involvement can be defined as "a person's arousal and motivational state activated by product on the basis of his basic value, objective and ego-relevance." To evaluate the effect of involvement on product purchase process, 11 hyphotheses concerning behavioral aspects which is expected to comprise consumer purchase process and to be influenced by degree of involvement were constructed: prepurchase information search, alternative brand comparision, utilization of product attribute, brand differentiation, brand commitment, product knowledge, influence of reference group, dependence on price, price awareness, cognitive dissonance and purchase optimization. Hyphotheses are tested with data from 388 housewives through 20 item involvement scale developed with multi-dimensional perspective on involvement. The scale successfully provides rank order of 8 selected products expected to cover the spectrum of product involvement: formal clothes, coffee, washing machine, shampoo, perfume, detergent, soft drink, pain-reliever as the order of product involvement. Major findings of this study are as follow. First of all, incresed differences were found in hihg involvement product like formal clothes with respect to the degree of prepurchase information search, alternative brand comparision, utilization of product attribute, influence of reference group in any method of analysis. Secondly, invlovement should be interpreted as a consumer characteristic rather than a product one. This means that consumers involve themselves with products, instead products themselves do not have any involvement.

  • Research on consumers' perception and willingness to purchase Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) is necessary to simulate BEVs' deployment in South Korea because South Korea's BEVs market is still in the early stage. This paper derives a theoretical framework for consumer segmentation based on consumers' willingness to purchase before and after BEV usage experience. In particular, this study empirically evaluates consumers' willingness to purchase and concerns using the survey data from BEVs users in either Seoul or the Jeju region. The empirical results from logit models show that experienced consumers' concerns about the heater and air conditioning (HAC) in BEVs decreased the consumers' willingness to buy, while greater daily driving distances increased the consumers' willingness to buy. In addition, the empirical findings from ordered probit models show that experienced consumers' concerns about the short driving distance, the availability of maintenance service (i.e., A/S service) during unexpected events, and the difficulties of driving BEVs up-hill increased the degree of concern about HAC. This paper will provide insights related to consumer segmentation, R&D, marketing strategies, and policy design for policymakers and firms.

  • The purpose of the study is to explore strategies to revitalize the distribution of landscaping plants in Gangwon State (hereinafter referred to as Gangwon-do). To understand the current distribution status and perception of landscape materials in Gangwon-do, a survey was conducted on producers and consumers focusing on cultivation area and method, cultivated species and quantity, purchase species and quantity, and purchase area. Producers often cultivated open land, and in the case of trees and shrubs, most of them cultivated <5 species. On the other hand, consumers preferred field cultivation products when purchasing trees and shrubs. Approximately 6-10 species of trees and shrubs were preferred for a single purchase, confirming an imbalance in the supply and demand of landscaping plants. In addition, both producers and consumers had a positive perception of landscape plant transactions in Gangwon-do; however, the dissatisfaction factors for producers included a small consumer base and difficulties for them in securing standards and quantities. Based on these results, it is necessary to establish a platform that can interconnect producers' landscape plant cultivation information with consumers' requirements to rejuvenate the landscape plant distribution market and enhance competitiveness in Gangwon-do. In addition, this platform is expected to have a positive impact on improving the quality of landscaping plants, setting reasonable prices, and increasing domestic demand in Gangwon-do by providing opportunities for cultivation, promotion, and marketing education through producer support projects.
