Evaluation of Circle Machining Surface Roughness on the Process Conditions using Neural Network (신경회로망을 이용한 가공조건에 따른 원형가공 표면거칠리 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimization machining condition for the wire electric machine. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge. In this experiment, we changed no-node voltage to 7 and 9, pulse-on-time to $6{\mu}s,\;8{\mu}s$ and $10{\mu}s$, pulse-off-time to $8{\mu}s,\;10{\mu}s$ and $13{\mu}s$, and experimented on wire tension at room temperature by 1000gf, 1200gf, and 1400gf, respectively.

An Ultrasonic Positioning System Using Zynq SoC (Zynq-SoC를 이용한 초음파 위치추적 시스템)

  • In this research, a high-performance ultrasonic positioning system is proposed to track the positions of an indoor mobile object. Composed of an ultrasonic sender (mobile object) and a receiver (anchor), the system employs three ultrasonic time-off-flights (TOFs) and trilateration to estimate the positions of the object with an accuracy of sub-centimeter. On the other hand, because ultrasonic waves are interfered by temperature, wind and various obstacles obstructing the propagation while propagating in air, ultrasonic pulse debounce technique and Kalman filter were applied to TOF and position calculation, respectively, to compensate for the interference and to obtain more accurate moving object position. To perform tasks in real time, ultrasonic signals are processed full-digitally with a Zynq SoC, and as a software design tool, Vivado IDE(integrated design environment) is used to design the whole signal processing system in hierarchical block diagrams. And, a hardware/software co-design is implemented, where the digital circuit portion is designed in the Zynq's fpga and the software portion is c-coded in the Zynq's processors by using the baremetal multiprocessing scheme in which the c-codes are distributed to dual-core processors, cpu0 and cpu1. To verify the usefulness of the proposed system, experiments were performed and the results were analyzed, and it was confirmed that the moving object could be tracked with accuracy of sub-cm.

  • A gas fueling system composed of a gas reservoir, an on-off valve, and a gas transferring tube, which is the simplest construction for the pre-programmed gas puffing, was simulated by numerically solving the time-dependent one-dimensional gas flow equation. The purpose of the simulation is to establish the relationship between the gas flow pattern (the elapsed time to the maximum flow, the maximum flow rate, the gas pulse duration) and the system parameters (the filling pressure and the volume of the gas reservoir, and the length and the diameter of the gas transferring tube).

  • We propose pulse-mode dynamic $R_on$ measurement as a method for analyzing the effect of stress on large-scale high-power AlGaN/GaN HFETs. The measurements were carried out under the soft-switching condition (zero-voltage switching) and aimed to minimize the self-heating problem that exists with the conventional hard-switching measurement. The dynamic $R_on$ of the fabricated AlGaN/GaN MIS-HFETs was measured under different stabilization time conditions. To do so, the drain-gate bias is set to zero after applying the off-state stress. As the stabilization time increased from $ 0.1{\mu}s$ to 100 ms, the dynamic $R_on$ decreased from $160\Omega$ to $2\Omega$. This method will be useful in developing high-performance GaN power FETs suitable for use in high-efficiency converter/inverter topology design.

AC Servo Motor Control Using Low Voltage High Performance DSP (저전압 고성능 DSP를 이용한 AC 서보모터 제어)

  • Recently with the development of power switching device and DSP which has peripheral devices to control AC servo system, the servo technology has met a new development opportunity. Those things make it possible to reduce the time of developing a AC servo system. Fixed point DSP such as TMS320F240x, and TMS320F28x series have a disadvantage in calculating floating number where TMS320C32 or TMS320C31 are floating point DSP. However they usually become a complex hardware system to implement the AC servo system and it increases the cost. In this study, a DSP based AC servo system with a 3-phase PMSM is proposed. The newly produced DSP TMX320F28l2-version C which has the performance of fast speed, 150MIPS, and a rich peripheral interface such as a 12bit high speed AD converter, QEP(Quadrature Encoder Pulse) circuit, PDPINT(Power Drive Protect Interrupt), SVPWM module and dead time module are used. This paper presents a method to overcome fixed point calculating using scaling all parameters. Also space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) using off-set voltage and a digital PI control are implemented to the servo system.

Trade-off Characteristic between Gate Length Margin and Hot Carrier Lifetime by Considering ESD on NMOSFETs of Submicron Technology

  • Hot carrier degradation and roll off characteristics of threshold voltage ($V_{t1}$) on NMOSFETs as I/O transistor are studied as a function of Lightly Doped Drain (LDD) structures. Pocket dose and the combination of Phosphorus (P) and Arsenic (As) dose are applied to control $V_{t1}$ roll off down to the $10\%$ gate length margin. It was seen that the relationship between $V_{t1}$ roll off characteristic and substrate current depends on P dopant dose. For the first time, we found that the n-p-n transistor triggering voltage ($V_{t1}$) depends on drain current, and both $I_{t2}$ and snapback holding voltage ($V_{sp}$) depend on the substrate current by characterization with a transmission line pulse generator. Also it was found that the improved lifetime for hot carrier stress could be obtained by controlling the P dose as loosing the $V_{t1}$ roll off margin. This study suggests that the trade-off characteristic between gate length margin and channel hot carrier (CHC) lifetime in NMOSFETs should be determined by considering Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) characteristic.

Maximum Torque Operation of SRM by using a Self-tuning Control Method (SRM의 최대 토크 운전을 위한 자기동조 제어)

  • This paper presents a Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) drive using the self-tuning control method to achieve the maximum torque. SRM has the difficulty to research it by an analytic method and to control the speed End torque because of the high nonlinearity. So, in this paper, the self-tuning control method is applied to relevantly controlling turn-on/off angle to operate at the maximum torque. Also, the feedback signals to control the turn-on/off angle are the encoder pulse and the increment of phase current. At first, n adequate turn-off angle is searched by itself and then a turn-on angle is done. As the relationship between turn-on and him-off angle is mutual dependent, the turn-on/off angle is controlled by a real time self-tuning control method in order to maintain the maximum torque. The proposed self-tuning Algorithm is verified by experiments.

  • In this paper, a LC series resonant boost converter using a single switch is proposed. The proposed topology contains additional passive elements in the conventional boost converter and performs Zero Voltage Switching(ZVS) without an additional auxiliary switch when a main switch turned on and off. The switch off time of the proposed system determined by LC series resonance, thus a on-time variable Pulse Frequency Modulation(PFM) method is adapted to control output voltage in the proposed converter. Operational modes of the proposed topology are divided with respected to the current conduction paths and then through the theoretical analysis and experimental results, operational modes and characteristics of the proposed converter are verified.

  • The conventional PWM method, which was used in controlling the on-off valve, such as high-speed solenoid valve, was modulating the width of the pulse applied to the valve, by selecting arbitrary sampling time and modulating the duty-ratio in proportion to the error. However, in this method, a selection of long sampling time was inevitable and it was unable to get a high accuracy and a quick response. This study is for designing an appropriate controller for high-speed solenoid valve by proposing an improved duty-ratio modulation method using the Saw-toothed Carrier Wave which enables a short sampling time selection, high accuracy of control, and a quick response. Test which was carried out in the laboratory shows that transient and steady state response could be improved by PID controller.

  • The electrical and optical switching characteristics of gold-doped silicon p-i-n diodes have been investigated. The device shows a dark switching voltage of about 500 V. The switching voltage decreases rapidly when the illumination level is increased. The differential sensitivity of optical gating over linear region is $d(V_{Th}/V_{Tho})/dP_{Ph}$=0.25/uW. The turn-on delay time and the turn-on rise time decrease with increasing optical pulse power. The turn-off delay and the fall time are negligible.
