In this paper, we designed the COS MEMS system for sensing the falling detection and explosive noise of fuse link in COS (Cut Out Switch) installing on the power distribution. This system analyzed the failure characteristics and an instantaneous breakdown of power distribution. Therefore, our system strengths the industrial competence and guaranties the stable power supply. In this paper, we applied BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology which is suitable protocol for low data rate, low power consumption and low-cost sensor applications. We experimented with LSM6DSOX which is system-in-module featuring 3 axis digital accelerometer and gyroscope boosting in high-performance mode and enabling always-on low-power features for an optimal motion for the COS fuse holder. Also, we used the MP34DT05-A for gathering an ultra-compact, low power, omnidirectional, digital MEMS microphone built with a capacitive sensing element and an IC interface. The proposed COS MEMS system is developed based on nRF52 SoC (System on Chip), and contained a 3-axis digital accelerometer, a digital microphone, and a SD card. In this paper of experiment steps, we analyzed the performance of COS MEMS system with gathering the accelerometer raw data and the PDM (Pulse Data Modulation) data of MEMS microphone for broadcasting the failure of COS status.

This study investigates the structure and operation of the ITER VS converter and proposes a sequence control method for six series-connected VS converters to reduce reactive power. The operation and the proposed sequence control method are verified through RTDS simulation. The ITER VS converter must supply voltage/current to the superconducting magnets for plasma current vertical stabilization, and the four-quadrant operation must proceed without a zero-current discontinuous section. The operation mode of the VS converter is separated into a 12- and 6-pulse circulating current and transition modes according to the size of the load current. The output voltage of the unit VS converter is limited because of the rated voltage; however, the superconducting coil must increase the operating output voltage. Thus, the VS converter must be connected in a 6-series to provide the required operating output voltage. The output voltage of the VS converters is controlled continuously; however, reactive power is limited within a minimized value of the grid. In this study, the unit converter is compared with converters connected in a 6-series to determine a suitable sequence control method. The output voltage is the same in all cases, but the maximum reactive power is reduced from 100% to 73%. This sequence control method is verified through RTDS simulation.

Fast recovery diodes (FRDs) were developed using the $p^{{+}{+}}/n^-/n^{{+}{+}}$ epitaxial layers grown by low temperature epitaxy technology. We investigated the effect of electrostatic discharge (ESD) stresses on their electrical and switching properties using current-voltage (I-V) and reverse recovery time analyses. The FRDs presented a high breakdown voltage, >450 V, and a low reverse leakage current, < $10^{-9}$ A. From the temperature dependence of thermal activation energy, the reverse leakage current was dominated by thermal generation-recombination and diffusion, respectively, at low and high temperature regions. By virtue of the abrupt junction and the Pt drive-in for the controlling of carrier lifetime, the soft reverse recovery behavior could be obtained along with a well-controlled reverse recovery time of 21.12 ns. The FRDs exhibited excellent ESD robustness with negligible degradations in the I-V and the reverse recovery characteristics up to ${\pm}5.5$ kV of HBM and ${\pm}3.5$ kV of IEC61000-4-2 shocks. Likewise, transmission line pulse (TLP) analysis reveals that the FRDs can handle the maximum peak pulse current, $I_{pp,max}$, up to 30 A in the forward mode and down to - 24 A in the reverse mode. The robust ESD property can improve the long term reliability of various power applications such as automobile and switching mode power supply.

Power Transformers with more than one secondary winding are not uncommon in industrial applications. But new classes of applications where very large number of independent secondaries are used are becoming popular in controlled converters for medium and high voltage applications. Cascade H-bridge medium voltage drives and Pulse Step Modulation (PSM) based high voltage power supplies are such applications. Regulated high voltage power supplies (Fig. 1) with 35-100 kV, 5-10 MW output range with very fast dynamics (${\mu}S$ order) uses such transformers. Such power supplies are widely used in fusion research. Here series connection of isolated voltage sources with conventional switching semiconductor devices is achieved by large number of separate transformers or by single unit of multi-secondary transformer. Naturally, a transformer having numbers of secondary windings (~40) on single core is the preferred solution due to space and cost considerations. For design and simulation analysis of such a power supply, the model of a multi-secondary transformer poses special problem to any circuit analysis software as many simulation softwares provide transformer models with limited number (3-6) of secondary windings. Multi-Secondary transformer models with 3 different schemes are available. A comparison of test results from a practical Multi-secondary transformer with a simulation model using magnetic component is found to describe the behavior closer to observed test results. Earlier models assumed magnetising inductance in a linear loss less core model although in actual it is saturable core made-up of CRGO steel laminations. This article discusses a more detailed representation of flux coupled magnetic model with saturable core properties to simulate actual transformers very close to its observed parameters in test and actual usage.
Three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) rectifiers are usually designed under the assumption of ideal ac power supply and input inductance. However, non-ideal circuit parameters may lead to a voltage collapse of PWM rectifiers. This paper investigates the mechanism of voltage collapse in three-phase PWM rectifiers. An analytical stability boundary expression is derived by analyzing the equilibrium point of the averaging state space model, which can not only accurately locate the voltage collapse boundary in the circuit parameter domain, but also reveal the essential characteristic of the voltage collapse. Results are obtained and compared with those of the trial-error method and the Jacobian method. Based on the analysis results, the system parameters can be divided into two categories. One of these categories affects the critical point, and other affects only the instability process. Furthermore, an effective control strategy is proposed to prevent a vulnerable system from being driven into the instability region. The analysis results are verified by the experiments.

Recently, Uninterruptible power supply(UPS) is spotlighted from concern about black out, due to reserve power problem caused by increased power consumption. When fault occurs on the grid, UPS system supplies power to loads instead of the grid. Also, it is an advantage of possible operation as Energy storage system(ESS). Bi-directional power control of AC/DC Pulse width modulation(PWM) converter is essential for grid-connected UPS system. And, mode transfer control has to be performed considering phase and dynamic characteristic under grid condition. In this paper, control of mode transfer and bi-directional power control of AC/DC PWM converter is proposed for UPS system. Also, it is verified by simulation and experimental results.
This paper describes a design of several ship's emergency lighting system(SELS) that power factor is improved and power is controlled extensively, and techniques to control and monitor this system in remote distance by PC serial communication. The remote monitoring control system is composed of emergency power supply system (EPSS), half bridge(HB)inverter, fluorescent lamp(FL), microprocessor, multi communication interface. EPSS checks the voltage of the emergency backup battery in real time. In case that the voltage of 13[V] or less has been detected for 5[msec] or longer for 3 times in a row, charger circuit is connected for battery charging. Experimental works using proposed system confirm that speedy and stable power to be supplied when main power source cut-off, compared with conventional analog type, and input power up to 35.0[%] by adjusting of pulse frequency of the HB inverter.
In order to optimize the pulse electroforming copper process, a double hidden layer BP (Back Propagation) neural network is constructed. Through sample training, the mapping relationship between electroforming copper process conditions and target properties is accurately established, and the prediction of microhardness and tensile strength of the electroforming layer in the pulse electroforming copper process is realized. The predicted results are verified by electrodeposition copper test in copper pyrophosphate solution system with pulse power supply. The results show that the microhardness and tensile strength of copper layer predicted by "3-4-3-2" structure double hidden layer neural network are very close to the experimental values, and the relative error is less than 2.32%. In the parameter range, the microhardness of copper layer is between 100.3~205.6MPa and the tensile strength is between 112~485MPa.When the microhardness and tensile strength are optimal, the corresponding process conditions are as follows: current density is 2A-dm-2, pulse frequency is 2KHz and pulse duty cycle is 10%.
DC/DC switching power converters are commonly used to generate a regulated DC output voltages with high efficiencies from different DC input sources. The voltage mode DC/DC converter utilizes MOSFET (metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor), inductor, and a PWM (pulse-width modulation) controller with oscillator, amplifier, and comparator, etc. to efficiently transfer energy from the input to the output at periodic intervals. The fundamental boost converter and a buck converter containing a switched-mode power supply are studied. In this paper, the electrical characteristics of DC/DC power converters are simulated by program of SPICE, and the PWM controller is implemented to check the operation. In addition, power efficiency is analyzed based on the specification of each component.
Modern AC electric car has PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) -controlled converters, which give rise to higher harmonics. The current harmonics injected from AC electric car is propagated through power feeding circuit. As the feeding circuit is a distributed constant circuit composed of RLC, the capacitance of the feeding circuit and the inductance on the side of power system cause a parallel resonance and a magnification of current harmonics at a specific frequency. The magnified current harmonics usually brings about various problems. That is, the current harmonics makes interference in the adjacent lines of communications and the railway signalling system. Furthermore, in case it flows on the side of power system, not only overheating and vibration at the power capacitors but also wrong operation at the protective devices can occur. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. From these point of view, this study presents an approach to model and to analyse traction power feeding system focused on the amplification of harmonic current. The proposed algorithm is applied to a standard AT(Auto-transformer)-fed test system in which electric car with PWM-controlled converters is running.
