The bond performance of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars and that of steel bars embedded in Alkali Activated Cement (AAC) concrete are analysed and compared using pull-out specimens. The bond failure modes, the average bond strength and the free end bond stress-slip curves are used for comparison. Tepfers' concrete ring model is used to further analyse the splitting failure in ribbed steel bar and GFRP bar specimens. The angle the bond forces make with the bar axis was calculated and used for comparing bond behaviour of ribbed steel bar and GFRP bars in AAC concrete. The results showed that bond failure mode plays a significant role in the comparison of the average bond stress of the specimens at failure. In case of pull-out failure mode, specimens with ribbed steel bars showed a higher bond strength while specimens with GFRP bars showed a higher bond stress in case of splitting failure mode. Comparison of the bond stress-slip curves of ribbed steel bars and GFRP bars depicted that the constant bond stress region at the peak is much smaller in case of GFRP bars than ribbed steel bars indicating a basic bond mechanism difference in GFRP and ribbed steel bars.

The influence of tire belt angle on the Plysteer Residual Aligning Torque(PRAT) and the cornering stiffness by the FEM has been studied. The PRAT is a performance factor of the tire about vehicle pull, and the cornering stiffness has relation to vehicle steering response of outdoor test. To validate FE model for analysis, simulation data for both the static stiffness(vertical, lateral) and the PRAT have been compared with the experimental data. In addition to the characteristics of the PRAT and the cornering stiffness due to the tire belt angle, rolling and cornering contact characteristics have been studied. The tendency of the PRAT and the cornering stiffness due to the belt angle can be used as a guide line for the tire design in relation to vehicle pull and vehicle steering response.

A moving coil linear oscillatory actuator is consisted of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular structure and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. The variation of mover position and the consequent changes of coil flux path affect the coil inductance, because coil flux leaks at the open region of LOA stator. The interaction between permanent magnet and armature field is to shift the airgap flux density variation due to the magnet alone by a certain amount. The unbalanced reciprocation force due to armature reaction field decreases the advantage of moving coil LOA, such as a high degree of linearity and controllability in the force ad motion control. This paper firstly describes the coil inductance, the deviation of flux density, and the unbalanced reciprocation force, which are derived form the permeance model of LOA. Secondly, the analytical method are verified using the 2D finite element method and tests. Finally, the dynamic simulation algorithm taking the armature reaction effect and variable inductance into account, is proposed and confirmed through the experiment.

This paper presents on the development of wheel-terrain interaction device using low-priced sensors, which will be used to predict the drawbar pull and optimal slip of off-road vehicle in real time. The essential variables obtained in the device to predict the mobility of vehicles are determined based on semi-empirical model describing the wheel-terrain interaction. Using the developed device, the experiments about the wheel-terrain interaction were performed on the soil of the Jumunjin standard sand, which yielded dynamic weight, motor driving torque, drawbar pull, and sinkage with respect to wheel slip ratio. Finally, the repeatability of the measured data are verified through repeating the experiments three times on the same condition.
This study was designed to investigate the stress intensity and distribution produced by 1mm activation of retraction archwire with $0^{\circ},\;7^{\circ},\;14^{\circ}$ torque and application of high polk J-hook headgear during retraction of four maxillary incisors using the photoelastic stress analysis. The photoelastic model was made with a PL-3 type epoxy resin which was substituted by alveolar bone portion. Each retraction archwire was fabricated from .020' X .025' stainless steel wire which had vertical loops in 7mm height and hooks for high pull J-hook headgear between central and lateral incisors. The high pull J-hook headgear was applied 35 degree backward and upward to occlusal plane with 200gm pet each side The findings of this study were as follows: 1. In case of $0^{\circ}$ torque, the stress was distributed from cervical 1/8 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors which were the forms of arc mode. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by arc mode was presented from cervical 1/2 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. And the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented from alveolar crest to cervical 1/2 of roots of central and lateral incisors. The stress between apecies of central and Lateral incisors was presented also. 2. In case of $7^{\circ}$ torque, the stress distributed by arc mode was presented from cervical 1/2 to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. And the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented from alveolar crest to cervical 1/2 of roots of central and lateral incisors. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented mote apically than without headgear. The stress between apecies of central and lateral incisors was presented also. 3. In case of $14^{\circ}$ torque, the stress distributed by following the root surface was Presented from alveolar crest to apex of roots of central and lateral incisors. When the high pull J-hook headgear was applied, the stress distributed by following the root surface was presented stronger than without headgear The stress between apecies of central and lateral incisors was presented also.
The tension load of the ground anchor inserted in the ground gradually changes over time. In this regard the change of the initial tension load is primarily decreased by the fixation condition of the fixing head and the mechanical characteristics of the tensile material. The subsequent additional tension load is a time-dependent loss mostly due to the fixing conditions of the bonded length and the surrounding ground properties of the field. In this paper, therefore, a measurement system using a relative displacement detector that can relatively easily measure the change of tension load is discussed. As a result of the review, it was confirmed that the results using the relative displacement detector are similar to those of the real scale model test, and it was also confirmed that similar results were obtained with the result of the pull-out test conducted on the ground anchors fixed to weathered rocks condition. In addition, a pull-out test was conducted on the test anchors whose initial tension load loss was relatively large and through this test pull-out behavior of the tension type ground anchors was verified.

Chloride attack to reinforced concrete structures located in seaside can cause a serious problem of durability and maintenance during the service life. Corrosion of reinforced steel bars in concrete decreases the bond strength and finally causes the detachment of concrete cover. Polymer cement mortar is usually adopted to repair the deteriorated RC structures because of its strong bonding property. The recovered load-carrying capacity after the repair was simulated by non-linear FEM analysis. The properties of concrete, repairing materials, bonding materials and reinforced bar were used as input data. Four types of redispersible polymer powders were used as components of polymer cement mortar. Pull-off tests were carried out to examine the bond properties such as rigidity and strength. Effects of a corrosion inhibitor and the loss of reinforced bars due to the corrosion were also considered in this study. FEM modeling and analysis were conducted to propose the universal model. Physical bonding in the relationship between repair materials and steel reinforced bar is more dominant than chemical bonding.
This paper presents the design and realization of a digital PV simulator with a Push-Pull Forward (PPF) circuit based on the principle of modular hardware and configurable software. A PPF circuit is chosen as the main circuit to restrain the magnetic biasing of the core for a DC-DC converter and to reduce the spike of the turn-off voltage across every switch. Control and I/O interface based on a personal computer (PC) and multifunction data acquisition card, can conveniently achieve the data acquisition and configuration of the control algorithm and interface due to the abundant software resources of computers. In addition, the control program developed in Matlab/Simulink can conveniently construct and adjust both the models and parameters. It can also run in real-time under the external mode of Simulink by loading the modules of the Real-Time Windows Target. The mathematic models of the Push-Pull Forward circuit and the digital PV simulator are established in this paper by the state-space averaging method. The pole-zero cancellation technique is employed and then its controller parameters are systematically designed based on the performance analysis of the root loci of the closed current loop with $k_i$ and $R_L$ as variables. A fuzzy PI controller based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is applied to regulate the controller parameters self-adaptively according to the change of $R_L$ and the operating point of the PV simulator to match the controller parameters with $R_L$. The stationary and dynamic performances of the PV simulator are tested by experiments, and the experimental results show that the PV simulator has the merits of a wide effective working range, high steady-state accuracy and good dynamic performances.
The Ground anchor is reinforcement to resist pull-out through ground that is used supports structure. The pull-out resistance of anchor is constructed by skin friction resistance from compression borehole wall in expanded wings and bearing pressure from the ground. Especially, underreamed ground anchor is reinforcement that adopts active reinforcement to prevent deformation of ground using bearing resistance generated reaming anchorage. This study is conducted to calculate bearing resistance of underreamed ground anchor. Realistic model tests were fulfilled to determine bearing resistance of anchor, and correlate results of tests to Uniaxial Compressive Strengths (UCS) of ground models that assumed weathered rock condition in 8 case. In a comprehensive series of the tests, the bearing resistances were measured by pull-out tests. The bearing resistances derived from tests have a linear correlation with UCS. We also suggest empirical equation between bearing resistance and UCS of rocks by single linear regression analyses. In test results of this study, the bearing resistances were evaluated approximately 13 times higher than UCS of the grounds, and it is qualitatively similar to numerical values of pull-out force derived from theory.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to observe stress concentration in the implant, the surrounding bone, and other components under the pull-out force during the crown removal. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two 3-dimensional models of implant-supported conventional metal ceramic crowns were digitally constructed. One model was designed as a vertically placed implant ($3.7mm{\times}10mm$) with a straight abutment, and the other model was designed as a 30-degree inclined implant ($3.7mm{\times}10mm$) with an angled abutment. A pull-out force of 40 N was applied to the crown. The stress values were calculated within the dental implant, the abutment, the abutment screw, and the surrounding bone. RESULTS. The highest stress concentration was observed at the coronal portion of the straight implant (9.29 MPa). The stress concentrations at the cortical bone were lower than at the implants, and maximum stress concentration in bone structure was 1.73 MPa. At the abutment screws, the stress concentration levels were similiar (3.09 MPa and 3.44 MPa), but the localizations were different. The stress at the angled abutment was higher than the stress at the straight abutment. CONCLUSION. The pull-out force, applied during a crown removal, did not show an evident effect in bone structure. The higher stress concentrations were mostly observed at the implant and the abutment collar. In addition, the abutment screw, which is the weakest part of an implant system, also showed stress concentrations. Implant angulation affected the stress concentration levels and localizations. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS. These results will help clinicians understand the mechanical behavior of cement-retained implant-supported crowns during crown retrieval.
