Multiprecision multiplication is the most expensive operation in public key-based cryptography. Therefore, many multiplication methods have been studied intensively for several decades. In Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems 2011 (CHES2011), a novel multiplication method called 'operand caching' was proposed. This method reduces the number of required load instructions by caching the operands. However, it does not provide full operand caching when changing the row of partial products. To overcome this problem, a novel method, that is, 'consecutive operand caching' was proposed in Workshop on Information Security Applications 2012 (WISA2012). It divides a multiplication structure into partial products and reconstructs them to share common operands between previous and next partial products. However, there is still room for improvement; therefore, we propose a finely designed operand-caching mode to minimize useless memory accesses when the first row is changed. Finally, we reduce the number of memory access instructions and boost the speed of the overall multiprecision multiplication for public key cryptography.

In this paper, we present an IND-CCA2 secure certificateless proxy re-encryption scheme in the random oracle model. A certificateless public key cryptography simplifies the certificate management in a traditional public key infrastructure and the built-in key escrow feature in an identity-based public key cryptography. Our scheme shares the merits of certificateless public key encryption cryptosystems and proxy re-encryption cryptosystems. Our certificateless proxy re-encryption scheme has several practical and useful properties - namely, multi-use, unidirectionality, non-interactivity, non-transitivity and so on. The security of our scheme bases on the standard bilinear Diffie-Hellman and the decisional Bilinear Diffie-Hellman assumptions.

Described in this paper is a design of hardware accelerator for implementing public-key cryptographic protocols (PKCPs) based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and RSA. It supports five elliptic curves (ECs) over GF(p) and three key lengths of RSA that are defined by NIST standard. It was designed to support four point operations over ECs and six modular arithmetic operations, making it suitable for hardware implementation of ECC- and RSA-based PKCPs. In order to achieve small-area implementation, a finite field arithmetic circuit was designed with 32-bit data-path, and it adopted word-based Montgomery multiplication algorithm, the Jacobian coordinate system for EC point operations, and the Fermat's little theorem for modular multiplicative inverse. The hardware operation was verified with FPGA device by implementing EC-DH key exchange protocol and RSA operations. It occupied 20,800 gate equivalents and 28 kbits of RAM at 50 MHz clock frequency with 180-nm CMOS cell library, and 1,503 slices and 2 BRAMs in Virtex-5 FPGA device.

We follow the promising recent results of deploying the public key cryptography in sensor networks. Recent results have shown that the public key algorithms are computationally feasible on the typical sensor nodes. However, once the public key cryptography is brought to the sensor network, security services such like key authentication will be critically required. In this paper we investigate the public key authentication problem in the sensor network and provide several authentication protocols. Our protocols are mainly based on the non-solvable overhearing in the wireless environment and a distributed voting mechanism. To show the value of our protocols, we provide an extensive analysis of the used resources and the resulting security level. As well, we compare our work with other existing works. For further benefit of our protocols, we list several additional applications in the sensor network where our protocols provide a sufficient authentication under the constrained resources.

Sensor network is one of the strongest technologies for various applications including home automation, surveillance system and monitoring system. To ensure secure and robust network communication between sensor nodes, plain-text should be encrypted using encryption methods. However due to their limited computation power and storage, it is difficult to implement public key cryptography, including elliptic curve cryptography, RSA and pairing cryptography, on sensor networks. However, recent works have shown the possibility that public key cryptography could be made available in a sensor network environment by introducing the efficient multi-precision multiplication method. The previous method suggested a broad rule of multiplication to enhance performance. However, various features of sensor motes have not been considered. For optimized implementation, unique features should be handled. In this paper, we propose a fully optimized multiplication method depending on a different specification for sensor motes. The method improves performance by using more efficient instructions and general purpose registers.
Certificateless public key cryptography (CL-PKC) is a new benchmark in modern cryptography. It not only simplifies the certificate management problem of PKC, but also avoids the key escrow problem of the identity based cryptosystem (ID-PKC). In this article, we propose a certificateless blind signature protocol which is based on elliptic curve cryptography (CLB-ECC). The scheme is suitable for the wireless communication environment because of smaller parameter size. The proposed scheme is proven to be secure against attacks by two different kinds of adversaries. CLB-ECC is efficient in terms of computation compared to the other existing conventional schemes. CLB-ECC can withstand forgery attack, key only attack, and known message attack. An e-cash framework, which is based on CLB-ECC, has also been proposed. As a result, the proposed CLB-ECC scheme seems to be more effective for applying to real life applications like e-shopping, e-voting, etc., in handheld devices.

With the development of multiuser online meetings, more group-oriented technologies and applications for instance collaborative work are becoming increasingly important. Authenticated Group Key Agreement (AGKA) schemes provide a shared group key for users with after their identities are confirmed to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of group communications. On the basis of the Public Key Cryptography (PKC) system used, AGKA can be classified as Public Key Infrastructure-based, Identity-based, and Certificateless. Because the latter type can solve the certificate management overhead and the key escrow problems of the first two types, Certificateless-AGKA (CL-AGKA) protocols have become a popular area of research. However, most CL-AGKA protocols are vulnerable to Public Key Replacement Attacks (PKRA) due to the lack of public key authentication. In the present work, we present a CL-AGKA scheme that can resist PKRA in order to solve impersonation attacks caused by those attacks. Beyond security, improving scheme efficiency is another direction for AGKA research. To reduce the communication and computation cost, we present a scheme with only one round of information interaction and construct a CL-AGKA scheme replacing the bilinear pairing with elliptic curve cryptography. Therefore, our scheme has good applicability to communication environments with limited bandwidth and computing capabilities.
A public-key cryptography processor EC-RSA was designed, which integrates a 224-bit prime field elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) defined in the FIPS 186-2 as well as RSA with 2048-bit key length into a single hardware structure. A finite field arithmetic core used in both scalar multiplication for ECC and exponentiation for RSA was designed with 32-bit data-path. A lightweight implementation was achieved by an efficient hardware sharing of the finite field arithmetic core and internal memory for ECC and RSA operations. The EC-RSA processor was verified by FPGA implementation. It occupied 11,779 gate equivalents (GEs) and 14 kbit RAM synthesized with a 180-nm CMOS cell library and the estimated maximum clock frequency was 133 MHz. It takes 867,746 clock cycles for ECC scalar multiplication resulting in the estimated throughput of 34.3 kbps, and takes 26,149,013 clock cycles for RSA decryption resulting in the estimated throughput of 10.4 kbps.
Authenticated multiple key agreement (AMKA) protocols provide participants with multiple session keys after one round of authentication. Many schemes use Diffie-Hellman or authenticated key agreement schemes that rely on hard integer factorizations that are vulnerable to quantum algorithms. Lattice cryptography provides quantum resistance to authenticated key agreement protocols, but the certificate always incurs excessive public key infrastructure management overhead. Thus, a lightweight lattice-based secure system is needed that removes this overhead. To answer this need, we provide a two-party lattice- and identity-based AMKA scheme based on bilateral short integer or computational bilateral inhomogeneous small integer solutions, and we provide a security proof based on the random oracle model. Compared with existing AMKA protocols, our new protocol has higher efficiency and stronger security.
Most mobile cloud computing system use public key cryptography to provide data security and mutual authentication. A variant of traditional public key technologies called Identity-Based Cryptography(IBC) has recently received considerable attention. The certificate-free approach of IBC may well match the dynamic qualities of cloud environment. But, there is a need for a lightweight secure framework that provides security with minimum processing overhead on mobile devices. In this paper, we propose to use hierarchical ID-Based Encryption in mobile cloud computing. It is suitable for a mobile network since it can reduce the workload of root Public Key Generators by delegating the privilege of user authentication and private key generation. The Identity-Based Encryption and Identity-Based Signature are also proposed and an ID-Based Authentication scheme is presented to secure data processing. The proposed scheme is designed by one-way hash functions and XOR operations, thus has low computation costs for mobile users.
