Purpose: Rehabilitation nursing requires an interdisciplinary comprehensive team approach that allows for enough time to promote patients' functional recovery. We identified the effects of a nurse-led rehabilitation intervention program on subacute stroke patients' activities of daily living, anger, and muscle strength, as well as their chief caregivers' satisfaction. Methods: Intervention group participants (n = 20) completed a rehabilitation intervention program, which integrated physical activities with psychological and social approaches. Results: The program did not significantly improve patients' activities of daily living or anger management; however, it significantly affected both anger-in (t = 3.384, p = .002) and anger-out (t = 2.167, p = .037) attitudes. Caregivers' satisfaction among the intervention group (t = 6.935, p < .001) decreased more significantly than that of the comparison group (t = 0.224, p = .825). Conclusion: Rehabilitation intervention program should enlist nurses' participation and promote a team-based approach during the rehabilitation program. Further, patients and their caregivers should be encouraged to express their emotions during counseling.
Purpose: This study is to identify the health promoting behaviors, health belief, and self-efficacy of visiting nurses working for the Health Visiting Project in Seoul and to determine the predictors of influencing health promoting behaviors. Methods: Data were collected from an online survey of 496 visiting nurses form 25 districts in Seoul. Using SPSS ver. 24, the study performed descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlations, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean scores for health promoting behaviors and self-efficacy were slightly higher than that of the median, whereas health belief showed in the median. The factors influencing health promoting behavior were perceived barriers, perceived sensitivity, self-efficacy, and age. These variables explained 36.0% of health promoting behaviors(F=60.62, p<.05). Conclusion: To prevent illness and to promote the health of the population, the visiting nurse mainly performs health screening, health education and counseling. To fulfill these responsibilities, the visiting nurse should be healthy and perform health promoting behaviors well, effectively serving as a model for their clients. Most of the visiting nurses were middle-aged, thus, it is necessary to strengthen health promotion activities that manage physical and psychological health at the individual level.
In this thesis, Chapter I Introduction suggested the necessity of this research and defined related terms, and Chapter II defined hospice for children and examined the symptoms of pediatric cancers as well as the general characteristics of pediatric cancer patients. In particular, we surveyed the physical condition, psychological and emotional condition, financial condition, environmental aspect, educational aspect and spiritual aspect of pediatric cancer patients’ families, investigated pediatric cancer patients’ parents and siblings with regard to their understanding of the pediatric cancer patients’ death, and lastly considered spiritual care. Chapter III presented summaries and conclusions. In their developmental stage, pediatric cancer patients lack abilities to express themselves and are highly dependent on their parents, so parents who take care of cancer children have to make hard decisions and cancer children’s families are heavily burdened by the situation of preparing their children’s death and sending them away while denying their death, and for this reason they need help from specialists. That is, for pediatric cancer patients, we need highly experienced pediatricians or nurses skilful in managing young terminal patients as well as hospice counseling and family counselors for consulting on family crises. In particular, there is a keen need of child life support specialists. In addition, clergymen’s help is critical for spiritual care to ease the fear and terror of the unknown world, fear of death, etc. Moreover, in order to prevent cancer children from failing to adjust themselves to school life or peer relation after recovery, hospice service should provide cancer children with opportunities to learn school curriculums and associate with friends.
This study aimed to identify specific psychological and brain activation responses relating to the processing of negative emotions in patients with alcohol dependency. The authors hypothesized that patients with alcohol dependency would demonstrate the abnormal functioning of brain regions involved in negative emotions. Eleven male patients diagnosed with alcohol dependence in an inpatient alcohol treatment facility and 13 social drinkers with similar demographics were scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as they viewed film clips that evoked negative emotions. During exposure to negative emotional stimuli, the control group evinced significantly greater activity in the right anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) in comparison to patients with alcohol dependency. Correlation analyses demonstrated a negative association in the relationship between beta values from the right ACC and amygdala in participants classified in the control group. No statistically significant relationship was observed for blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) changes between the two regions in the patient group during the elicitation of negative emotions. On the other hand, patients exhibited a greater activation of the amygdala as negative emotions were induced. These results suggest that alcoholism presents pathophysiology of brain activation that is distinct from the responses of healthy individuals functioning as controls.

Microfinance is seen as a tool for poverty elimination by providing various services characterized as financial and non-financial to minority groups in the society to be included in the mainstream financial system. This paper seeks to examine the effect of microfinance institutions' (MFIs) financial and non-financial services on women's entrepreneurship and empowerment in Jordan as a developing country. To gain a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of microfinance services, the study is undertaken to address the question of what kinds of services are available and whether the MFI services are in line with the actual needs of women entrepreneurs to improve their performance. Hence, a qualitative approach was adopted in this study using semi-structured interview questions to collect data from twenty-four women entrepreneurs in Jordan. The results showed that, as regards financial services, the most important needs of women entrepreneurs include providing adequate financing with necessary financial facilities such as reducing interest, reducing monthly installments, and extending the grace period, while non-financial services should include holding specialized courses, accessing a counseling center, providing incentives and psychological support, marketing support, and monitoring and evaluation. This study concluded that factors associated with MFI play a crucial role to uplift women entrepreneurs and eliminate gender inequality.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between death anxiety, terminal care stress, and job satisfaction of new nurses, as well as to identify factors affecting job satisfaction using descriptive correlations. Methods: This study included 143 new nurses who had 3 to 12 months of experience in terminal care. Data were collected from January to February 2018, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe? test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: There was a negative correlation between job satisfaction and terminal care stress (r=-.170, p=.043), while death anxiety and terminal care stress were positively correlated (r=.284, p=.001). The following findings demonstrated a significant effect on job satisfaction: lesser the clinical career experience, the lower the job load causing death anxiety and terminal care stress, and the higher the job satisfaction. Furthermore, the explanatory power of these factors was 15.1%. Conclusion: To assist new nurses within three months of joining in clinical adaptation, it is necessary to provide them with appropriate knowledge regarding terminal care through training, and with counseling opportunities for the psychological burdens they experience while caring for dying patients.

Methods: Ten participants were recruited through a website used by the visually impaired from February to March 2020. Data were collected through two focus group interviews conducted in June 2020; each group consisted of five participants. All interviews were recorded with the consent of the participants and transcribed verbatim. The transcribed data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Seven categories were as follows; a two-faced, lifelong companion, an unprepared encounter, struggle to live, love-hate relationship with family, strategies to adapt, lessening attention to self-management, the desire to learn properly. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the visually impaired have fewer opportunities for receiving diabetes self-management education than general diabetic patients. Consequently, plans to improve the education available to such patients are required. Additionally, psychological counseling and diabetes education for patients' families are necessary, and improving the perception of medical workers regarding the visually impaired will be prove useful.

This study attempted to identify the experiences of nursing students' participation in cadaver practice and provide a basis for understanding students' experiences in cadaver practice, which can be reflected in the development of programs for them. By applying the content analysis method according to the guidelines by Krippendorff to analyze the meaning of the experience of participating in cadaver practice among 80 nursing students who participated in cadaver practice at K University in W-si, Gangwon-do, a total of 4 areas, 13 categories, and 25 meaningful statements were derived. The categories included "worried," "surprised," and "fear" in the anxiety domain; "interesting," "knowing," and "focused" in the immersion domain; "value of life," "gratitude and remembrance," "thinking about donation," "facing death," and "precious body" in the reflection domain; and "motivation" and "sense of accomplishment" in the growth domain. The results of this study will help to understand the physical and psychological reactions that nursing students may experience during cadaver practice, and will provide a basis for developing various strategies such as counseling, education, and reflection programs in conjunction with cadaver practice to help nursing students cope with stress, develop a sense of ethical responsibility, and develop a positive self-image as nursing students in order to be successful in cadaver practice. This study is also significant because it provides a basis for preventive program interventions for experiences related to the negative effects of cadaver practice.
