The purpose of this thesis is to suggest objective basic data for the environmental design through the quantitative analysis of the visual quality included in the physical environment of Basemsagol valley sequence landscape. For this, visual volumes of physical elements have been evaluated by using the mesh analysis, spatial images structure of physical elements have been analyzed by factor analysis algorithm, and degree of visual quality have been measured mainly by questionnaires. Also, this study aims to understand semiotics and to grope the possibility of application to the sequence landscape assessment. A semiological approach suggests a new dimension in sequence landscape assessment, which is a contrast to the existing scientific evaluation methods. Result of this thesis can be summarized as follows. Visual volumes of the immediate vegetation, rock, bridge, road and distant vegetation are found to be the main factor determining the visual quality. Factors covering the spatial image of natural park sequence landscape have been found to be the overall synthetic evaluation, potentiality, natural quality, spatial, appeal and dignity. By using the control method for the number of factors, T.V. has been obtained as 40.22%. The characteristics of the semiological approach is qualitative, open, holistic, and experiential, whereas that of the scientific approach is quantitative, closed, reductive, and experimental.
Background: This pilot study looked into the physical, social, psychological and economic issues of Indian adult cancer survivors. Materials and Methods: Assumed cancer free patients, after cancer directed therapy (CDT), were assessed on the basis of a questionnaire developed by the investigators. The mental status of the survivors was elicited by modified MINI international neuro-psychiatric interview. This cross sectional assessment was conducted as a direct interaction with each patient for 30 to 45 minutes at a cancer hospital in 2012. Results: Thirty one adult cancer survivors participated in this study. Median age was 53 years with a median follow up duration of 21.8 months (Range 2.3-194.1 months). The majority (68%) did not receive financial support for treatment. Median interval after CDT to start of activity of daily living was 1.5 months (range: 0-24 months). Fatigue and loss of appetite were reported by 52% and 29% respectively. The cancer diagnosis and its treatment adversely impacted the financial condition in 42% of patients. Nineteen percent each showed social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder and another 13% patients reported depression. Conclusions: This prospective assessment highlights survivorship issues and the need to address those issues particularly in the context of developing countries where resources and manpower are limited.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to apply intervention mapping (IM) to develop a community-based disease self-management support program for patients with osteoarthritis. Methods: IM was applied as follows: i) a needs assessment has been carried out by a literature review, survey and interview with osteoarthritis patients; ii) on the basis of the needs assessment, identification of expected outcomes and change objectives for the target population; iii) selection of theory-based methods and practical applications to influence self-management and the determinants of behavior; iv) design of the intervention by developing activities and materials such as osteoarthritis self-management guide and smart patient pocket book. The activities were integrated into an existing healthcare activities; v) implementation and evaluation plan has been developed. Results: The program is aimed at improving health status through activating patients by a patient-centered and tailored intervention for patients with osteoarthritis; consists of 8 sessions with coaching and cognitive emotional psychological skills; includes smart patient, communication, osteoarthritis, medication adherence, pain control, depressive mood control, physical activity and healthy diet. Conclusion: The IM is a systematic and feasible method for developing the program. The next step is to evaluate the impact of the intervention on activation, and health status.
The purpose of this study was to develop a checklist of risk factors for quantitative assessment of musculoskeletal complaints in shipbuilding workers. A key point was to develop comprehensive a checklist including the worker's physical ability, as ergonomic and workload factors. ln the first, through correlation analysis between musculoskeletal complaints and physical abilities in shipbuilding workers, risk factors related to physical abilities were selected. In the second, after the development of a checklist was composed of physical, ergonomic and workload factors, factor analysis was used to test the validity of the developed checklist. Each factors selected finally showed that physical factors were hand grip strength, spinal curvature, and flexibility (sit to reach), ergonomic factors were posture, total exposed time, duration, and force of working, and workload factors were physical and psychological workload perceived by worker. The results showed that musculoskeletal complaints was associated with physical abilities (p<.05). The developed checklist had a reliability of .761 (Cronbach=.761) and a validity and explanation of 54.9%. The criterion of management was classified in 4 stages by relative weights of each factor. It is suggested that active intervention is needed to reduce musculoskeletal complaints in workers with more than a 14.31 score.
The aim of this study was to review previous literature to determine the effects of nature-based program for workers. This systematic review was conducted in accordance with National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency's guidance for undertaking systematic reviews for intervention. Literature search was performed using National Assembly Digital Library, Korean Studies Information Service System, and Korea Education & Research Information Service for literature published until March 2019. The participants were full-time workers, and intervention of nature-based programs was conducted in the outdoor, indoor, and indirect nature contact exposures, with comparators in the control group who did not receive the treatment. The results showed that the programs were effective in physical, psychological, and social health. The methodological quality of randomized controlled trials (RCT) was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias(RoB) tool, while non-randomized controlled trials (N-RCT) were assessed using the Cochrane Risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized studuies (RoBANS). A total of 16 studies were selected for assessment: two RCTs, 10 N-RCTs, and four one-group pretest-posttest designs. Most interventions were provided at the workplace and in the community. There were many kinds of nature-based interventions, and forest therapy and horticultural therapy programs were most common. Various interventions for workers effectively improved job stress, depression, serum cortisol and stress-response. However, the included studies lacked methodological rigor. Future research is needed to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of nature-based programs for workers using rigorous research designs.
This literature review introduced the concept of psychopathy which has never been defined academically in Korea. Also it is reviewed how this concept could be applied as latent factor of criminal behavior in the forensic settings. For this purpose, first of all, the periodical change of psychopathy definition was explored. Then it was investigated which determinants might develop psychopathy and what would be the behavioral characteristics of psychopaths. Finally, risk assessment tools measuring psychopathy were introduced and their predictive efficacy and applicability in Korean criminal justice system was discussed.
This study examines a systematic and effective approach to career guidance in medical education, with a particular focus on the 6-year integrated career guidance education framework implemented at the College of Medicine, The Catholic University of Korea. Based on the "New SLICE" educational development principles, this framework comprehensively addresses the needs of medical students in career planning and development. It is structured into three phases: understanding yourself, exploring options, and choosing a specialty. The first phase, understanding yourself, helps students to recognize their strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes, and potentials, thereby setting the direction for future career choices. This phase includes various psychological tests and Self-Development and Portfolio courses. The second phase, exploring options, enables students to engage in related activities such as research and practical training, providing direct and indirect experiences across various fields. This phase offers courses including Medical Field Experience, Career Guidance through the Learning Community & Advisory Professors, and Student Participation in Professor Research Projects. The final phase, choosing a specialty, involves students making decisions based on in-depth self-assessment and exploration of majors, with a capstone project being a significant component. Maximizing the efficiency of career decision-making requires integration between the basic medical curriculum and postgraduate education. Including the period up to residency entrance in the framework is necessary for effective career guidance education.
This research has its purpose of developing a tool to assess the needs of the Korean elderly at home population and to provide adequate services by evaluating their physical, psychological, and socio-environmental aspects. This developed tool is composed of two hundred questions and has the advantage of combined physical, psychological and social environmental situation assessment of the elderly at home. The tool also contains not only the objective view of the professionals, but also the subjective appeals of the elderly at home population so that it can reflect their substantial desires. The assessment tool was developed over 21 months from July, 2004 to March, 2006 and this period can be divided into three different stages. In the first stage, collecting of questions for the desire-focused assessment of the elderly by literature investigation and researching foreign source materials was carried out, and this ultimately developed assessment tool was applied to the long-term care insurance pilot project in the second stage. In this process, we revised some insufficiencies of this tool after we applied to elderly of 250 from the pilot project and other 200 elderly from this research team. For the last stage, the tool was completed by using inquiries of the focused group and the group of professionals to ensure its reliability and validity. In the process of developing the tool, the total of 200 questions under 13 subcategories was selected. The 13 subcategories are basic information, subjective appeals, information of the main helper, use of services, house environment, condition of health, condition of rehabilitation, daily living(ADL, IADL, defecation, assistance), social maintenance, behavioral disability, medical health, living habits, and strength. This tool is on the purpose to assess thoroughly the desires that the elderly at home population has and to provide the best service they need.
Alopecia is usually presented as patchy, no scarring hair loss. It seems to be a hormonal imbalance or an immune mediated disease, whereas genetic predisposition, environmental and psychological factors may be involved in its etiology. Many treatments of alopecia disease have been widely applied, but their side effects are also well known. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate efficacy and safety of a food supplement containing medicinal plant extracts, amino acid and vitamin complex on the prevention of hair loss in human. A total of 20 subjects aged between 29-50 years with subjective hair loss complaint were recruited for this study. Each subject took 1 g/day supplement for 3 months. 5-Scale self-assessment test, hair loss count and measurement of hair thickness were conducted to evaluate the effect of supplement on the improvement of hair loss. Subjective hair loss was decreased and hair damage and thickness were improved in self-assessment test. After 3 months of supplementation, hair loss counts were decreased (P<0.05) while hair thickness was increased(P<0.001) significantly. There was no side effect observed during the study. These results suggest that the supplement consist of medicinal plant extracts, amino acid and vitamin complex might be useful for the improvement of hair loss with no significant side effects.
