Feeding habits of Pseudoblennius cottoides collected from the eelgrass bed in Kwangyang Bay from January 1994 to December 1994 were studied. Pseudoblennius cottoides was a carnivore which mainly consumed fishes, caridean shrimps, and amphipods. Its diets included small Quantities of tanaids, copepods, isopods, mysids, and polychaetes. It showed ontogenetic changes in feeding habits. Fishes were heavily selected as the body size of P. cottoides increases. Fishes and caridean shrimps were major prey organisms for all seasons.

The ecological characteristics of Pseudoblennius cottoides were investigated off Dolsan Island, Yeosu, Korea, from June to December, 2001. Their habitats were the reef zone and surrounding embankment which was covered with seaweeds. Their range of total length (TL) was 6.10-8.40 cm (n=15), and the individuals (over 8.10 cm) of them accounted for in June. It was 8.60-15.7 cm (n=67), and the individuals 11.1-12.0 cm in TL accounted for in October, 2001. The female to male sex ratio was 1:0.48 (n=185). The gonads were in the shape of a rod and the ovaries were large in size. In June, the histology of the seminiferous tubules was observed. In August, the testicles appeared. In October, spermatocyte was observed in the testes, and ovaries were observed in relation to circumference popularity and oocyte.
Morphological development of eggs, larvae and juvenile of the sunrise sculpin, Pseudoblennius cottoides were studed in the field and laboratory at the coastal Dolsan-do, Yeosu-shi from October, 2000 to April, 2001 Egg mass of Pseudoblennius cottoides in peribranchial cavity of Halocynthia hilgendorfi, were observed during late fall to winter in the study area. Fertiliged eggs were spherical in shape, demersal, adhesive, transparent and greenwish yellow color, measuring 1.84 mm (1.83-1.87 mm) in diameter. There were numerous and 17 (15-20) various-sized oil globules accounted in the yolk. Granular materials formed a mass in the yolk. Fertiliged eggs hatched at 301 hr 20 min after morula stage. Newly hatched larvae 6.31 mm (6.24-6.37 mm) in total length (TL), had a large yolk. At 3 days after hatching, the larvae, 6.77 mm (6.69-7.14 mm) in TL came out through the excurrent siphon of Halocynthia hilgendorfi. At 13 days after hatching, the larvae 12.59 mm (12.42-12.63 mm) in TL transformed to postlarval stage. At 32 days after hatching, postlarvae of TL 19.18 mm (19.01-19.46 mm) have reached the juvenile stage.

The growth and production of Pseudoblennius cottoides (1.80~10.01 cm TL) were investigated in an eelgrass bed of Dongdae Bay, Korea throughout 2006. A total 702 P. cottoides were collected with a small beam trawl. Growth in fish total length was expressed as: $TL=0.0539d^{0.9105}$. The relationships between total length body weight was estimated as $W=0.0079TL^3.1103$. The densities, biomass, daily, annual production, and P/B ratio were $0.06{\pm}0.062/m^2$, $0.10{\pm}0.144g/m^2$, $0.0005{\pm}0.0006g\;AFDW/m^2/day$, $0.1833g\;AFDW/m^2/year$, and 1.813, respectively. Monthly production of P. cottoides were greatly peak in May, July and September (0.0029, 0.0031 and $0.0019g\;AFDW/m^2/day$) when the biomass was high, and the lowest value in December (0.00004g AFDW/m^2/day) when the biomass was low. Monthly change in production of P. cottoides was positively correlated with biomass and temperature.
The seasonal variations in species composition and abundance of the fish assemblage were studied in the rocky subtidal habitat around the Jam-do, Jinhae. Fish samples were collected monthly from September 2007 to July 2008 using a pot. During study, a total of 48 fish species belonging to 24 families were collected. The dominant species were Sebastes longispinis, Pseudoblennius cottoides, Sebastes inermis, Rudarius ercodes, Ditrema temminckii, Ernogrammus hexagrammus, which accounted for 71.0% of the total number of individuals collected. The number of species, number of individuals, biomass and diversity greatly fluctuated showing a peak in the number of species, number of individuals and species diversity in autumn, whereas the biomass was the highest in spring. Abundance of dominant species varied with season. S. longispinis was abundant during spring and summer, while the abundance of P. cottoides was higher during autumn and spring. S. inermis occurred with high number in September, December and May, whereas R. ercodes occurred exclusively during autumn.
Length-weight relationships were estimated for 19 fish species in sargassum beds of Gamak Bay: Aulichthys japonicus, Pseudoblennius cottoides, Pseudoblennius percoides, Ditrema temmincki, Acanthogobius lactipes, Chaenogobius heptacanthus, Cryptocentrus filifer, Pterogobius elapoides, Pterogobius zonoleucus, Hyporhamphus sajori, Hexagrammos agrammus, Rudarius ercodes, Lateolabrax japonicus, Pholis crassispina, Pholis nebulosa, Scomber japonicus, Sebastes inermis, Ernogrammus hexagrammus, and Takifugu niphobles. Samples were caught by surrounding net at depths of <7 m between November 2007 and June 2008. The most abundant families were Gobiidae (26.3%), Cottidae (10.5%), and Pholididae (10.5%). Estimates for parameter b of the length-weight relationship (W=$aL^b$) ranged between 2.491 and 3.354.

Fish species composition in eelgrass bed of Punghwa-ri in Tongyeong, Korea was determined using monthly samples collected by a surf net from November 2010 to October 2011. During the study period, a total of 30 species, 5,511 individuals and 6,933.4 g of fishes were collected. The dominant fish species were Pholis nebulosa, Syngnathus schlegeli, Rudarius ercodes, Pseudoblennius cottoides, Sebastes inermis, and Aulichthys japonicus which accounted for 93.4% of total number of individuals collected. Most fishes collected in the eelgrass bed belong mainly to small fish species or juveniles of large fish species. Eelgrass shoot density reached a peak in April 2011, and then decreased to a minimum in January 2011. The seasonal variation of fish assemblage in an eelgrass bed of Punghwa-ri was correlated to the variations in the water temperature, eelgrass density and biomass, and abundances of major prey organisms.
Abundances of small fishes that utilized eelgrass meadows of Hansilpo, Chungmu, were analyzed to determine fish species composition and monthly changes of this temperate seagrass fish community during 1983-1986. A total of 4,646 fishes that comprised 35 species in 19 families was collected during the period of investigation. Pholis taczanowskii, Pseudoblennius cottoides, Tridentiger trigonocephalus, and Sryngnathus schlegeli predominated in ichthyofauna that occupied the eelgrass meadows most of the year. These four most abundant fish species accounted for approximately $64\%$ of the number of fish collected. Juveniles of economically valuable fish species such as Sebastes inermis, Platycephalus indicus and Limanda yokohamae were also collected in the study area. Seasonal changes in both species composition and abundances of fish populations were major characteristics in these eelgrass meadows. A peak abundance of total fishes occurred during spring, with a secondary peak during fall. The lowest abundance of total fishes occurred in winter. Each abundant fish species showed its own seasonal abundance pattern, and a peak abundance 1-3 months separated from other species with some overlap of the increased larval recruitment.
A total of 57 species of fish species was collected by a trawl from the eelgrass bed in Kwangyang Bay. The dominant species were Pholis nebulosa, Syngnathus schlegeli, Leiognathus nuchalis, Pseudoblennius cottoides, Sebastes inermis, Favonigobius gymnauchen, which accounted for 69.9% of the total numbers of fish collected. Fish collected in the study area were primarily small fish species or early juveniles of large fish species. Only about 10% of fishes which were collected in the eelgrass bed exceeded 15cm in standard length. Seasonal variations in both species composition and abundance were major characteristics in the study area. The peak abundance occurred in spring, while the number of species was the highest in fall. However, both the number of species and abundance of fishes showed the lowest values in winter. High species diversity indices were observed in fall. Temperature, eelgrass standing crop and abundance of food organisms influenced seasonal changes of the fish community in the study area. More abundant and more diverse fishes were collected during nighttime than daytime.
