  • This study was conducted to determine the optimum conditions for induction and different somatic of somatic embryos as well as germination of encapsulated and stored somatic embryos. Somatic embryos was better formed in 1/2X MS medium than full - strength MS medium. 0.1 to 1.0mg/lBA and kinetin promoted shoot differentiation of somatic embryos. Higher concentration tend to inhibit differentiation. IAA affect positively both root and shoot growth. In vitro germination of somatic embryos encapsulated with 2% alginate matrix containing 1/2 MS nutrient medium and AgNO3 5mg/l was 86%. Storage of somatic embryos was effecive at 5C but the germination rate decreased with longer storage period. RAPD analyses with plants regenerated from the somatic embryos showed DNA polymorphism, indicating abolition of primer binding site by point mutation, deletion, or insertion of certain sequences.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether the gap of fiscal self-sufficiency rates of 16 provincial governments in Korea has been narrowed and to suggest some remedies based on the empirical results. The panel data set from 1998 to 2013 is used and pooled OLS and system GMM regression techniques are employed. The fiscal self-sufficiency rates show downward trend and βconvergence exists in absolute and conditional convergence analysis. The speed of conditional convergence anlysis is proved to be faster than that of absolute analysis. Both metropolitan cities and prefectures show convergence of fiscal self-sufficiency rates. We have found out that in the case of metropolitan cities, the proportion of workers in the tertiary industry has positive effect on fiscal self-sufficiency rates and in the case of prefectures number of cars per capita has positive effect. And in both cases increase in old population has negative effect.

  • The surface water in the upstream and midstream of Nakdong river, which is being used as tap water and industrial water supply in Daegu city and Kyungpook province, was analyzed in its water quality. In addition, the sediments of which was analyzed in terms of heavy metal and organic substance contents. All the sampling was done in the drought season for 2 days of June 22-23 and carried out in 10 sampling sites. The sites cover the whole Kyungpook provincial region, starting from Yangsam Bridge in Chyeong Ryang Provincial Park as the upper end, to the Ko Ryung Bridge as the lower end sampling site of Nakdong river that flows through Kyungpook province. The 22 items including NH+4, NO2 and COD were analyzed for surface water and 11 items including organic constituents(trichloroethylene, etc) and heavy metals were analyzed for sediments. The sediments samples were analyzed by elution testing method and acid dissolution method and then the results were compared with each other. All heavy metals in samples were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy(ICP-AES) and other constituents were analyzed by standard testing methods of the Korean Ministry of Environment.

  • A problem of sliding mode control is chattering because of controle input signal included unknown disturbance and nonlinear input parameters. This paper presents a sliding mode controller design to inverted pendulum system. In this paper, a sliding mode control algorithm to reduce a chattering is proposed. The reduction of chattering is accomplished by smoothing function for nonlinear control input. In this method, the dynamic equations of the inverted pendulum is decoupled by considering nonlinear parameters and external disturbances. Therefore, this study is applied to obtain switching control inputs for sliding mode controller. The proposed technique is tested to the control of inverted pendulum through computer simulations. The result shown reduced chattering in control input.

  • A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of split-application of slow-release fertilizer on the tea plant. The yield of the 1st harvested tea leaves had increased 12% in the slow-release fertilizer(two time split manuring) compared with the traditional manuring(four time split manuring), but that of the slow-release fertilizer to one time split manuring had decreased 6±3. In case of the 1st harvested leave, the contents of chemical components related to quality such as total nitrogen, total amino acid, chlorophyll, vitamin C and theanine were somewhat higher in the leaves of slow-release fertilizer(two time split manuring) treatment than in the traditional manuring, but that of tannin was low. The one time split manuring of slow-release fertilizer had a contrary tendency with two time split manuring treatment. In scoring test, appearance and quality of green tea were more excellent in the two time split manuring compared with one time split manuring of slow-release fertilizer and with the traditional manuring (four time split manuring). Therefore, use of slow-release fertilizer increased yield and quality of tea leaves, and decreased loss of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium.

  • Recently, Elevator industry is pursuing new challenges to the model of the IT convergence. The core of the convergence technologies may be the effective control and maintenance of the machine. However, because current elevator management model provides each specific model for his elevator, the management models have a variety of heterogeneous configuration so that it makes management companies to manage the elevators with many overhead. In this paper, we propose the integration framework for the various elevator models. We use proposed system based on the Android framework that is rapidly expanding technology in the embedded environment, and we propose design approach for the integration of variety of lift devices so that it provide a more efficient and stable service environment. In this way, we could integrate various device models of an elevator for the management and maintenance effectively and quickly.

  • To provide useful information on the improving cultural practices of mungbean, investigations were made on Ca/Mg and (equation omitted) ratio in soil and plant grown under three fertilizer levels of N, P, K with different upland soils, using variety, Kyonggijaerae 5. Highly significant possitive correlations were observed between the soil extracted molar Ca/Mg ratio, (equation omitted) ratio at flowering time and yield, number of pods per plant, respectively. Soil-extracted Ca/Mg ratio at flowering time ranged from 1.9 to 6.4 and (equation omitted) ratio ranged from 0.17 to 0.33. Yield decreased rapidly as extracted soil Ca/Mg ratio became smaller than the ratio of 3.9, and yield was the highest the (equation omitted) ratio adjusted to 0.23 at flowering time. At harvesting time, Ca/Mg ratio in plant ranged from 1.4 to 4.3 and the yield decreased rapidly as Ca/Mg ratio in plant became smaller than 2.6. Yields, however, were not related to the soil-extracted Ca/Mg ratio interval from 3.9 to at least 6.4 in flowering time and Ca/Mg ratio in plant ranged from 2.6 to 4.3 at harvesting time.

  • The objective was to obtain the basic information for the changes of the alpha-acid content according to days after flowering. altitude and weather of Hoeongseong, Korea. The alpha-acid of hops reached the highest con-tent in sixty one days after flowering, and the optimum time for cone picking was noted as 11-15th August. The altitude for the highest alpha-acid content was 190-260m of Hoeongseong. The year-to-year variations in the alpha-acid content of hops were higher than the altitude variations. The higher alpha-acid content was associated with a higher temperature and more amounts of sunshine in late July. Alpha-acid content and yield had a significant positive correlation.
