This study is related to the acquisition of physiological signals of human emotions and the recognition of human emotions using such physiological signals. To acquire physiological signals, seven emotions are evoked through stimuli. Regarding the induced emotions, the results of skin temperature, photoplethysmography, electrodermal activity, and an electrocardiogram are recorded and analyzed as physiological signals. The suitability and effectiveness of the stimuli are evaluated by the subjects themselves. To address the problem of the emotions not being recognized, we introduce a methodology for a recognizer using prototype-based learning and particle swarm optimization (PSO). The design involves two main phases: i) PSO selects the P% of the patterns to be treated as prototypes of the seven emotions; ii) PSO is instrumental in the formation of the core set of features. The experiments show that a suitable selection of prototypes and a substantial reduction of the feature space can be accomplished, and the recognizer formed in this manner is characterized by high recognition accuracy for the seven emotions using physiological signals.
A personal low-frequency stimulator is a portable device to relax muscle pains of a person. The stimulator generates combined low-frequency pulses to be applied to pads attached to painful muscles. This paper reports a development of such device with its characteristic analyses. The major components of our stimulator are MCU, high-voltage generating circuit part, high-voltage switching circuit part, input switch part and display unit. High-voltage generating circuit is designed by using a boost converter circuit and allows user control of the output voltage. High-voltage switching circuit, controlled by MCU, generates output voltage to be applied to pads. Input switch part is composed of power supply, intensity selection, mode selection and memory. Display unit adopts a text LCD module to display modes, Intensity, output frequency and user set-up time. Our designed safety circuit, to protect human body from possible electric shock, slowly increases the output voltage to the selected output intensity. It continuously checks the output pulse shape and disable the output when dangerous pulses are detected. This paper also shows some experimental results.
RIM(Reaction Injection Molding) is a widely used method to manufacture middle-large size outfit-part for a prototype car. The main advantage of RIM is the capability of manufacturing a small number of prototype parts with less cost and lead time than injection molding which is the most popular method to manufacture plastic parts. Generally, epoxy resin and RTV(Room Temperature Vulcanization) silicon are used as mold materials for RIM, and the selection of mold materials is usually depended upon the industrial environment of manufactures and it decides overall mold making process and part quality. This paper suggests a new mold making process by consolidating the advantages of epoxy resin and RTV silicon based RIM mold to enhance the parts quality while reducing the manufacturing cost and time and shows the competitiveness of the suggested process compared with conventional methods.

The main objective of this prototype is to control resonance frequency of DTL system through the temperature control of cooling water. It is to resonant frequency of the drift tube cavities to 350 MHz. This paper describes the design of a prototype cooling water skid required for the temperature control of the DTL cavities, focusing in the modeling and simulation of the cooling system, the sizing of water pumping skid component.
The main objectives of this study are to compare the obtained mechanical characteristics of reduced-scale model materials with those of the prototype and to provide the information on the best selection of materials. Manufacturing techniques on the micro-concrete and reduced reinforcement are introduced. The test results of these materials are shown to be satisfactory with regard to the similitude requirement. The simple beam tests were performed to verify similitude in the bond behavior between micro-concrete and reduced reinforcement. Those results also prove that these manufacturing and experimental techniques are useful and reliable for reduced-scale model tests.
This work presents a low-power CMOS image sensor (CIS) with a multi-column-parallel (MCP) readout structure while focusing on improving its performance compared to previous works. A delta readout scheme that utilizes the image characteristics is optimized for the MCP readout structure. By simply alternating the MCP readout direction for each row selection, additional memory for the row-to-row delta readout is not required, resulting in a reduced area of occupation compared to the previous work. In addition, the bias current of a pre-amplifier in a successive approximate register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) changes according to the operating period to improve the power efficiency. The prototype CIS chip was fabricated using a 0.18-㎛ CMOS process. A 160 × 120 pixel array with 4.4 ㎛ pitch was implemented with a 10-bit SAR ADC. The prototype CIS demonstrated a frame rate of 120 fps with a total power consumption of 1.92 mW.

Multi-mode device which combines multiple access technologies into a device will offer more cost-effective solution than a sole access implementation. Its concurrent multipath transfer (CMT) technology can transmit media flows over multiple end-to-end paths simultaneously, which is essential to select at least two paths from all available paths. At real networks, different paths are likely to overlap each other and even share bottleneck, which can weaken the path diversity gained through CMT. Spurred by this observation, it is necessary to select multiple independent paths as much as possible to avoid underlying shared bottleneck between topologically joint paths. Recent research in this context has shown that different paths with shared bottleneck can weaken the path diversity gained through CMT. In our earlier work, a grouping-based multipath selection (GMS) mechanism is introduced and developed. However, how to estimating the selection is still to be resolved. In this paper, we firstly introduce a Selection Correctness Index (SCI) to evaluate the correctness of selection results in actual CMT experiment. Therefore, this metric is helpful to discuss and validate the accuracy of the output paths. From extensive experiments with a realized prototype, the proposed scheme provides better evaluation tool and criterion in various network conditions.
