A TDMA-based MAC protocol in hybrid-vehicular communication systems for preventing a chain-reaction collision on a highway (하이브리드 차량 통신 시스템에서 연쇄 추돌 사고 방지를 위한 TDMA 기반 MAC 프로토콜)

  • A car accident on a highway occurs a chain-reaction collision because of a vehicle's fast velocity. In order to prevent it, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors. If there are many neighbor nodes, a frame collision probability is high. To solve this, it was proposed for a system as a previous study to send a safe message without frame-collision using separating channels. However, the separation of multiple channels make feasibility low because of increasing hardware's development cost and complexity. In this paper, we proposes a TDMA-based MAC protocol using a single channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol was almost the same as the previous protocol.

  • Because of the development of IPTV, user is provided service of multimedia data regardless the location. But the number of users who try to get service of IPTV game illegally is also increasing. In this paper, user authentication protocol in IPTV housing using PIN code not to access easily for teenagers not to access to prohibited games. The proposed protocol combines authority data in IPTV household and creates a disposable password using PIN code to prevent teenagers from accessing illegally to the prohibited games and saves the data in certification server and set-top box to prevent forced accessing.

  • In this paper for developing and implementing the realtime HD level video streaming transmitter which is operated on the multi-platform in all network and client environment compared to the exist video live streaming transmitter. We design the realtime HD level video streaming transmitter supporting the multi-platform using the TMS320DM386 video processor of T.I company and then porting the Linux kernel 2.6.29 and implementing the RTSP(Real Time Streaming Protocol)/RTP(Real Time Transport Protocol), HLS(Http Live Streaming), RTMP(Real Time Messaging Protocol) that can support the multi-platform of video stream protocol of the received equipments (smart phone, tablet PC, notebook etc.). For proving the performance of developed video streaming transmitter, we make the testing environment for testing the performance of streaming transmitter using the notebook, iPad, android Phone, and then analysis the received video in the client displayer. In this paper, we suggest the developed the Realtime HD(High Definition) level Video Streaming transmitter performance data values higher than the exist products.

  • Today's robots consist of many hardware and software subsystems, depending on the functions needed for specific tasks. Integration of subsystems can require a great deal of effort, as both the communication method and protocol of the subsystem can vary. This paper proposes an expandable robotic system in which all subsystems are integrated under Robot Operation System (ROS) framework. To achieve this, the paper presents a software library, ROS_M, developed to implement the TCP/IP-based ROS communication protocol in different control environments such as MCU and RT kernel based embedded system. Then, all the subsystem including hardware can use ROS protocol consistently for communication, which makes adding new software or hardware subsystems to the robotic system easier. A latency measurement experiment reveals that the system built for loop control can be used in a soft real-time environment. Finally, an expandable mobile manipulator robot is introduced as an application of the proposed system. This robot consists of four subsystems that operate in different control environments.

  • A bus seat is required to be ergonomically designed in terms of its shape and physical properties to increase seating comfort. The present study is intended to develop a systematic bus seat evaluation protocol based on seating comfort. A total of 48 participants evaluated 12 parts (seat belt, recliner, armrest, headrest, upper-back support, lumbar support, seatback bolster, seatback overall, hip support, thigh support, seatpan bolster, and seatpan overall) of 12 bus seats with 17 subjective comfort measures (e.g., convenience of control, suitability of size, and overall comfort). Lastly, ergonomic features of shape and physical properties of each seat part were identified based on the subject evaluation analysis results. The developed bus seat evaluation protocol can be applied to evaluate various types of seats.

  • The Location Service (LCS) feature which provides the terminal UE’s geographical location information has been important issues in IMT-2000 system. The existing location positioning methods are classified into the cell ID based, OTDOA, and network assisted GPS. In this paper, a new hybrid location positioning method which combine three of these methods is proposed. Then the LCS protocol is developed under SDL (Specification and Description Language) development environment after designing a new LCS system architecture and behavior. This protocol design covers the LCS functional model and signaling procedure, system architecture, primitive and data structure, and process SDL diagrams.

  • In the distance education systems, there are limited things while performing educational activities because there are to be problems in structural features of the Web. HTTP, a connection-less protocol, performs requests of client, however, does not hold on the status. Thus, by features of the Web, it is difficult to hold on the connection of learners and trace information asked by learners. Moreover, these problems make impossible not only a learner's connection continuity but also on-line interaction among the learners in the distance education. This thesis developed CHTP, an connection-based hypertext transfer protocol, based on HTTP and a new platform of distance education in order to track activities of learners. The developed web extension platform will make it easy to build up system for being helpful in a distance education because this thesis proposes a standardized way in the protocol.

  • Recently, NMEA2000 became the de facto standard of the communication protocol for the instrument level network in vessels, and it is anticipated that most of the vessels will be equipped with the sensors and actuators based on this protocol. The conventional serial communication specifications such as RS-232, RS-485, or even NMEA0183 are single-talker/multiple-listener and interconnection among multiple sensors and/or actuators usually results in a bundle of wires. On the other hand, NMEA2000 is a true bus type(multiple-talker/multiple-listener) protocol and theoretically up to 256 instruments can be hot-plugged. With the advent of the protocol, it is necessary to consider a new type of monitoring system for the instruments in vessels: In most traditional serial communication environments, a dedicated monitor or user interface was necessary for each sensor or actuator as it was simply not easy to collect data in a single place. With NMEA2000, the collection of various types of information is simple. An embedded system can be employed to combine, to arrange and to display informations from various types of devices. Assuming that the actuators and sensors on a vessel are interconnected by NMEA2000 standard, we devise a tentative interactive vessel monitoring system in which the following 4 kinds of informations are collected and delivered: the navigation, engine, weather and tanks informations.

  • In this paper, android phone information push system based on the XMPP protocol is proposed. It uses Java and eclipse development tools to create an information pushing system in android phone based on the XMPP protocol, and runs on the C/S network situation. Not only, the information can be send and receire form android phone in the PC server, but also the smack packet of the android phone is used fully by this system. Therefore, the speed of the transmission and the transfer are better than other sending sportocol in the basic XMPP protocol of the system.

  • With the development of Computer & Communication Technology, nowadays many people are interested in remote metering, and many vendors are suggesting various remote metering solutions. KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) adopts some of these to some customers who uses a lot of electric power, also continues researching them. But, currently used electronic watt-hour meters vary in terms of communication protocol and data structure by the vendors. So we have to know each vendor's communication protocol and data structure to construct a remote metering system, or to find problems in it. But that's impossible to know each vendor's protocol and data structure because they are reluctant to tell those to outside the company. To solve these problems and to make a much more cost-effective metering system, KEPCO developed standard communication protocol between meters and PC (or metering server), and defined standard functions and data structure which can be used by everyone easily. Those developments support standard interface for every vendors' meters. And Those will be adopted by KEPCO for a part of a new metering standard for electronic watt-hour meters.
