  • In the present investigation, we attempted to design a protocol to develop a hybrid protein with better bioremediation capacity. Using in silico approaches, a Hybrid Open Reading Frame (Hybrid ORF) is developed targeting the genes of microorganisms known for degradation of organophosphates. Out of 21 genes identified through BLAST search, 8 structurally similar genes (opdA, opd, opaA, pte RO, pdeA, parC, mpd and phnE) involved in biodegradation were screened. Gene conservational analysis categorizes these organophosphates degrading 8 genes into 4 super families i.e., Metallo-dependent hydrolases, Lactamase B, MPP and TM_PBP2 superfamily. Hybrid protein structure was modeled using multi-template homology modeling (3S07_A; 99%, 1P9E_A; 98%, 2ZO9_B; 33%, 2DXL_A; 33%) by $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ software suit version 10.4.018. Structural verification of protein models was done using Ramachandran plot, it was showing 96.0% residue in the favored region, which was verified using RAMPAGE. The phosphotriesterase protein was showing the highest structural similarity with hybrid protein having raw score 984. The 5 binding sites of hybrid protein were identified through binding site prediction. The docking study shows that hybrid protein potentially interacts with 10 different organophosphates. The study results indicate that the hybrid protein designed has the capability of degrading a wide range of organophosphate compounds.

  • Wireless communication technologies, especially smartphones, have become increasingly common. Wireless technology is widely used in general industry and this trend is also expected to grow with the development of wireless technology. However, wireless technology is not currently applied in any domestic operating nuclear power plants (NPPs) because of the highest priority of the safety policy. Wireless technology is required in operating NPPs, however, in order to improve the emergency responses and work efficiency of the operators and maintenance personnel during its operation. The wired telephone network in domestic NPPs can be simply connected to a wireless local area network to use wireless devices. This design change can improve the ability of the operators and personnel to respond to an emergency situation by using important equipment for a safe shutdown. IEEE 802.11 smartphones (Wi-Fi standard), Internet Protocol (IP) phones, personal digital assistant (PDA) for field work, notebooks used with web cameras, and remote site monitoring tablet PCs for on-site testing may be considered as wireless devices that can be used in domestic operating NPPs. Despite its advantages, wireless technology has only been used during the overhaul period in Korean NPPs due to the electromagnetic influence of sensitive equipment and cyber security problems. This paper presents the electromagnetic verification results from major sensitive equipment after using wireless devices in domestic operating NPPs. It also provides a solution for electromagnetic interference/radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI) from portable and fixed wireless devices with a Wi-Fi communication environment within domestic NPPs.

  • PURPOSE. The aims of this pilot study were to introduce implant loading devices designed for animal study and to evaluate the validity of the load transmission ability of the loading devices. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Implant loading devices were specially designed and fabricated with two implant abutments and cast metal bars, and orthodontic expansion screw. In six Beagles, all premolars were extracted and two implants were placed in each side of the mandibles. The loading device was inserted two weeks after the implant placement. According to the loading protocol, the load was applied to the implants with different time and method, simulating early, progressive, and delayed loading. The implants were clinically evaluated and the loading devices were removed and replaced to the master cast, followed by stress-strain analysis. Descriptive statistics of remained strain (${\mu}{\varepsilon}$) was evaluated after repeating three cycles of the loading device activation. Statistic analysis was performed using nonparametric, independent t-test with 5% significance level and Friedman's test was also used for verification. RESULTS. The loading devices were in good action. However, four implants in three Beagles showed loss of osseointegration. In stress-strain analysis, loading devices showed similar amount of increase in the remained strain after applying 1-unit load for three times. CONCLUSION. Specialized design of the implant loading device was introduced. The loading device applied similar amount of loads near the implant after each 1-unit loading. However, the direction of the loads was not parallel to the long axis of the implants as predicted before the study.

  • This paper describes an implementation of a security SoC (System-on-Chip) prototype that interfaces a microprocessor with a block cipher crypto-core. The Cortex-M0 was used as a microprocessor, and a crypto-core implemented by integrating ARIA and AES into a single hardware was used as an intellectual property (IP). The integrated ARIA-AES crypto-core supports five modes of operation including ECB, CBC, CFB, CTR and OFB, and two master key sizes of 128-bit and 256-bit. The integrated ARIA-AES crypto-core was interfaced to work with the AHB-light bus protocol of Cortex-M0, and the crypto-core IP was expected to operate at clock frequencies up to 50 MHz. The security SoC prototype was verified by BFM simulation, and then hardware-software co-verification was carried out with FPGA implementation.

  • A passive RFID tag which received attention as a future technology for automatic and quick identification faces some difficulties about security problems such as tag authentication, reader authentication, data protection, and untraceability in addition to cost and reliable identification. A representative passive RFID technology is the ISO/IEC 18000-6 Type C which is an international standard for 900 MHz UHF-band. This standard has some difficulties in applying to the security services such as originality verification, tag's internal information protection, and untraceability, because it does not provide high-level security solution. In this paper, we summarize security requirements of ISO/IEC ITC 1/SC 31 international standardization group, propose security protocols suitable for the UHF-band passive RFID system using a crypto engine, and analyze its security strength. In addition, we verify that it is possible to implement a tag conforming with the proposed security protocols by presenting concrete command/response pairs and cryptographic method.

  • As sensor technology grows up in fields such as environmental hazards detecting system, ubiquitous sensor network, intelligent robot, the sensing and detecting system for sensor is increasing. The sensor data is measured by change of chemical and physical status. Because of decrepit sensor or various sensing environment, it is problem that sensor data is inaccurate result. So the reliability of sensor data is essential. In this paper, we proposes a reliable sensor signal processing platform for various sensor. To improve reliability, we use same sensors in multiple array structure. As sensor data is corrected by spatial and temporal relation signal processing algorithm for measured sensor data, reliability of sensor data can be improved. The exclusive protocol between platform components is designed in order to verify sensor data and sensor state in various environment.

  • In this paper, we designed a digital codec of an RFID tag for EPC global generation 2 class 1. There are a large number of studies on RRD standard and anti-collision algorithm but few studies on the design of digital parts of the RFID tag itself. For this reason, we studied and designed the digital codec hardware for EPC global generation 2 class 1 tag. The purpose of this paper is not to improve former studies but to present the hardware architecture, an estimation of hardware size and power consumption of digital part of the RFID tag. Results are synthesized using Synopsys with a 0.35um standard cell library. The hardware size is estimated to be 111640 equivalent inverters and dynamic power is estimated to be 10.4uW. It can be improved through full-custom design, but we designed using a standard cell library because it is faster and more efficient in the verification and the estimation of the design.

  • For the effective use of satellite communication transponder, tests for the payload system such as IOT(In-Orbit Test), RPM(Routine Payload Monitoring), CSM(Communicatios System Monitoring), and REV(Remote Earth-Station Verification) have to be conducted. Those tests are used in order to verify the condition and generic design of the satellite, to provide a database for operational calculations, and to maintain the quality of communication services. As the satellite communication system gets with wider expansion with higher complexity of operation, tests for the communication system also need more complex operation that usesophisticated computer-controlled measuring system. For and C language based measurement functions, which uses GPIB protocol and SCPI commands. But SICL requires knowledge of BASIC and C language as well as GPIB and SCPL system. This paper introduces a new language called CALSTEP-Control and Access Language for the Systems of Test Equipment and Payload. This language is designed for the operator to perform the tests for the satellite communication system without any special knowledge that is mentioned above. This language has very limited number of commands which are to be used to control the payload system and test equipments to perform IOT and CSM, and those commands are very readable and easy to understand, so an operator without any knowledge of BASIC and C programming language, or SICL and SCPI command can use it.
