비접지 DC 급전시스템에서의 Delta-I 지락보호계전 시스템 (Development of Delta-I ground fault Protective Relaying Scheme for DC Traction Power Supply System)

  • In DC tracking power supply system, ground faults are currently detected by the potential relay, 64P. Though 64P relay detects ground fault, it cannot identify the faulted region which causes long traffic delays and safety problem to passengers. A new ground fault protective relay scheme, ${\Delta}I$ ground fault protective relay, that can identify the faulted region is presented in this paper. In ${\Delta}I$ ground fault protective relaying scheme, ground fault is detected by 59, overvoltage relay, which operates ground switch installed between the negative bus and the ground. It preliminarily chooses the faulted feeder after comparing the current increases among feeders and trips the corresponding feeder breaker. After some time delay, it then recloses the breaker if it finds the preselected feeder is not the actual faulted feeder. Whether or not the preselected feeder is the actual faulted feeder is determined by checking the breaker trip status in the neighboring substation in the direction of the tripped breaker. If the corresponding breaker in the neighboring substation is also tripped, it finally judges the preselected feeder is actually a faulted feeder. Otherwise it recloses the tripped breaker. Its algorithms is presented and verified by EMTP simulation.

  • Wind farm paralleled with electric power network can supply the power into a power network not only the normal conditions, but also the fault conditions of distribution network. If the fault happened in the power line with wind farm, the fault current level measured in a relaying point might be lower than that of distribution network without wind turbine generator. Consequently, it is difficult to detect the fault happened in the distribution network connected with wind generator. This paper describes the influence of wind turbine generator on the protective relaying system for detecting the fault occurred in a power line network. Simulation results shows that the fault current depends on the fault impedance, location, and the capacity of wind farm and distribution network load.

  • This paper describes the correction of overcurrent protective relaying set value in distribution networks interconnected with wind farm by dedicated line. The wind farm composed of wind turbine generators is one of the great energy sources; however, it would be also highly possible that the current in the point of common coupling is influenced by the output power of wind farm. So, the overcurrent relay applied in distribution feeders might generate trip signal for normal operation. In order to prevent the mal-operation of overcurrent relay, it is necessary to correct the relay's setting value according to the output power of end farm. This paper presents the influence of wind farm on the overcurrent relaying set value in distribution feeders for cases of fault as well as normal operation and proposes the basic strategy for correction of overcurrent relaying set value.

  • This paper presents a transformer protective relaying algorithm using the ratio of induced voltages. The proposed algorithm calculates primary and secondary voltage from currents and voltages of primary and secondary windings. The ratio of primary and secondary induced voltages is equal to the turn ratio in case of the steady state and magnetic inrush. On the other hand, the ratio is different form the turn ratio in case of internal winding faults. The algorithm does not require B-H curve and can reduce the relay's operating time.

  • This paper presents the new protective relaying scheme as a method for discriminating of power transform's transient state associated with magnetizng inrush state and internal fault using wavelet transforms. The simulation of EMTP with respect to different fault and inrush condition in transformer have been conducted, and the result prove that the preposed method is able to discriminate between inrush magnetizing current and internal fault.

  • This paper presents a protective relaying algorithm for transformers using the ratio of induced voltages. The ratio primary and secondary induced voltages calculated calculates from currents and voltages of primary and secondary windings is used. In case of the steady state and magnetic inrush, it is equal to the turn ratio while it is different from the turn ratio in case of internal winding faults. The proposed algorithm operates satisfactorily even large residual flux.

  • An automatic excitation characteristics measurement system for the protective relaying current transformer(CT) with accuracy of about 1 % has been developed. The system can be used up to 2 kV and 10 A at power frequency. The developed system can calculate the voltage and current at knee points of $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ tangents in accordance with IEEE standard by the interpolation in log scale. The excitation curve of the CT is plotted in auto-scale simultaneously with measuring rms voltage and current at the secondary of the CT.

  • This paper proposes a new protective relaying algorithm using Neuro-Fuzzy and wavelet transform. To organize advanced nuero-fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various transformer transient states. These data are made of changing-rates of Dl coefficient and RSM value within half cycle after fault occurrence. Subsequently, advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm is obtained by converging the target data. As a result of applying the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, discrimination between internal fault and inrush is correctly distinguished within 1/2 after fault occurrence. Accordingly, it is evaluated that the proposed algorithm can effectively protect a transformer by correcting discrimination between winding fault and inrushing state.

  • An optical magnetic filed sensor, YIG (Yittrium Iron Garnet), response rapidly, to the power-line currents to be measured. In response to Faraday effect, it shows wide-and-linear measurable range. This paper reports the development and implementation of an OOCR (Optoelectric OverCurrent Relay) using this sensor. This relay is free from environmental electro-magnetic noises and has excellent insulation characteristics inherently. By using this OOCR, we can reduce insulation cost of protective relaying systems and its maintenance cost, and can achieve high reliability of the system.
