This study compared the microtensile bond strength $({\mu}TBS)$ of three single step adhesives to dentin. Occlusal superficial dentin was exposed in fifteen human molars. They were assigned to three groups by used adhesives: Xeno group (Xeno III). Prompt group (Adper Prompt L-Pop). AQ group (AQ Bond). Each adhesive was applied to dentin surface. and composite of same manufacturer was constructed. The bonded specimens were sectioned into sticks with an interface area approximately $1mm^2$, and subjected to $\mu$ TBS testing with a crosshead speed of 1mm/minute. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The ${\mu}TBS$ to dentin was $48.78\pm9.83MPa$ for Xeno III. $30.22\pm4.52MPa$ for Adper Prompt L-Pop. and $26.31\pm7.07MPa$ for AQ Bond. 2. The mean ${\mu}TBS$ of Xeno group was significantly higher than that of Prompt group and AQ group (p<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference between the ${\mu}TBS$ of Prompt group and AQ group.
Numerical study with detailed chemistry has been conducted to investigate the NOx formation and structure in $CH_4/Air-CO_2$ counterflow diffusion flames. The importance of radiation effect is identified and the role of $CO_2$ addition is addressed to thermal and chemical reaction effects, which can be precisely specified through the introduction of an imaginary species. Also NO separation technique is utilized to distinguish the contribution of thermal and prompt NO formation mechanisms. The results are as follows : The radiation effect is dominant at low strain rates and it is intensified by $CO_2$ addition. Thermal effect mainly contributes to the changes in flame structure and the amount of NO formation but the chemical reaction effect also cannot be neglected. It is noted that flame structure is changed considerably due to the addition of $CO_2$ in such a manner that the path of methane oxidation prefers to take $CH_4 {\rightarrow}CH_3{\rightarrow}C_2H_6{\rightarrow}C_2H_5$ instead of $CH_4 {\rightarrow}CH_3{\rightarrow}CH_2{\rightarrow}CH$. At low strain rate(a=10) the reduction of thermal NO is dominant with respect to reduction rate, but that of prompt NO is dominant with respect to total amount.

In this study, researchers tried to find the effect, if any, of aging treatment to the specimens with three different dentin bonding agents using MicroCT. One, 5th generation - [Adper$^{TM}$ Single bond Plus] and two 6th generation [AdheSE$^{(R)}$, Adper$^{TM}$ Prompt$^{TM}$ L-Pop$^{TM}$] dentin bonding agents were used in this study. Specimens were divided into 4 groups according to aging treatment method used. Group I : control group, Group II : thermocycled between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ for 60 seconds dwell time 5,000 times, Group III : aged as Group II and artificially brushed 20,000 times, Group IV : aged as Group III and were stored in artificial saliva for 6 months. With Single bond Plus, Group II showed more microleakage than Group I (p < 0.05). Group II and Group III showed more microleakage than Group IV (p < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences among the groups using AdheSE$^{(R)}$ and Prompt$^{TM}$ L-Pop$^{TM}$ (p > 0.05). Among Group I, AdheSE$^{(R)}$ showed more microleakage than Single bond Plus and Prompt$^{TM}$ L-Pop$^{TM}$ (p < 0.05). Among Group II, there were no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05). Among Group III, AdheSE$^{(R)}$ showed more microleakage than Single bond Plus and Prompt$^{TM}$ L-Pop$^{TM}$ (p < 0.05). Among Group IV, AdheSE$^{(R)}$ and Prompt$^{TM}$ L-Pop$^{TM}$ showed more microleakage than Single bond Plus (p < 0.05).
Flue gas recirculation(FGR) is an effective combustion technique for reducing nitrogen oxides(NOx) and is applied in various fields of low-pollution combustion. Continuing the previous study, a numerical analysis was conducted to identify changes of flame characteristics and NOx formation mechanism with applying FGR technique in CH4/air premixed counterflow flames. NOx emitted was divided into four main reaction paths(thermal NO, prompt NO, N2H and N2O), showing relatively the production rate of NO with the recirculation ratio. As a result, thermal NO contributed greatly to the overall NO whereas the effect of N2H was minimal. In addition, emission index of NO was compared as the recirculation ratio increased by modifying the UC San Diego mechanism to examine the contribution of thermal NO.

A chemical reactor model (CRM) was developed for a jet stirred reactor (JSR) to predict the emission of exhaust such as NOx. In this study, a two-PSR model was chosen as the chemical reactor model for the JSR. The predictions of NO formation in lean premixed methane-air combustion in the JSR were carried out by using CHEMKIN and GRI 3.0 methane-air combustion mechanism which include the four NO formation mechanisms. The calculated results were compared with Rutar's experimental data for the validation of the model. The effects of important parameters on NO formation and the contributions of the four NO pathways were investigated. In the flame region, the major pathway is the prompt mechanism, and in the post flame region, the major pathway is the Zelodovich mechanism. Under the lean premixed condition, the N2O mechanism is the important pathway in both flame and postflame regions.

The effect of heat loss rate on NOx formation of $CH_4/air$premixed flame were examined numerically in a perfectly stirred reactor. The following conclusions were drawn. Under the adiabatic wall condition, an increase in the residence time causes a remarkable increases in NOx emission. Under the heat loss conditions, however, NOx decreases significantly as the heat transfer coefficient and residence time increase. As the heat loss rate increases, Thermal NO mechanism and Re-burning NO mechanism play an important role in the NOx reduction, but Prompt NO mechanism and $N_2O$-intermediate NO mechanism lead to the increase in NOx production. Although the NOx formation is actually related to complex NOx mechanism with the changes in the heat transfer coefficient and residence time, it was found that NOx concentration can be represented by independent Thermal NO mechanism. From these results, new NOx correlation combined with the heat loss rate and residence time was suggested for predicting the NOx concentration in a practical $CH_4/air$premixed combustor.
Lean premix combustion is a best method in low $NO_x$ gas turbine combustor and we must know the characteristics of NO emission in high temperature and pressure condition in premix flame. Numerical analysis was performed to investigate the NO emission characteristics by adopting a counterflow as a model problem using detailed chemical kinetics. Methane $(CH_4)$ was used as a test fuel which is the main fuel of natural gas. The tested parameters were stretch rate, equivalence ratio, initial temperature, and pressure in premix flame. Results showed that NO emission was high in low stretch rate, near stoichiometric equivalence ratio, high initial temperature, and high pressure. Also, the pressure effect was sensitive in high temperature condition.
In this study, quantitative measurement of nitric oxide concentration distributions were investigated in the laminar CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interference from Rayleigh scattering and O2 fluorescence. The measurements were taken in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame with equivalence ratios varying from $1.0{\sim}1.6$, and a fixed flowrate of 5slpm. NO was found to produce primarily between an inner premixed and an outer nonpremixed flame front, and total NO concentration is raised when equivalence ratios increase. These results suggest that prompt NO is likely to contribute to NO formation in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame. Furthermore, this trend was well matched with previous works.
Numerical simulations of freely propagating premixed flames burning mixtures of methane and chlorinated hydrocarbons in fuel are performed at atmospheric pressure in order to understand the effect of chlorinated hydrocarbons on the formation of nitrogen oxide. A detailed chemical reaction mechanism is used, the adopted scheme involving 89 gas-phase species and 1017 elementary forward reaction steps. Chlorine atoms available from chlorinated hydrocarbons inhibit the formation of nitrogen oxides by lowering the concentration of radical species. The reduction of NO emission index calculated with thermal or prompt NO mechanism is not linear and is probably related to the saturation effect as $CH_3Cl$ addition is increased, In the formation or consumption of nitrogen oxide, the $NO_2$ and NOCl reactions play an important role in lean flames while the HNO reactions do in rich flames. The molar ratio of Cl to H in fuel has an effect on the magnitude of NO emission index.
In this study, quantitative measurement of nitric oxide concentration distributions visualization were investigated in the laminar $CH_4/O_2N_2$ nixed flame by Planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF). The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interference from Rayleigh scattering and $O_2$ fluorescence. The measurements were taken in $CH_4/O_2N_2$ premixed flame with equivalence ratios varying from $1.0{\sim}1.6$, and a fixed flow rate of 3slpm. NO was found to produce primarily between an inner premixed and an outer nonpremixed flame front, and total NO concentration is raised when equivalence ratios increase. These results suggest that prompt NO is likely to contribute to MO formation in $CH_4/O_2N_2$ premixed flame. Furthermore, this trend was well matched with previous works.
