  • Today, the paradigm of education is changing from teacher-centered, facility-centered, supplier-centered to student-centered, people-centered, and user-centered. In 2019, the Ministry of Education promoted the school space innovation project to provide a school space as a balanced life space, such as learning, play, and rest, through educational activities led by students, who are the leaders of the future society. Based on this, Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education prepared a manual for practice while carrying out a project to build a future classroom. In those projects 'user participatory design' is applied as a new design approach and facilitators play an important role as experts in the process of user participatory design. However, it is different from the guidelines by the Ministry of Education in terms of facilitator role; facilitator in Incheon's future classroom projects can be in charge of designer part. This was possible because the design scope was limited to the classroom space and the construction permit work was not applied, and the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education seems to be able to successfully implement the plan derived through 'user participatory design' under the responsibility of the facilitator. However, this may be considered to be inconsistent with the basic purpose of the school space innovation project. In the case of the school unit project, it is considered that more systematic supplementation is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study is to think about the educational effect of school space innovation project through user participation, to investigate and analyze the actual situation of user participation school space innovation project of elementary, middle and high schools of Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, The educational effect was analyzed. After the students and teachers participated in the improvement of the school space, the students' skills were improved. Overall, emotional abilities were most cultivated, and elementary school students were most physically cultivated. The intimacy created by participation and activities and play-oriented projects may have helped to develop students' abilities. In addition, the school became fun after user participation, and there was a positive effect of increasing a sense of apathy and belonging. The expansion of user participation has resulted in not only the satisfaction of space but also the friendship and emotional part of students. As a result of this study, the school space constructed through the user participation process brought about significant educational changes in school life and individual quality of life in the learning activities and school life of teachers and students, the main users of the school space.

  • In this talk, we will give an overview of the small telescope network project in Korea. The small telescope network is a project in planning that would gather 0.4m-1.0m telescopes in Korea together for a common use in research and education, and the project is being led by the Optical/IR Astronomy Division of KAS. Even in the era of giant telescopes, small telescopes are still competitive for various research topics that require rapid response or long-term, steady monitoring. There are quite a few small telescopes in Korea, but the research use of these telescope has been very limited. By organizing these telescopes together, the small telescope network hopes to bring these telescopes in full operation and offer Korean astronomers competitive observational resources. In this talk, we will outline the project, describe potential resources, and several science cases such as multi-messenger astronomy, supernovae, and AGN. We will also introduce how this project might be run, with the expected operation of the small network starting at 2020.

  • Informatics curriculum has been revised for informatics principles and concepts to effectively teach. According to the revised curriculum, researches are verifying the educational effects of algorithmic thinking and problem-solving abilities using programming language by applying it to various area. However, researches in programming education considering the level of student are yet incomplete. This research has analyzed the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness. As results of difference of project completeness, a high perceived level of problem solving group's performance of project completeness was higher than a low perceived level of problem solving group's one. Analysis of the impact of the perceived level of problem solving on the performance of project completeness, 'problem finding' factor had a significant impact. This research suggested the importance of 'problem finding' and self-reflecting introspective 'reviewing' stages in problem solving process using programming language.abstract of your study in English.   • The practical learning requires the new paradigm in its content of education and environment along with the rapid development of information communication technology and the expansion of digital content industry. Especially, the animation education, core area of digital content industry, has attempted to improve the content and method of education by focusing on creativity, convergence and practical education. However, education environment in the previous form of computer laboratory has not been reflected the characteristics of animation education. In the light of this, this research would suggests the effective education environment implemented animation job competency and the characteristics of animation production. Firstly, the problem of previous educational environment will be explored through looking at computer rooms of domestic Universities. The characteristics of animation production consisted of Pre-production, Main-production, Post-production and elements of animation job competency will be reviewed by focusing on three phases of production, Pre-production, Main-production and Post-production, and six particular jobs, concept art, modeling & texturing, animating, lighting, VFX and compositing. Secondly, 6 types of space adapted from space syntax, possibly explored the embedded meaning of the structure of space and environment, will be reviewed by focusing on integration, separation and interaction. Thirdly, based on the characteristics of animation production, the element of animation job competency, 6 types of space, analytical tools about animation project education will be deducted, and the case study regarding animation studio, Walt Disney studio, will be processed by focusing on its production environment and spatial composition by focusing on Pre-production, Main-production, Post-production. Fifthly, the effective spatial composition for animation project education will be explored based on the interpretation of literature reviews and case study. In regard to this, the research addresses the spatial composition reflected the characteristics of practical learning and job competency in animation education, which differs from the previous form of standardized education spaces.

  • This study aims to research the characteristics of space composition and location for the rural community center. The phenomenon of urban areas from rural areas by the dismantlement of the community is being increasingly deepened. The current village welfare center in the rural villages of the dismantlement phenomenon of the community in rural areas can not be solved alone. The location of the Community Center in rural villages for the interaction of existing local inhabitants and should be located where possible near existing villages. This thesis studies and analyzes the characteristics of rural villages in the rural new town project districts. The basic function of the community center space analysis model is the Public service space, the Communication space, the Health space, the Amenity space, the Education space(including the childcare). This study analyze the local characterristics, the location type and the floor plan characteristics about the Community Center in rural villages by the rural new town example project.

A Study on Restructuring of Learner-Centered Education Environment through Participatory Design - Focusing on the 'User-Integrated Platform Project' Case - (참여디자인을 통한 학습자중심교육환경 재구조화 방향연구 - '사용자-융합플랫폼 프로젝트' 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The need for communication is emphasized in decision making, design methods and processes for the educational environment that contain new curricula and learning methods. In this study, we tried to find the direction and agenda of learner-centered environment restructuring through the 'user-integrated platform' in which various subjects related to school space environment understand each other's position and overcome the barriers and prejudices of each sector. The project was planned in a 'bottom-up process' method that uncovered the singularities of the previous stage and led the main contents of the next stage. The various subjects who participated in the project shared their own experiences and different positions regarding the school space. At the workshop, the topics of the participating teams were divided into two categories. The teams in the category of the 'school culture and space' insisted innovation of 'the school culture' as a premise for the restructuring of the 'school space', and proposed schools with different interpretations of 'authority and rules of school', 'the meaning of learning and play' and 'the main character of school. The teams in the category of the 'school borders and spaces' focused on 'communication' and proposed schools containing 'emotional care of students', 'borders between schools and villages', 'village community schools', and 'interspace and niche time'. After the workshop, we were able to derive the direction and architectural strategy of the school space restructuring by analyzing the works of the participants. Through this study, we confirmed the possibility of translating user's ideas into the professional domain through careful planning, preparation, facilitation, and analysis in Participatory Design.

Emotional Characteristics of Interior Design for Children's Rec-Education Space (어린이 놀이학습공간 실내디자인의 감성적 특성)

  • This study is to analyze and determine the emotional design on domestic rec-education space, in order to propose a way to design children rec-education space. A study is on reviewing needs and verify categories of emotional design through interior design of rec-education space, A study procedure will begin with theoretical proofing of children rec-education and move on to needs of emotional design in interior design and types of analysis for it. With this procedure, we will project adequate way for emotional characteristics in rec-education space and will analyze types of it from interior design of rec-education space in nine different domestic brands. With this background, we like to present methods and reveal characteristics of it. The conclusion on this study is described as followed. First, children rec-education space has positively carried types of emotional characteristics: experimental, continuity, and symbolism. Second, Some precondition; application through types of pattern, experimentation on light in space, continuity on linear interior space composition, symbolism in abstract implementation, and physical control over designed subject, has low effectiveness on creating emotional space by applying such scale matters. Third, the actual interior design subject matters and supporting facilities' textural accommodation is inadequately built for their majority, children, whether it is direct or indirect for contact. Forth, Even though to carry emotional space needs some kinds of story telling and prerequisite sequential space composition, there are lack of applicable space compositions. For this reason, it needs on going study in emotional space for children rec-education space. Last, there are needs for researching a depth understanding and presenting different characteristics of emotional interior design by brands.

Development of a Educational Project-Based WebSite Using Multimedia Materials (멀티미디어 자료를 활용한 교육용 프로젝트기반 웹사이트 개발)

  • In spite of the fact that project-based learning has had positive effects on improvement of creation power and expansion of the spirit of inquiry, the project-based learning lesson was difficult to carry out in the classroom. The web overcomes time and space limitations in traditional schools. This study has developed and implemented an online project-based website of children's education, based upon the extensive classroom use of multimedia materials to further students participation and interest in projects of discovery. The developed website shows the entire process used through out the project. This paper presents the project's activities and students' learning, using multimedia and web. This study was conducted in fourth grade of an elementary school for a month. The results of this study suggest that the effects of using the project-based website were improved self-directed learning and generation of new ideas.

  • Pumasi and Cooperative Child Care Sharing have had positive results among participants and show possibilities of spreading out to the community in general. However, performance was not proved where it is clarified, and the experience of 23 local Healthy Family Support Centers have that ran the demonstration project were unable to be collected. It is the point of time when the initial backing up is important but the centers do not have the systematic support. Therefore, this research presents an effective management plan through qualitative research involving Pumasi participants and person in charge. The operation strategies by the stage of the project were as follows: First, in the beginning stage, the person in charge establishes the target and vision of the project. Second, when comprising the Pumasi team, it was necessary to consider their characteristics according to the team organization subjects. Third, it is necessary to extend the turn-off time and provide many programs so that the various populations can participate. Fourth, in the advertising step, word of mouth and individual contact needs to be utilized. Fifth, in a medium or small city or an urban-rural complex area, the person in charge should support the participants' Pumasi activities. Sixth, various programs such as a passive and active parent education program and Pumasi education program for the leader needs to be provided for the activation of Pumasi activities. Lastly, a cooperative child care sharing location needs to be constructed by the duality system of the base space and outer space. In this location, the inside play space for the children is essential.
