  • To specify a formal semantics is to do a significant part for design, standardization and translation of programming languages. The existing studies of a formal semantics for Java have a weak point to describe a clear and practical semantics for an efficient translation. It is necessary to do research for a formal semantics to specify a static and dynamic semantics clearly in order to do an efficient translation. This paper presents the improved Action Equation that specifies a formal semantics for Java to extend the research using Action Equation. The Action Equation is a practical and accurate specification that describes object-oriented programming features and handles exceptions. The specified Action Equation is compared to other descriptions, in terms of readability, modularity, extensibility, and flexibility and then we verified that Action Equation is superior to other formal semantics.

  • CORBA IDL and RMI, the representative of distributed object model, support different approaches for distributed computing environments. CORBA approach does not support the application generated by RMI, even though it supports multiple programming languages. Object translation system between RMI to CORBA is designed and implemented for interoperability of distributed objects on the two different distributed programming environments. Suggested system is considered binding, inheritance, polymorphism, object passing, and callback which are key properties on the distributed objects. To validate the usefulness of the proposed system, we adopt a model for distrubuted objects and implement it as an application on the RMI environment. And, we translated it to an application on the CORBA environment. We observed the performance of translated application in the respect of inheritance, object passing, polymorphism across the machine boundary. Experiments showed that performance of distributed objects, those generated by translation system and those implemented on the CORBA environment, is equivalent.

  • Real-time(RT) object-oriented(OO) distributed computing is a form of RT distributed computing realized with a distributed computer system structured in the form of an object network. Several approached proposed in recent years for extending the conventional object structuring scheme to suit RT applications, are briefly reviewed. Then the approach named the Real Time Simulation Programing(RTSP) structuring scheme was formulated with the goal of instigating a quantum productivity jump in the design of distributed time triggered simulation. The RTSP scheme is intended to facilitate the pursuit of a new paradigm in designing distributed time triggered simulation which is to realize real-time computing with a common and general design style that does not alienate the main-stream computing industry and yet to allow system engineers to confidently produce certifiable distributed time triggered simulation for safety-critical applications. The RTSP structuring scheme is a syntactically simple but semantically Powerful extension of the conventional object structuring approached and as such, its support tools can be based on various well-established OO programming languages such as C+ + and on ubiquitous commercial RT operating system kernels. The Scheme enables a great reduction of the designers efforts in guaranteeing timely service capabilities of application systems.

  • Various other platforms have appeared due to the abolishment of WIPI requirement and increased problems related with hacking and security. Since levels consisting of these platforms are composed of various APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) which are not standardized, other ways must be considered to protect data which are transferred using XML formats. Therefore, XML encryption API and XML digital signature API for data protection and certification, which are both responsible to define mark-up languages for XML encryption and digital signature respectively, were designed in this paper. The simulation system which played the role of the server and client between two terminal units was realized to validate the APIs.

  • Compiler and language implementation courses have long been recognized as an important subject in Computer Science curricula. It is because not only the knowledge for a compiler plays important roles in understanding programming languages and systems but compiler technologies can be used in many applications. However it requires much effort to teach effectively it due to limited resources and time restriction. We present a compiler teaching model using Edu-IDEC which is a development environment of educational compilers. Edu-IDEC is a tool on the robot platform. It uses the Eclipse plug-ins and has functions like compiler developing tools, a reference compiler, visualization tool of syntax tree, visualization tool of object language, NXT robot controllers, and its simulator. We also present the evaluation results for our model by applying it to an actual class.

  • Set constraints logic language is a language that adopts `set theory` in programming. In this paper, we introduce the procedure for solving set constraints proposed by A. Dovier and show how the procedure can be implemented in logic language Prolog. The procedure is represented in `rewriting rules` and this representation is characterized by having nondeterministic rule applicationsand mathematical variables that is difficult to be implemented in general programming languages. In this paper, we show that the representation can be easily implemented by using nondeterministic control, logical variables and data structure `list` provided in Prolog. Our implementation has following advantages.First we have implemented the full features of the language. Second we have described the implementation detail in thisresearch. Third other used the commercial Prolog called SICStus, but we are using CIAO Prolog with GNU GPL(General Public License) and anyone can use it freely. Forth the software of our implementation is open source so anyone can use, modify, and distribute it freely.

  • In our domestic software industries, it is focused on such a high quality development/ testing process, maturity measurement, and so on. But the real industrial fields are still working on a code-centric development. Most of the existing legacy systems did not keep the design and highly increased the code complexity with more patching of the original codes. To solve this problem, we adopt a code visualization technique which is important to reduce the code complexity among modules. To do this, we suggest a tool chaining method based on the existing open source software tools, which extends NIPA's Software Visualization techniques applied to procedural languages. In addition, it should be refactored to fix bad couplings of the quality measurement indicators within the code visualization. As a result, we can apply reverse engineering to the legacy code, that is, from programming via model to architecture, and then make high quality software with this approach.

Abstract Action Semantics is a framework for formally defining the semantics of programming languages. Action semantics-directed compiler generators take an action semantics definition of a programming language and automatically generate a compiler of the language. The generated compiler first expands a source program into an action denotation of the program, and then compiles it to a target code. In these compiler-generation systems, it is important to statically process the expanded action denotation - used as an intermediate code - as much as possible so that the generated compiler can produce better target code. In this paper, we develop an automatic action-transformation method based on online partial evaluation. The previous off-line method was rather weak because it could not partially evaluate actions inside the body of abstraction and unfolding-action without performing separate global analysis. The proposed online method remedies the problem, thus naturally improves the quality of residual actions. Moreover, we also extend the method to partially evaluate imperative actions.

  • As the demand for the talented with computing thinking and programming skills increases the importance of coding education is increasing. Although various coding instructor training programs have been implemented nationwide, little research has been conducted analyzing the current status and contents of coding instructor training programs. Therefore, this thesis presents the design, development process and managing strategies of the 'Coding Instructor Training Courses for 4C Talent Development'. The training program consists of introductory courses and practical coding courses. In the introductory courses, learners acquires the basic knowledge required of coding instructors, and then proceeds to the practical courses to systematically learn the pedagogical knowledge and skills required to educate learners from kindergarten through high school. The case study introduced in this paper is expected to provide useful information to the educators planning and managing the coding instructor training program in the future.

  • Recently, the performance of binaural hearing aids is rapidly improved with the technology advancement of wireless communication, digital signal processing, and integrated circuit design. However, the previous hearing aids developer platforms can't be applied to binaural hearing aids developing, because it has no consideration for wireless communication and binaural hearing control. Also, the previous developer platforms are not easy to use for the algorithm development, because programming languages are limited. In this paper, we designed and implemented the open platform board for binaural hearing aids developing. The designed board can be programmed by general programming language and can be used wireless communication module. In order to verify the designed open platform board, we used the volume control algorithm using two open platform board. As a result of experiment, we verified the performance of designed and implemented open platform board that was successfully operated the binaural hearing control and the wireless communication.
