  • Information and knowledge society in the 21st century computer education is very important. Computer programming education in computer education is very important. There are very few teaching and learning model of computer programming education. In this paper, we develop a self-regulated learning model for students to be self-regulated learning. In this study, we propose self-regulated learning elements, a self-regulated learning steps and self-regulated learning modele. Self-regulated learning elements are task level, generalized level, and efficiency level. Self-regulated learning phases are problem understanding, design, and coding, testing, and maintenance. Self-regulated learning models are to copy, to modify, create, and to challenge. The results of this study are as follows. At Correlations between learning elements and achievement, generalized level, and efficiency level are higher than the task level. At Correlations between learning and achievement, Understanding and design stages are higher than the other stages. At Correlations between learning model and achievement, to transform, to create, and to challenge are higher than to copy.

  • In Korea, software education is implemented from elementary school. As a representative software education tool for elementary schools, various chess games reconstructed based on the rules of Western chess games are being used. On the other hand, Yutnori, one of our traditional games, also includes elements of software education, so research on this is needed. Therefore, in this study, a Yutnori program based on computational thinking using an educational programming language, Entry, and a turtle robot was developed and its validity verified. As a result of the validity verification, the CVR value was higher than 0.7 in the degree of agreement with the subject achievement standard (3 questions), the appropriateness of learning materials (4 questions), and the possibility of class application (3 questions). Therefore, it could be judged that the learning program developed in this study has a high level of agreement with the subject achievement standards, appropriate learning materials, and high possibility of being applied to classes. In order to generalize this content in the future, the effectiveness will need to be verified, and experimental research will be needed to understand this.

  • Programming education plays a very effective role in comprehensively learning problem analysis ability, logical thinking ability, procedural problem solving method, and imaginary problem solving method. Until recently, however, it is not applied to the elementary and the middle school in Korea, which is very different from the other IT centerd countries such as the U.S., etc., where coding class is actively implemented. Fortunately, Korean government recognized this reality and decided to implement programming education as a regular subject in the elementary school from 2017. In this situation, many researchers' programming education model research is urgently required for the students to learn in the elementary and the middle school. This research developed and suggested 17 sessions of programing education model connected with scratch language and sensor board, which is hardware, to be applied to the class of the 5th and 6th graders. As the result of implementing the joint class of 5th and 6th graders during the after-school class based on programming education process suggested to verify the suitability for elementary school programing education, satisfactory achievement was attained by the assessed students. The researcher plans to develop an optimum model proper for the elementary school students' intellectual capacity by more improving programming education model.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of educational programming language(EPL) using the meta-analysis method. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, t-test and F-test were performed for the effect size differences between the variables. The results of the study were as follows: First, EPL turned out to be highly effective in improving learning effects. The total mean of effect size was as big as 1.01 and the value of $U_3$ was 84.38%. EPL increased the learning effect by 34.38% compared with the control group. Second, the moderator variables such as subject, publication type, and learner's school age there was no statistically significant differences. By designing the experiment nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design showed statistically significant effect size compared with single group pretest-posttest design. Third, the mean effect sizes of the dependent variables were as follows: Creativity 1.90, problem solving ability 1.25, logical thinking ability 1.18, learning motivation 0.81, and achievement 0.59. EPL showed positive effect than traditional teaching and learning method comprehensively.

  • In this paper, we present a 5W1H programming model for IT non-experienced people who are not familiar with computer programming and those who need programming education. Based on this model, we can design a development tool that can be easily programmed by beginners. This development tool is a programming method applying the 5W1H concept and constructs a sentence to satisfy the control condition of 'Who, When, Where, What, and How', which is the sentence element of 5W1H. Therefore, the user can easily develop the target system as if constructing the sentence without learning the programming language of the target system. In this paper, to verify the effectiveness of the 5W1H programming model proposed in this paper, we applied the concept of 5W1H programming to Arduino and developed the development tool and performed the first verification and applied the second verification to the speech recognition smart home development platform.

  • In distributed office, the pairs can program together using a distributed pair programming system. Many CSCW tools featuring remote screen sharing function have insufficient usability, accessibility to introduce many developers to distributed pair programming. In this paper, we suggest a distributed pair programming system based on IDE, which many developers will accept and use easily. We have do#eloped a user scenario and GUI of the system, making distributed pair programming easier and designed with high extensibility by adapting design patterns and implemented in Java language. Our findings will be of significant help to developers dealing with implementation of distributed pair programming function into some commercial IDE.

  • In this paper, we study whether the programming questions of the Informatics·Computer recruitment tests were suitable for selecting teachers with required programming skills. The average points of the programming questions constituted 38%(20.8 points) of the total scores for the entire curriculum based on the results from analyzing the previous questions in the past 5 years. Moreover, the distribution of points for each evaluation criteria within programming and data structure, two exam subjects which have a high proportion of programming questions, demonstrated a large deviation ranging from 0% to 47% and 0% to 53% respectively. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 31 teachers to examine if the previous programming questions were suitable for measuring teachers' competency in programming abilities required in the actual teaching experience. Computational thinking ability was ranked the highest at 58% in response to the area that needs to be evaluated in the recruitment test. In response to the relevance of previous questions, problem solving ability was ranked the highest at 2.84 on a 5-point scale, but the overall appropriateness was deemed low. C language and Python were regarded as the computer languages suitable to be tested for programming questions with each ranked 55% and 45%. The finding confirms that teachers preferred Python and the incumbent C language to others. Based on the results of the questionnaire, we recommend changes in the programming questions to improve the selection criteria.

  • In this paper, to design a basic data science practice curriculum as a liberal arts subject for non-majors, we proposed an educational method using an Excel(spreadsheet) data analysis tool. Tools for data collection, data processing, and data analysis include Excel, R, Python, and Structured Query Language (SQL). When it comes to practicing data science, R, Python and SQL need to understand programming languages and data structures together. On the other hand, the Excel tool is a data analysis tool familiar to the general public, and it does not have the burden of learning a programming language. And if you practice basic data science practice with Excel, you have the advantage of being able to concentrate on acquiring data science content. In this paper, a basic data science practice curriculum for one semester and weekly Excel practice contents were proposed. And, to demonstrate the substance of the educational content, examples of Linear Regression Analysis were presented using Excel data analysis tools.
