  • The purpose of this study is to verify the applicability of concept mapping in the process of planning social welfare program based on community network. Concept mapping is a kind of decision-making method that structuralized complex ideas and presented visually. Already, concept mapping is widely utilized in counseling, nursing and public health area to plan and evaluation their program and service. For recent, effectiveness of concept mapping has been reported. Concept mapping is a effective decision-making method that they recognize outcome gap between service provider and client, reach the outcome's consensus in counseling and nursing, medical area. In this study, we conceptualized 3rd year outcomes of Community Impact Project that was supported from Busan Chest using concept mapping. This CI project intervenes children and youth who lives in Buk-gu, Busan. Concept mapping has six stages-preparation, collecting ideas, structuring statements, representing statement, interpreting the results of the analysis, applying the results. We followed these steps. The participants were working at social welfare organizations, total 11 persons. We obtained 60 statements and analyzed using multidimensional scaling. we collected 5 clusters, cluster 1 'awareness and attitude change of children and youth', cluster 2 'social system change of children and youth', cluster 3 'friendly community formation', cluster 4 'community people change', cluster 5 'service provider change'. As a result, among total 5 clusters formed, 'awareness and attitude change of children and youth' came to the strongest outcomes. When concept mapping was applied to the program planning, the consensus of the opinion came easily in the decision-making process, and the participants were empowered. In addition, clear conceptualization on each element of the program planning was made.

  • Purpose: With accumulated necessity to develop Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) in Korea, various types of Nurse Practitioner (NP) programs have been recently developed. Unlike the origin of the NP programs in the U.S., in which the lack of primary health care provider preceded the creation of NP education, NP programs in Korea are currently in an early stage in which the scope of practice and educational boundaries are still evolving. Just imitating American models may result in culturally inappropriate and practically non-feasible APN programs in Korea. This article was aimed to evaluate the top-ranked Oncology NP (ONP) programs in U.S. with those in Korea. Method: Using the Donabedian paradigm, the educational structure, process, and outcome were compared and contrasted between two countries. Results: The findings of this paper demonstrated that many aspects of structure of the Korean program are similar to those of the Americans with minor differences. Three strategies for future development of ONP program in Korea are suggested. Conclusion: Practical and feasible scope of practice for ONP in Korea should be determined. It needs to embrace every aspects of cancer experience. Also, nursing-oriented and culturally competent practice needs to be identified and incorporated into the ONP practice.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop the curriculum model for occupational health nurse specialist in Korea. Method: Internet searching was conducted to analyze the type of master program for occupational health nurses in the U. S. To identify the importance of occupational health nurse specialist (OHNS)'s role, self-administrative questionnaire survey was done to335 occupational health nurses through postal mail and continuing education in 2003. SPSSWIN 10.0 was used for data analysis. Results: In the U. S., two main types of nurse practitioner program and nurse manager program are separately operated for occupational health nurses as master level. Under the governmental support, geographical and financial barrier can be decreased through the distance learning and the appointment of regional ERC. Most occupational health nurses recognized importantly the role of OHNS as direct care provider, educator, consultant, and manager. Conclusion: It is recommended that the job standard for OHNS needs to be developed, and regulation has to be changed for the diverse curriculum based on the need of occupational health nurses, and governmental support must be strengthened for occupational health nurses to apply more easily to the program.

  • Adult guardianship system is about to launch in July 2013 in South Korea. For its successful first step, this study examined social awareness on the adult guardianship system and compared the awareness of parents and the awareness of service providers in the handicapped adult guardianship program to draw political implications on how to improve the system. As a result, this study found that people had higher awareness on adult guardianship (78.9%) but their understanding was lower (35.2%). Secondly, prospected guardians were found to have stronger demand on hospital use and financial management than on their asset management. About 63.3% of them showed an intention to use the system in the future. Lastly, both parent group and service provider group were found to have awareness at a similar level to each other on civilian guardian types, cost, who to bear coat and how much, and details of the program.

  • In this paper, we propose the converged profile and authentication scheme for supporting converged media services of broadcasting & communications convergence in fixed mobile convergence networks. The proposed scheme supports the management of access, service, mobility and IPTV profiles on subscriber and a function of open API(Application Program Interface) for providing the subscriber profile for the third party service provider with the PUSH/PULL method. The open API is based on a web service and a REST(Representational State Transfer) and provides various services for the third party service provider with ease. In addition, the proposed scheme supports a function of SSO(Single Sign-on). After user succeeded in establishing an access connection, user can sustain the same authentication state with this function although connected access network is changed or IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem) service network is attached. We evaluate and analyze the performance of the proposed scheme through the implementation of CUPS(Converged User Profile Server) system test-bed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test a hypothesis explaining direct and indirect relationships among the factors affecting self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients, based on self-determination theory. Methods: Data were collected from 222 outpatients with kidney transplantation. The endogenous and exogenous variables of the hypothetical model consisted of healthcare provider's autonomy support, duration after kidney transplantation, basic psychological need satisfaction, autonomous and controlled motivation, depression, and self-care behaviors. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 and AMOS 24.0. Results: The hypothetical model demonstrated a good fit: RMSEA=.06, SRMR=.04, TLI=.94, CFI=.97. Statistically significant explanatory variables for the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients were duration after transplantation and basic psychological need satisfaction. Healthcare provider's autonomy support was indirectly significant, while autonomous motivation, controlled motivation and depression were not statistically significant for self-care behaviors. The variables accounted for 59.5% of the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an autonomy support program for healthcare providers to enhance the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients. Preventing the deterioration of self-care behaviors will be possible by conducting this program at one year and six years post-transplantation. In addition, the results suggest the need to developing personalized autonomy support programs for healthcare providers that can meet the basic psychological need satisfaction of kidney transplant patients.

  • Health Information Exchange (HIE) is expected to improve the quality and efficiency of care by allowing providers online access to healthcare information generated by other providers at the point of care. However, the adoption of the technology in Korea has been slow since its pilot program in 2007~2010 at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The objective of this study was to survey stakeholders on the incentive program for the facilitation of HIE adoption. We surveyed 39 experts representing 6 categories of stakeholders-provider, insurer, government, information service firms, customers, and medical informatics experts for the interviews. Interview questions included program objectives, program participation requirements, incentive payment method, and administrative burden for program participation. Experts indicated that the quality of care was the most important value the program should aim to achieve through the HIE adoption. They suggested that the requirements and administrative burden for participation should be kept at minimum to recruit a large number of providers to the program, which is an indicator of program success. Experts were divided on the payment method whether the incentive should be paid as a part of the fee payment scheme operated by the National Health Insurance (NHI) or should be a payment made independent of the NHI. The source of the divide was conflict of interest among stakeholders as to who pays for the program, and the insurer and consumer groups were against the NHI taking the financial burden. It appeared to be the most significant factor for the successful program launching to resolve the gap in perceptions about benefits of the technology among stakeholders and to win the willingness to pay for the program.
