  • The purpose of this work is to examine the viability of employing the prosody cloning technique in teaching English prosody. Ten native speakers of Korean high school students with similar level of English proficiency participated in the poem self-study experiment. Five of them were grouped into the experimental group and the remaining five into the control group. One popular English poem from a high school textbook was selected and its recording by a professional native speaker of English was used in the experiment. The members of the two groups made a recording of the poem both before and after the experiment. For the study material, the experimental group used their own recorded utterances with their prosody cloned from the professional English speaker, while the control group used the utterances of the professional speaker alone. The acoustic analysis of the recordings by the prosodic foot both before and after the experiment showed that the experimental group performed slightly better than the control group in the realization of the intensity contour of the poem. There were no significant differences in the realization of the intonation contour and segmental durations between the two groups. The recording after the experiment was also subjectively evaluated by a native speaker of English and the scores for the experimental group were slightly higher than the control group. These findings suggest that the use of English poems with the help of the prosody cloning technique is a potentially viable approach to teaching English intonation to high school students. A long-term study with more students is necessary.

Attached Vaccaria seeds to auricular acupuncture of the experiment group. Did not attach them to the control group. Them to exercise using a Bike-Ergometer exercise. I measured their blood pressure before the exercise, 15 minutes after the exercise and 30 minutes after the exercise. I compared the difference between the systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. The method to choose the subjects was Random allocation. Results : 1. Comparing the systolic blood pressure of the experiment group and the control group, the average systolic blood pressure of the experiment group, who did the Bike-Ergometer exercise putting on Auricular-plaster Vaccaria seeds, was 125.45 mmHg before the exercise, 121.20 mmHg 15 minutes after the exercise and 120.30 mmHg 30 minutes after the exercise. Terefore, the group's systolic blood pressure after the exercise was more controlled than the systolic blood pressure before the exercise. The control group's systolic blood pressure increased compared to the beginning. To measure the change before and after the exercise, I carried out paird-t test. The result was statistically significant. 2. Comparing the diastolic blood pressure of the experiment group and the control group, the average diastolic blood pressure of the experiment group, who did the Bike-Ergometer exercise putting on Auricular-plaster Vaccaria seeds, was 81.45 mmHg before the exercise, 79.65 mmHg 15 minutes after the exercise and 79.05 mmHg 30 minutes after the exercise. As a result of carrying out paird-t test to measure the change of the diastolic blood pressure, the change of the dilating blood pressure was statistically significant. However, the difference of the dilating blood pressure between 15 minutes after the exercise and 30 minutes after the exercise was not statistically significant. Comparing the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure of the experiment group and the control group, the blood pressure of the experiment group, who did the Bike-Ergometer exercise putting on Auricular-plaster Vaccaria seeds, decreased compared to the beginning and the blood pressure of the control group, who did not put on Auricular-plaster Vaccaria seeds, increased compared to the beginning. Conclusions : The hypothesis was supported that the increase of the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the experiment group, putting on Auricular-plaster Vaccaria seeds, was more controlled than that of the control group. In future, it can be medically used by verifying the various effects through repeated studies.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of professional soldiers' family healthiness on the organizational effectiveness of the military and test for any differences in the structural modeling path caused by the mediating effects of empowerment depending on whether they lived with their families or not. Data were collected with a self-administered survey distributed to 480 professional soldiers after the approval of the Ministry of National Defense. The data collected were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, structural equation modeling, and multi-group analysis. The analysis results show that the family healthiness of all of the professional soldiers had direct or indirect effects on their organizational effectiveness via empowerment and that family healthiness was a variable with a very large explanatory power for organizational effectiveness. Both family healthiness and empowerment had effects on the organizational effectiveness of the solders that were living with their families and those who lived separately from their families. The levels of family healthiness, empowerment, and organizational effectiveness were all high among the professional soldiers that were living with their families and all low among those who were not. Increasing the family healthiness and empowerment was found to enhance the organizational effectiveness in all of the models, and a higher organizational effectiveness would be expected from professional soldiers living with their families. These findings led to a proposal that various plans should be prepared to help professional soldiers live with their families and provide them with family welfare support.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of providing toothbrushing by professionals as part of oral hygiene education for the elderly. We randomly visited 12 centers in the metropolitan city and analyzed the data of 114 participants among 310 early registrants aged >65 years, who participated in the study at all 3 time points. The subjects were categorized into an experimental group (odd-numbered visits) and a control group (even-numbered visits). Oral hygiene practices were provided for both experimental and control groups, but professional toothbrushing was performed in a different manner in the experimental group. Differences in plaque index (PI) according to the subjects' general characteristics and oral health status were assessed using the t-test, and the effect of PI difference between the experimental and control groups was assessed by repeated measure two-way analysis of variance. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was used to analyze factors affecting the PI. At baseline, the mean overall PI was 61.82. In both experimental and control groups, the PI significantly reduced from the baseline (p<0.01). At 5 weeks, the experimental group showed a decrease of 27.16 points from the baseline, and the 10-week PI was similar to the 5-week PI. The control group showed a decrease of 14.87 points from the baseline, and the PI increased by 5.74 points at 10 weeks. PI-related factors were gender and self-xerostomia. The PI was lower in the female group and the group with self- xerostomia (p<0.01). It is important to select an appropriate method to educate elderly subjects on proper removal of dental plaque and to habituate correct behavior, which requires inclusion of a direct toothbrushing intervention by a specialist.
