Purpose: This study was done to examine the experience of school health instructors in applying complimentary and alternative medicine (CAM). Method: The participants were 215 health instructors working in elementary schools in Busan. Data were collected from Dec. 1, 2004 to Mar. 10, 2005 and were analyzed using SPSS WIN 10.0. Results: Most of the health instructors had knowledge about CAM. Among the various CAM methods, acupuncture was the most widely known at 78.6%. While 53.5% had no experience in CAM education, 46.5% had been trained. Slightly over half (52.1%) had used CAM at school and based their decision on personal experience. As to applicability of CAM at school, 72.1% thought CAM was applicable, and 78.7% of this group considered alleviation of symptoms and assistance in the treatment process as the reasons for their answer. There were significant differences in responses as to the applicability of CAM according to age (p=.002), work experience (p=.004) and educational background (p=.002). Conclusions: The above results suggest that there is a need to develop a professional education program on complimentary and alternative medicine to assist school health instructorsto plan nursing interventions using CAM which are individualized and practical.
For Korean education to be able to handle increasing knowledge and new values in the 21st century, it needs to change. Korean education needs various teaching methods. At the present, CAI, multimedia, interact video system and computer communication are being used. Compared to the traditional teaching methods, computer-assisted instructions were reported to be more effective. The students’demands for these kind of lessons are adamant and increasing. In this study, an attempt was made to develop “child-development and parent education”using CAI program. This chapter is in high demand for high school students. This study model was developed help the students’understanding and make their learning easier. A lesson plan was proposed using CAI program which was developed by authors with assistance of professional computer programmers. The CAI program includes following curriculum contents:1. Child development, 2. the meaning of parenthood, 3. pregnancy, 4. delivery, 5. abortion. The CAI program was designed to allow students to participated activity in several current issue related with parenthood and aborting problems. This study ultimately aimed to show students moving pictures, animation, vivid photos, and music to motivate them. Another goal was to help the Home Economics teachers give lessons using CAI and to show an example of the teaching model.
The purpose of this study is to predict the roles of public social workers and clarify their job. There were a few studies concerning them, and they suggested that it was needed to reform the delivery system or to supplement personnel. But they were almost normative. This study, based on the literature, analyzed public social workers' daily works to suggest their desirable roles. Generally the job of public social workers consists of two functions. One is income maintenance function, the other is social services function concerned with economically disadvantaged. The result showed that these functions were meshed up to now. Especially, It also showed that although they performed mostly eligibility work related public assistance and general practices, they wanted to perform professional practices. Took into account their working conditions, it seemed to be desirable to clarify their job. Thus, several suggestions based on these results are as follows: First, while eligibility functions are the central aspects of the public social worker's roles, it is needed for them to provide selected access services. Second, if they wanted to perform social services, it would be needed to restrict their roles for case manager and broker.
Now, the proportion of musical was strength in the stage art part to the past considerably as called musical boom. After 1990's, as if it was rise as rise of musical exclusive theater, it was development seriously in Korean musical. But presently, the examined musical product state as the ratio of import musical and creative musical is about 6 to 4 or 7 to 3, it was a inferiority of creative musical in a flood of import musical. So, this study researched for example Kim Kyun Hyoung' writing and Yu Min Suck' production, creative musical 'This is my destiny...' - played by Dept. of multimedia and film, Honam University in september 2007 - this researcher should give much theoretical and substantial assistance to stage costume producer by studying about producing costume of a aria story, a mental state. As I have studied sofar, in designing a stage costume for musical, the overall comprehension of the musical actor's bodies have to be considered. Though performing the manufacture of the really performance work. It is a field that needs various professional knowledge, and only when a musical is produced based on such theories, it will be possible to deliver the theme of the me of the play more effectively, becomes help in the efficiently theatrical costume manufacture realistically and express the various symbolical meanings.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explain the role transition process to nurse case managers (NCMs) for Medical-aid beneficiaries in Korea. Methods: Fourteen NCMs were interviewed regarding their experiences of becoming proficient in the new role of case manger. Data were analyzed through the application of grounded theory. Results: 'Taking root in a barren land' was the core category explaining the role transition process of NCMs. They engaged in four stages: launching, trial and error, proficiency, and wait-and-see stages. NCMs showed not only fear but also passion for case management practice. Despite their passion and effort, NCMs went through a period of trial and error. After becoming skilled, NCMs went through a stage of wait-and-see often because of job insecurity related to temporary position or few opportunities for promotion. Factors influencing NCMs' role transition process included their understanding of client characteristics, belief in case management, and support from their colleagues and families. Conclusion: NCMs experience many challenges in the process of becoming proficient NCMs. To help with their role transition, there is a need for education programs, preceptorship programs, research on their roles and functions, and regulation for securing NCMs' employment and career stability.
This paper addresses a method for customizing an English-to-Korean machine translation system from general domain to patent domain. The customizing method consists of following steps: 1) linguistically studying about characteristics of patent documents, 2) extracting unknown words from large patent documents and constructing large bilingual terminology, 3) extracting and constructing the patent-specific translation patterns 4) customizing the translation engine modules of the existing general MT system according to linguistic study about characteristics of patent documents, and 5) evaluating the accuracy of translation modules and the translation quality. This research was performed under the auspices of the MIC (Ministry of Information and Communication) of Korean government during 2005-2006. The translation accuracy of the customized English-Korean patent translation system is 82.43% on the average in 5 patent fields (machinery, electronics, chemistry, medicine and computer) according to the evaluation of 7 professional human translators. In 2006, the patent MT system started an on-line patent MT service in IPAC (International Patent Assistance Center) under MOCIE (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy) in Korea. In 2007, KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) tries to launch an English-Korean patent MT service.

Purpose: This research was conducted to explore the experience of using Internet to solve health problems and to develope a grounded theory. Method: There were 15 subjects in their 30s who had experience using Internet to solve health problems for themselves and their families. Results: 114 concepts, 31 subcategories, and 9 categories were derived from the analysis by using approaches by Strauss & Corbin. Central phenomenon was "Primary healthcare information" and the core category was "Selecting ways to solve health problems". The participants' experiences were conceptualized into two perspectives: reliability of the information and tendency of preference among the sites. Conclusion: All of the processes found on Internet that solved health problems required the assistance of a health professional such as a nurse. It was judged that there are some differences in the degree of usage regarding health-related information, which was primarily in accordance with the confidence and attitude of the user with respect to Internet information. We presented a strategy that could operate with professionals and nonprofessionals. Therefore, we can be satisfied by the fact that this study suggests a complimentary nursing strategy to the healthcare on Internet.
With rapidly changing modem information technology, the structure of our lifestyle has underwent much changes in our society. The paper explores how information science knowledge can be used systematically in digital, interdisciplinary research settings and gives a conceptual analysis of the relationship between information science knowledge as donor and other research as receiver in an interdisciplinary project environment. The validity of the approach is demonstrated by the author's work on the project "The Primacy of Tense: A. N. Prior Now and Then." The study proposes a hybrid approach, combining analysis and synthesis. The analytical component identifies information systems, assigns an information system type to them, and accesses the information science knowledge associated with that type. The synthetic part focuses on the connections between information systems according to the receiver discipline's practices. The paper makes explicit the actions of experienced information professionals, thereby making their expertise accessible to others. The analytical and synthetic strategies are explained by linking them to two modes of researchers in the receiver discipline, how they act as researchers and what they know about it. The paper offers information professionals concrete assistance with identification of the appropriate strategy for accessing professional knowledge and taking appropriate actions and development decisions.
