A study on the safety improvement and productivity's increase through continuous preventive maintenance. (지속적 계획보전을 통한 생산성 향상 및 안전개선에 대한 연구)

  • This study deals with the procedure of safety improvement, productivity increase, and tact-time reduction through setting up the system about preventive maintenance. Actually, it is hard to establish and carry out preventive maintenance, even though we recognize the importance of the system concerning time, cost, labor, and so forth. In this study in the viewpoint of cost we are for achieving maximum efficiency by change and reduction of planning process adapted to the special work group. At first we briefly will mention the kind, the necessity, and the concept of preventive maintenance, and then divide the equipment used in the assembly line into the two whether it is necessary or not by way of estimating the breakdown loss, comparing with general establishment of preventive maintenance and modifying it to the case. At the second step we will establish the operation system of plan management related to production and quality in the special case. Check period and category will be set by dividing the assembly equipment into LCL and Focus in the third step. The forth step will contain the operation procedure in detail. And then we must make check and repair record periodically. Finally, on the basis of the record the selection of checking of significance will be conducted. This results in safety improvement, tact time reduction, and productivity improvement.

  • Using the Malmquist productivity index, this paper compares the productivity of Korean manufacturing industries from 1999 to 2006. The malmquist productivity index has more advantages than previous methods such as solow model, endogenous growth theory. The malmquist productivity index can be decomposed productivity into two parts. The first part is an index of the technical efficiency change. This index has high value when the elements of production is used more efficiently. The second part is an index of technical change. This index has high value if the advent of new technology and process innovation occur.

  • The diesel engine generate many pollutants such as PM(Particulate matter) and NOx(Nitrogen oxide). So the SCR(Selective catalytic reduction) must be required to meet the emission standard. The SCR catalyst market is growing rapidly, and the automobile markets using alternative energy sources are growing rapidly. This study deals with optimization of the calcination process the manufacturing process of SCR catalyst to be competitive. The calcination process is a bottleneck and it is required to optimize productivity and accept to be safety, But we cannot trade off anything in terms of safety. We applied DOE(Design of experiments) among many research methods performed in various fields. In order to achieve quality and productivity optimization. The dependent variables in the DOE were selected as NO Conversion(%). The independent variables were selected as the calcination temperature, soaking time and fan speed RPM. the CCD(Central composite designs) constructs response surface using the data onto experience and finds optimum levels within the fitted response surfaces. Our tests are our stability guarantee and efficient together with operation.

  • According to the construction environmental changes due to the trend of large scale and complicated building construction, many construction methods(such as : TOPDOWN )are more often used. However, it is pointed out that occupational pulmonary diseases, reduction of the machinery lifetime and productivity caused to be narrow visual field and collision between the workers. Therefore, this study is mainly dealing with the views of productivity and safety improvement in order to improve work efficiency and to insure the safety in underground construction environment.

  • This paper aims to develop a new chain metrics for obtaining lean Overall Equipment Effectiveness(OEE) and present implementation strategy which considers the properties for Total Productive Maintenance(TPM) to reduce machine losses, Performance Analysis and Control(PAC) to reduce labor losses, Lean Production System(LPS) to reduce floor wastes, and Theory of Constraints(TOC) to minimize the problem of Capacity Constrained Resource(CCR). The study reviews the related literatures and reformulates the structure of machine losses, labor losses and field wastes. The research also develops the integrated productivity metrics according to time, units, reliability and maintainability. It is found that the study develops the actual productivity measure in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and standard productivity. In addition to that, it outlines and develops by using the integrated LPS and TPM, lean OEE measures such as Time Based Productivity(TBP), Unit Based Productivity(UBP), and Reliability & Maintainability Based Availability(RMBA). Implication examples are proposed to make it easier and available for practioners to understand the implementation strategies about TPM OEE, lean OEE and TOC OEE. Futhermore related to other studies, the research contributes to create a new chain productivity measures to clear the interrelationship concepts of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Moreover the paper develops the enhanced OEE measures by integration of TPM, PAC, LPS and TOC with the perspective of schedule, throughput, reliability, maintainability and availability.

Development of Adjust Plate Progressive Die (자동차용 Adjust Plate Progressive 금형 개발)

  • A automatic production system was developed for high productivity and safety. The semi-progressive die was unfavorable for more productivity, safety, material extravagance and incongruent high-speed production. Developed progressive die is suitable for the high production and guarantee triple production by acceptance of three array type for automobile adjust plate. We adopt Pro-$Engineer{\circledr}$ for three dimensional computer aided design suitable for the disassembly and assembly evaluation. The conclusion of this study is as follow. First, press die parts solid modeling system is built by using Pro-$Engineer{\circledr}$ through this research and verified allowable tolerance and possibility of assembly and disassembly of parts. Therefore we can reduce die manufacturing time and cost. Second, We produce 1000 units pet hot coil 1ton by traditional method, but we can acomplish material saving effect about 12% as 120 units in case of new progressive die. Fourth, we acomplished manufacturing cost curtailment effect more than 20% in comparison with traditional method.

An Effect Analysis for Productivity Elevation by the System Improvement (시스템 개선에 의한 생산성 향상 효과 분석)

  • The goal of this study is to analyze an effect of productivity elevation. For the goal, the various methods of the productivity elevation were suggested and the system improvements were conducted. The S company was established in Ban-Wol Industrial Complex, Ansan-City, Kyonggi-Do on 2007. The company was hiring 22 employees. The main manufactures were heavy duty equipment parts and the amount of sale was two billion won on 2008. Problems which the company faced were ambiguous production target management and materials loss. To solve the problems, NCT work improvement and automatic welding were induced. There were steel saving of 3,780,000won/month and man-hour saving of 144,000won/month by redesign of the steel sheet for the NCT steel job. Also, changing from handwork to automatic welding, the man-hour saving for the welding job was 320M/H and saving of 4,225,600won/month. The others of systematic improvement for productivity elevation were usage of jig and daily equipment checklist.

Comparative Performance Analysis of Robot-based Automated Construction System Using a Real Scale Test Project

  • A large-scale research project to develop a robot-based automated building construction system for steel structures was successfully conducted in South Korea. This paper discusses the results of the real-scale test and the key lessons gained from the testing process. The system was assessed in terms of system productivity, construction cost, quality control, and safety improvements. While the productivity of the automated system showed an improvement of about 9.5%, the construction cost was about six times higher than that of the conventional method. The field test also indicated that the automated system requires more on-site quality control measures. However, because the system can eliminate the causes of various safety accidents, safety levels might be expected to be improved significantly. It is expected that this paper will provide knowledge and insight for developing new systems, and the results of the real-scale test might be useful for other researchers and similar research projects in the future.
