노인의 생산활동수준 및 관련변수의 분석: 한국과 캐나다 비교 (Analysis of contribution and related factors of the elderly: Comparison between Korea and Canada)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 첫째, 한국노인과 캐나다노인의 생산활동참여수준을 비교,분석하는 것이고, 둘째, 한국노인과 캐나다노인의 생산활동참여와 관계가 있는 요소들을 규명, 비교하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 비교문화적 연구를 위해 두 가지 자료가 사용되었다: 하나는 한국통계청의 1999년 생활시간조사 자료이고, 또 하나는 캐나다통계청의 시간사용조사 자료이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 55세 이상 84세 이하의 총 17,730명의 한국노인과 2,729명의 캐나다노인의 자료가 분석에 사용되었다. 주요연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일반적인 생산활동수준 측면에서 볼 때, 한국노인의 총활동시간이 캐나다노인보다 하루 2시간 정도 더 많았으며, 활동유형별로 나누어 보면, 유급활동시간은 한국노인이 더 많았고, 무급활동시간은 캐나다노인이 더 많았다. 둘째, 본 연구에서 사용된 독립변수 중 가장 강력한 예측변수는 은퇴여부였다. 한국노인의 무급활동시간과의 관계를 제외하고는 모든 표본 집단에서 유의한 관계를 보였는데, 전체적으로 은퇴한 노인들의 무급활동시간은 증가하였고, 무급활동시간은 감소하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 국적과 성별을 불문하고 노인들이 여전히 생산활동에 종사하고 있음을 나타내고 있으며, 이는 특히 활동의 정의가 무급활동을 포함하는 범위까지 확대되는 경우에 그러하다. 즉 유급활동의 끝이 생산적인 삶의 끝은 아님을 알 수 있었다.

근로자의 작업중 신체적활동량과 건강증진행위와의 관계 (A Study on the Relationship between the Amount of Physical Activities at Work Perceived by Workers and Their Health Promotion Behaviors)

  • The purpose of this study is to grasp the relationship between the amount of physical activities at work perceived by workers and their health promotion behaviors. To achieve such a purpose. this survey was conducted on 476 Workers who work for 3 food product work-sites located in Keong-in area by means of questionnaire from June 15 to July 14 . 1998. Collected data were statistically analyzed by SPSS/WlN. The significant results were obtained as follows. 1. The average scores of the amount of physical activities at work and health promotion behavior were 3.18 and 2.84 respectively; the former was slightly higher than moderate score 2.5 and the latter was almost the same as it. It can be interpreted that workers perceive their physical activities at work are heavier than their daily activities, which seems to make their health promotion behaviors still inactivated. 2. The amount of physical activities at work, it was were greater revealed that the more activities workers do after work. the more they walk and the more exercises they do. It implies that the voluntary practice of good health habit at leisure can be greatly contributed to the activation of more productive activity at work. 3. The amount of health promotion behaviors was larger as workers do more physical activities at work and have lower PIBW(Percent Ideal Body Weight). It means that the voluntary practice of good health habit is closely related to the degree of obesity and their positive attitude toward their work. Average PIBW was 106.71; most of the workers are distributed within the standard range in their weight. So we can presume that most of them are not seriously conscious of weight maintenance in their daily lives. Therefore it is desirable that health promotion program for workers should be developed toward connecting their physical activities at work with those in their daily lives much more. 저소득 여성노인과 일반 여성노인의 주관적 건강평가, 건강상태 및 건강증진행위 비교 (A Comparison on Self-rated Health, Health Status, and Health Promotion Behaviors between Low income and Non-low income Elderly Women)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to compare self-rated health, health status, and health promotion behaviors between non-low income and low income elderly women in the urban setting. Method: The subjects of this study consisted of 668 Korean elderly women over 65years. The data was analyzed by the SAS(ver.8.02) computer program, and it included descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, analysis of covariance, pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate logistic regression. Results: 1) The non-low income elderly women had significantly higher scores(self-rated health, health status, and health promotion behavior) than the low income elderly women. 2) In low income elderly women, age, number of children were the main effect factors of health status, and level of education, burden of medical expense were the main effect factors of health promotion behaviors. In non-low income elderly women, number of children was the main effect factors of health status, and level of education, level of pocket money were the main effect factors of health promotion behaviors. Conclusion: This study showed that the establishment of a health care system for elderly according to their social-economic level is very important for providing productive care apposite to the situation of elderly.

An Agent-Based Framework for Investigating Safety-Productivity Tradeoff of Construction Laborers Considering Risk-taking Behavioral Heterogeneity

  • Construction laborers and crews play a critical role in achieving a safe and productive construction site. Many past research studies used top-down approaches/perspectives for studying the impact of laborers' performance on overall construction site outputs with limited flexibility in accounting for laborers' various characteristics. However, the recent reap in computational advances allowed applications of bottom-up architectures, which can potentially incorporate heterogeneous characteristics of laborers' individual behavioral and decision-making features effectively. Accordingly, agent-based modeling (ABM), as a tool to leverage a bottom-up methodological approach, has been widely adopted by recent research. Existing literature investigated the influence of changes in laborers' behaviors and interactions on either construction sites' safety performance or productivity performance individually, leaving the tradeoff between safety and productivity in this context relatively unexplored. Accordingly, this study aims to develop an agent-based framework to study the tradeoff between project safety and productivity performances resulting from changes in laborers' behaviors after attending safety trainings. Our findings via simulations indicate that proper safety trainings can improve safety performance without negatively impacting productivity performance.

  • 근로자들이 흡연과 음주행위를 통해서 주관적으로 느끼는 자신의 업무상 위험판단과 산업재해 발생에 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 실증분석한다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 흡연자는 주관적 업무상 위험성은 높고 객관적 산업재해 발생도 높은 반면, 금연자는 주관적 위험은 높게 평가되지만 산업재해 발생은 낮다. 흡연구역 설치로 인해 흡연근로자들의 주관적 업무위험판단과 산업재해 발생이 하락하는 효과가 있으며, 여성보다 남성 근로자에게 효과가 뚜렷하다. 남성 흡연자들의 인적 네트워크 구축으로 인한 효과가 크게 나타나는 것으로, 사업장 내에 다양한 의사소통의 장치가 마련되어 업무의 위해요소와 산업재해 가능성을 줄일 수 있는 선순환구조가 정착되어야 한다.

The Effect of Contextual Factors on Resistance to Change in Lean Transformation

  • The purpose of this paper is to uncover whether and how contextual factors (information exchange, participation, trust in management, and training), relate to resistance to change. It also explores the mediating effect of perceived impact of change on the relations between contextual factors and resistance to change. This study is conducted in several manufacturing plants in food processing industry in Vietnam, which is implementing a top-down large-scale change - Lean transformation, adopting Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program, to be specific. The findings suggest that all four contextual factors are negatively associated with resistance to change, in which training had the strongest impact. Also, the perceived change impact partially mediates the relationships between the four contextual factors and resistance to change. The practical implications of this paper are that employees who receive adequate, timely and useful information relating to change are less likely to show opposing behaviors towards change. Fostering trust in management among employees, and employee involvement in decision-making, also have a significant influence when addressing employee resistance to change. Employees who are well-trained, well-equipped with tools and knowledge about the change, are less likely to resist as they view the benefits of changes more significant than the risks.

Laying Off Versus Training Workers: How Can Saudi Entrepreneurs Manage the COVID-19 Crisis?

  • This study aims to determine theoretically the best workers layoff/training strategy that entrepreneurs should apply to manage the COVID-19 crisis successfully. It also examines the impacts of the Saudi government's emergency measures on firm performance. The paper develops a theoretical framework in which the optimal control technics is applied to model the entrepreneur's hiring, layoff, and training behaviors. The results show that, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the entrepreneur should first lay off the less productive workers to reduce labor costs. As more and more inefficient workers quit and profit increases, the entrepreneur starts expanding his activity and training workers. In the long run, only the training activity allows the firm efficiency to grow at a constant rate. This finding suggests that the key to long-run economic recovery in Saudi Arabia will rely on training, innovation, and adaptability to the new digital environment. The paper also shows that the Saudi government initiative of covering 60% of salaries for the small- and medium-sized entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic will enhance training activities in small- and medium-sized enterprises and improve their efficiency in both the short and long run. This policy will also prevent Saudi entrepreneurs from laying off half of their staff.

사회적 관계망의 구조적, 기능적 측면과 건강증진행동과의 관계: 지역사회 거주 노인을 중심으로 (Association Between Structural and Functional Aspects of Social Networks and Health Promoting Behaviors: Focusing on Community-Dwelling Older Adults)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 지역사회 노인의 사회적 관계망과 건강증진행동을 파악하고 사회적 관계망의 구조적, 기능적 측면이 건강증진행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 지역사회에 거주하는 65세 이상 노인 226명을 대상으로 사회적 관계망의 구조적, 기능적 측면과 라이프스타일 영역별 건강증진행동을 조사하였다. 사회적 관계망은 비동거 가족, 친인척, 친구, 이웃의 4가지 관계망을 대상으로, 구조적 특성인 관계망 크기와 접촉빈도, 기능적 특성인 사회적 지지를 조사하였다. 일반적 특성에 따른 건강증진행동 정도를 비교하기 위해 독립표본 T검정과 일원배치 분산분석을 실시하였다. 사회적 관계망과 건강증진행동과의 관계를 확인하기 위해 피어슨 상관분석을 실시하였고, 사회적 관계망이 건강증진행동에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 결과 : 사회적 관계망 크기는 친구 관계망에서 가장 높았고 이웃 관계망에서 가장 낮았으며, 접촉빈도와 사회적 지지는 비동거 가족 관계망에서 가장 높았고 이웃 관계망에서 가장 낮았다. 건강증진행동은 일상생활활동 영역에서 가장 높았으며, 생산적·사회적 활동 영역에서 가장 낮았다. 일반적 특성 중 성별, 주관적 경제상태, 주관적 건강상태, 우울수준에 따른 건강증진행동은 유의한 차이를 보였다. 사회적 관계망의 구조적, 기능적 측면의 모든 하위요인들은 건강증진행동과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 위계적 회귀분석 결과 이웃의 사회적 지지가 노인의 건강증진행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났고, 일반적 특성 중 성별, 우울도 영향요인으로 나타났으며 이 모델은 37%의 설명력을 보였다. 결론 : 지역사회 노인의 건강증진행동 촉진을 위해서는 이웃의 사회적 지지를 중심으로 사회적 관계망을 고려한 건강증진 프로그램의 개발 및 관련 정책이 요구된다.

A Review on Transfer Process of Two-dimensional Materials

  • Large-area two-dimensional (2D) materials synthesized by chemical vapor deposition on donor substrates are promising functional materials for conductors, semiconductors, and insulators in flexible and transparent devices. In most cases, 2D materials should be transferred from a donor substrate to a target substrate; however, 2D materials are prone to damage during the transfer process. The damages to 2D materials during transfer are caused by contamination, tearing, and chemical doping. For the commercialization of 2D materials, a damage-free, large-area, and productive transfer process is needed. However, a transfer process that meets all three requirements has yet to be developed. In this paper, we review the recent progress in the development of transfer processes for 2D materials, and discuss the principles, advantages, and limitations of each process. The future prospects of transfer processes are also discussed. To simplify the discussion, the transfer processes are classified into four categories: wet transfer, dry transfer, mechanical transfer, and electro-chemical transfer. Finally, the "roll-to-roll" and "roll-to-plate" dry transfer process is proposed as the most promising method for the commercialization of 2D materials. Moreover, for successful dry transfer of 2D materials, it is necessary to clearly understand the adhesion properties, viscoelastic behaviors, and mechanical deformation of the transfer film used as a medium in the transfer process.

정보환경의 변화와 대학도서관의 발전방향 (Changing information environment and academic libraries)

  • Information technology will inevitably and profoundly alter every aspect of university life. New information technologies are creating new patterns in the research and teaching, with networks enhancing information sharing and data transmission. The revolution in information technology requires that universities integrate information technology with their traditional missions of teaching, research, and public service. Enhanced mode of information access and changing information-seeking behaviors suggest the need for new library services. New technologies have opened up many new services options for libraries. The nature of and potential for new information services suggest that libraries should become better connected with other campus units. Some of these issues will no doubt be addressed by the a n.0, pplication of new technologies and by building campus information infrastructure. An important element of the needed change for enhancing the library information services is the integration of the libraries and computing centers. Libraries and computing centers deal with the same commodity-information and delivering information. For the sake of scholarship and research, the two must devise an integrated a n.0, pproach to delivering the common commodity. Computing centers have special skills in system development and telecommunications. Libraries have good human interface skills and skills for organizing knowledge. Together they could be a particularly productive team. Noting this, some universities have created new information service units which unify the present-day computing, library and telecommunication functions. Existing models range from true merging to situations where some cooperative activities are being conducted. The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction in developing of information services in academic libraries by examining the changing information environment and trends of integrating libraries and computing centers. This paper inquires into the changing information environment, the impact of imformation technology on universities and libraries, some casses of integration of academic libraries and computing centers, and effects of integration of two and suggests the developing direction of information services in academic libraries.
