광학센서를 이용한 알약계수기의 계수알고리즘 향상에 관한 연구 (Research for enhanced counting algorithm of optical pill counting machine)

  • It is fundamental to count and pack the pills in the medicine manufacture field but those tasks are time and labor consuming. Thus, the need fur automation of those tasks is necessarily getting increased in order to get effective mass production. It Is significant to perceive pills quickly and precisely. There were many trials for this processing but the performance of the existing counting machines varies about size, shape and dispersion tendency of pills. In this paper, the authors try to improve the counting performance of a pill counting machine that has optical sensors with the neural network. The passing signal of pill is acquired with optical sensor and the passage signal of the pill is extracted as input patterns. The gradient and integration of signal during passing time and the time keeping the pill interrupt the light from the LED are used as characteristic feature. The back propagation and perception algorithm are used for training. Experimental results with several pills show that the designed algorithm is a little bit effective to reduce the noise effect which is generated from interference among the machine components and unreliable environment.

서울말 /ㅗ/와 /ㅜ/를 구별하는 음향변수 (Acoustic parameters that differentiate /o/ from /u/ in Seoul Korean)

  • Earlier studies reported that the /o/ and /u/ phonemes of Seoul Korean were currently merging in the F1/F2 space. However, studies on perception tests have shown that rates of correctness were high, even in cases where the two vowels overlapped. This study explores whether there is another acoustic parameter that differentiates /o/ from /u/, besides the F1/F2 contrast. Seventy-five native speakers of Seoul Korean, born between 1953 and 1999, participated in a production test. The data collected were analyzed in terms of F1 and F2, H1-H2, and F0. The result shows that the /o/ and /u/ of female speakers almost overlap in the F1/F2 space for all ages, while H1-H2 values are significantly different between the two vowels regardless of age. On the other hand, the /o/ and /u/ of male speakers are largely well separated in the F1/F2 space, while the H1-H2 values between the two vowels are very close at all ages. F0 effect is relatively small for both male and female speakers, even though there is a statistically significant difference. The result of this study provides evidence that female speakers use phonation differences to distinguish /o/ from /u/, and that the F1/F2 contrast has been replaced by H1-H2 values.

An Overview of Meat Industry in Sri Lanka: A Comprehensive Review

  • Livestock is considered as one of the most important segments in agriculture since animal husbandry was practiced for centuries as a backyard system by rural families. Livestock plays as a powerful tool in rural development where meat industry contributes a dominant part. Meat and meat products become a vital component in the diet, which had been one of the main protein sources traditionally as well. The development in the livestock and meat industry of Sri Lanka basically depends upon religious, cultural, and economic factors. There is a growing demand for processed meat products in Sri Lankan urban culture and several large scale processors entered the business during the past few decades. The consumption of meat and meat products shows an upward trend in Sri Lanka during the last decade and is anticipated to increase further in future. The growth potential of the local meat industry is considerably high owing to the improvement of the market and consumer perception. The present status, trends, and future prospects for the Sri Lankan meat industry with respect to production, consumption, processing, marketing, and improvement are discussed in this review.

Enhancing the Awareness of Decentralized Cooperative Mobile Robots through Active Perceptual Anchoring

  • In this paper, we describe a system for controlling the perceptual processes of two cooperative mobile robots that addresses the issue of enhancing perceptual awareness. We define awareness here as knowing the location of other robots in the environment. The proposed system benefits from a formalism called perceptual anchoring. Here, perceptual anchoring enhances the awareness of the system by employing an anchor-based active gaze control strategy or active perceptual anchoring to control the perceptual effort according to what is important at a given time. By anchoring we extend the notion of awareness as knowing what the symbols in the control module represent to by connecting them to the objects or features in the environment. We demonstrate the present system through a simulation of two nonholonomic mobile robots performing a cooperative transportation by carrying a cargo to a target location where there are two other robots moving about. The system is able to efficiently focus the perceptual effort and thus able to safely carry the cargo to the target position.

모피의류의 편익과 위험 지각이 구매의도에 미치는 영향과 소비자 감정의 다중 매개효과 (Effects of Benefits and Risk Perception on Purchase Intention for Fur Apparel: A Multiple Mediation Model of Consumer Emotions)

  • Fur apparel is a representative luxury item that displays wealth and social status; however, it is also recognized as an unethical product criticized for its animal maltreatment in the production process. Understanding consumer responses to an ambivalent object, such as fur apparel, is an important research topic both academically and practically. This study investigates the hierarchical effects of perceived benefits and risks of fur apparel on consumers' emotions and purchase intention by applying the ABC model of attitudes to identify the mediating effects of consumer emotions. An online survey was conducted on 390 female consumers that verified hypotheses through structural equation modeling and bootstrapping analysis using phantom variables. The initial results of the survey showed that the relationship between perceived conspicuous benefits and purchase intention towards fur apparel was partially mediated by positive emotion. Second, the relationship between perceived epistemic benefits and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive emotion. Third, the relationship between perceived ethical risk and purchase intention was completely mediated by positive and negative emotions. Fourth, perceived social risk did not affect the purchase intention of fur apparel significantly. The results support that cognitive beliefs about the subject have a significant positive effect on behavioral intentions through emotions as suggested in the ABC model of the attitude. This study provides an in-depth understanding of consumer responses to ambivalent objects by revealing the individual mediating effects of consumers' positive and negative emotions.

근대주의 이후의 건축 공간의 변모 (A Study on the Architectural Space After Modernism)

  • The main purpose of this study is to reveal the properties and specialities of architectural space after Modernism. Space was the main theme of Modernity in architecture and they insist Modern architectural space had its own characteristics compared with the earlier period. With view that another paradigm of space is rising as a criticism of and departure from Modernity, this study try to show what is the contents of difference and how it express in reality. We can find a new trends in architectural spaces, that are the production of totally different circumstantial background as like information society, digital media environment, post structuralism, new science and heterotopian situation in urbanism. We can call it Post Modernity in architectural space that would find the 'Otheness' and expand the territory of architecture. It means not only the change of architectural space itself but also different cognition and perception of space is taking place. Contemporaru architectural space has lost its materiality and conventional socio-cultural functions. Dematerialization and media or image -like being is the new characteristics instead. It demands a new way of being in a different life-world as well as the new expenence of architecture.

The Interlanguage Speech Intelligibility Benefit for Listeners (ISIB-L): The Case of English Liquids

  • This study attempts to investigate the interlanguage speech intelligibility benefit for listeners (ISIB-L), examining Chinese talkers' production of English liquids and its perception of native listeners and non-native Chinese and Korean listeners. An Accent Judgment Task was conducted to measure non-native talkers' and listeners' phonological proficiency, and two levels of proficiency groups (high and low) participated in the experiment. The English liquids /l/ and /r/ produced by Chinese talkers were considered in terms of positions (syllable initial and final), contexts (segment, word and sentence) and lexical density (minimal vs. nonminimal pair) to see if these factors play a role in ISIIB-L. Results showed that both matched and mismatched interlanguage speech intelligibility benefit for listeners occurred except for the initial /l/. Non-native Chinese and Korean listeners, though only with high proficiency, were more accurate at identifying initial /r/, final /l/ and final /r/, but initial /l/ was significantly more intelligible to native listeners than non-native listeners. There was evidence of contextual and lexical density effects on ISIB-L. No ISIB-L was demonstrated in sentence context, but both matched and mismatched ISIB-L was observed in word context; this finding held true for only high proficiency listeners. Listeners recognized the targets better in the non-minimal pair (sparse density) environment than the minimal pair (higher density) environment. These findings suggest that ISIB-L for English liquids is influenced by talkers' and listeners' proficiency, syllable position in association with L1 and L2 phonological structure, context, and word neighborhood density.

농지전용 주변지역의 주민인식 분석 - 봉동읍 4개 리를 중심으로 - (Analysis on Local Residents' Recognition of Farmland Conversion - Focused on Four Ris (Villages) of Bongdong Eup -)

  • This study analyzed the recognition of local residents surrounding farmland conversion area. The details of the survey on the residents included recognition of farmland conversion, the usage and reason of farmland conversion in the surrounding area, impacts of farmland conversion on the local region and agricultural production, and change in farmland prices. According to the analysis, the aging of the local residents progressed, and the ratio of farming population was high in the case study area. There were many warehouse facilities and small scale factories in terms of farmland conversion in the case study area, due to the surrounding area characteristics of industrial complex and relatively cheaper land prices. The farmland conversion affected the local area and residents both positively and negatively, and the surrounding area's land prices rose. The policy implications, based on the findings in this study, indicate the following need to be carried out: the consolidation of action on farmland pollution upon farmland conversion, review of planned collective conversion mode, and return of the land price hike profits to the affected local area and residents. Actually, farmland conversion should be conducted, after a comprehensive and systematic review, because it affects the local area and residents in a complex way.

빌릿 마킹 공정의 자동화를 위한 마킹 위치 인식 방법 (Perception Method of the Marking Location for Automation of Billet Marking Processes)

  • The machine vision has been applied to a number of industrial applications for quality control and automations to improve the manufacturing processes. In this paper, the automation system using the machine vision is developed, which is applicable to the marking process in a steel production process line. The working environment is very harsh to workers so that the automatic system in the steel industry is required increasingly. The developed automatic marking system consists of several mechanical and electrical elements such as the laser position detecting sensor system fur a structured laser beam which is projected to the billet in order to detect the geometry of the billet. An image processing algorithm has been developed to percept the two center positions of a camera and a billet, respectively, and to align two centers. A series of experiments has been conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that two centers of the camera and the billet could be detected very well and differences between two center positions could be also decreased via the proposed location error decreasing algorithm.

중ㆍ고등학교 급식종사자들의 위생관련 업무 수행도 분석 (Foodservice employees′ Sanitation and Hygiene Practice in School Foodservice)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop methods for foodservice employees to perform by measuring their levels of sanitation and hygiene practices. The employees' sanitation and hygiene competency list for school foodservice was developed on the basis of the job standardization. The competency list was divided into three parts; (1) before starting the work, (2) during the work and (3) after the work. The levels of the employees' sanitation and hygiene practices were evaluated by dietitians and by the employees themselves. Most schools had conventional foodservice systems (83.4%), which were operated by contract management (94.8%). It was found that the highest practice level related to sanitation and hygiene before starting work, with the lowest levels observed after work. The item related to the cleaning and sanitizing of dishes had the lowest practice level score. Employees perceived their sanitation and hygiene practice after work to be worse than before starting and during work. The items of ″Clean and sanitize all large stationary equipment after every use, and record equipment monitoring chart″ and ″Do not clean dishes and utensils in production area″ had the lowest scores by employees. The scores of the employees were similar to the perception of the dietitians.
