The study examines the similarities of competitive strategy between fashion industry and high-tech industry through a case study of a Japanese maker. From the study, some implications are drawn for the Korean fashion industry. It is hoped that this, will help towards establishing a suitable competitive strategy for firms in this industry. In the fashion industry, the product life cycle is so short as to prompt a new product obsolete too quickly, and the extent of product differentiation is remarkably extensive compared to any other industry. Generally speaking, firms in this industry focus more of their resources on product development and marketing rattler than on production and they attempt to maneuver the speed when they are required to enhance their competitive edge. This is enabled through being, as one might expect, information- and technology- intensive as are high-tech industries. In this sense, that of the competitive strategy of a firm in fashion industry to be similar to high-tech industry. The Japanese firm Y has transformed itself a leading firm in fashion uniform segment. The firm could achieve this status by integrating each function needed for creating customer*s value, that is, product development, production and marketing within one Quick Response System. For this purpose, Y introduced a bundle of high-tech communication systems such as SPD, SDS, ATOM, NICS and so on. In this sense it can be said that Y was aware of what sort of competitive strategy was required in the industry. Implications for Korean firms is that, first, the magnitude of understanding the industry specific factors in establishing competitive strategy in the fashion industry, are speed, flexibility and systematic integration supported by high technology which are characteristic of high-tech industries. Secondly, as can be seen in the fact that Y emphasized logistics in its technological transformation, the significance of logistics control is a key to manipulating speed and flexibility in the industry. To sum up, those who have insight into above findings will be likely to keep their competitiveness in the industry not only in the Korean market but also in global market in the near future.

Global sourcing strategy is the one that apparel firms adopt in order to improve efficiency. Souring statesgies are not limited to the decision of sourcing country or vertical integration of sewing process Sourcing strategies include all the ecision of marketing process from the acquisition of fabric to distribution of products. The present study aims to analyze the soucing strategies of Korea apparel industry in global perspectives by applying transaction cost approach and aims to provide the implications for the future. The results are as follows ; (1) sourcing strategies in the dimension of domestic versus offshore soucing are determined by the experience in foreign business and the degree of fashionability of the product. (2) Firms tend to increase affshore soucing as they accumulate the experience in foreign business because they can decrease transaction costs as the perceived risks decrease (3) Also firms tend to source their products in foreign countries when the products are more fashionable. Brand loyalty of the product is a additional factor that increases the proportion of domestic sourcing. (4) Degree of vertical integration of sourcing is determined by the fashionability brand loyalty and the experience in foreign business. That is firms decrease the transaction costs by avoiding the investment to short life fashion products. However firms increase the control over the high reputation product by in house production. As the apparel firms tend to more marketing oriented and the national boundaries of business envrionment becomes permeable more efficient global sourcing strategies should be stablished, Besides the production costs nonproduction costs should be equallly considered in order to analyze the total costs.

Total Quality Management (TQM) is the aggregated management philosophy for quality including production, operation, human resource, leadership, marketing, and etc. TQM is the advanced concept and philosophy rather than traditional "Quality Control" or "Quality Assurance". Nowadays, downstream costs has been increased, that made cost accountants' attention to costs of quality. Many countries have developed their own quality awards system in order to improve overall national quality level. The Deming Prize of Japan and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) of United States are two representatives of quality prizes. We compared the two awards by means of their history, objective, coverage, and judging criteria. Deming Prize has a longer history than MBNQA. Deming Prize selects five winners a year, while MBNQA has two or three areas. The biggest difference is judgement criteria. The Deming Prizes focuses on statistical control which is a traditional quality control method, while MBNQA concentrates on modem business concept such as customer satisfaction. The suggestions to these awards are: evaluate more on information of quality; evaluate more on inter-functional relationship between quality control function and other link more financial success.e financial success.

Today's size of production operations in the packaging paper sector I sconstantly increasing , featuring integral processing systems, high-speed paper machines, and the increased marketing of lower basis weight products. The risk factors involved in these large investments lie more than ever in the available furnish potential and ongoing requirements for further closure of water loops and lower operating costs. A comparison is drawn between recovered paper furnish mixtures used in European mills with regard to fibre properties, strength potential and contaminant content, Both the furnish situation and development trends in modern fluting and testliner machines are instigating concept changes in stock preparation, the approach flow as well as in process water and rejects technology. Developments are currently focussed for example on more efficient debris separation using fine slotted screening, optimized refining , more systematic process water management with loop separation and integral water clarification as well as more efficient removal of microstickies, fillers and fines through appropriate combination of rejects handling and water clarification processes. Product quality differentiation depends decisively on strength characteristics as a function of refining , fines removal , paper machine technology, and sizing . Maximum availability of today's high speed paper machines and , as a result, cost effective production can be ensured by optimum balancing of all subsystems with in the overall concept and by reliable control of problems with contaminants and deposits.
This study was mainly done by factors analyzing to find out the structure and the dimension of the results of a previous study; analyzing the school and hospital dietitians'human attributes needed for successful job performance(Song 1998). The results were as follows: 1) Through factor analysis, the 12 knowledge items were categorized into 4 groups ; ‘basic knowledge of food and nutrition’, ‘knowledge of clinical nutrition and diet therapy’, ‘knowledge of medial science’, and ‘knowledge from experience and common sense’. These 4 knowledge factors were more frequently used and importantly recognized by hospital dietians compared with school dietitians. 2) The 38 skill and ability items were categorized into 7 groups ; ‘ability of program development and research’, ‘ability of counseling and nutrition education’, ‘ability of production control and facility management’, ‘ability to use computer’, ‘ability to cooperate with others’, ‘ability to manage consignment marketing’, and ‘ability of managing situations and informations’. Different skills and abilities were required for each group. 3) The 11 personality items were categorized as 3 groups ; ‘respoinsibility and sincerity’, ‘positive personality’, and ‘affirmative and inquisitive personality’.

Geographical indications are signs which identify a good as originating in the territory of a specific country, region, or locality, where the quality, reputation or other characteristics of the product is essentially attributable to its geographical origin. Korea has implemented geographical indication system through its Agricultural Product Quality Control Act since 1999. This research analyzes the impacts and implications of geographical indications on a particular cultural industry in a region using a case study of Boseong green tea which is the first product that was officially registered as a geographical indication in Korea. The results show that the geographical indication has contributed to the promotion of green tea industry in Boseong not only through increase of production but also through development of tourism. The implication is that a geographical indication can be used as an effective method to cope with trade liberalization in terms of agricultural policy. Another implication is that a geographical indication provides an efficient tool for place marketing.

Concurrent Engineering(CE) can provide a competitive edge for companies that have confronted with rapidly changing market requirements, such as shortening of product life cycles, high quality, low cost, diversity of customer demand, and so on. We construct a prototype of integrated information system to support a new product development process by CE concept. This integrated information system can be useful for considering concurrently all of the aspect in the product design process. In this system, an Engineering Database is constructed for gathering data of four departments; i.e. marketing, production, quality control and design department. Also DFM(Design For Manufacturability) is applied for analysis of product design.

This research was conducted to develop a technology transfer and farmer's extension of newly released technology of Bokto seeding method for crop and vegetable production based on the theory of Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology(APCTT). This technology has recently transferred to not only Korea but also other countries like North Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Russia and Africa(Cameroon, Sudan and South Africa) since 2005. It has known as a highly reduction of production cost in terms of labors, chemical fertilizer and pesticides as well as environmental friendly due to a deep and side banded placement of chemical fertilizer at basal application. In addition this technology was proven to a precision farming on sowing depth and mechanism of chemical application method and also highly resistant against disasters like typhoon, flooding, low temperature, drought and lodging due to silicate application. It has improved a constraints such as a poor seedling establishment, weed occurrence, lodging, low yield and poor grain and eating quality in the previous direct seeding methods but still have a problem in occurrence of weedy rice and ununiformed operation of wet or flooded soil condition. Also this technology has a limit in marketing and A/S system. Based on a theory of APCTT evaluation and analysis this technology may be more concentrated on establishment of a special cooperation team among researcher and scientists, extension workers, industry sections and governmental sectors in order to rapidly transfer this technology to farmer's field. Also there will be needed to operate a web site for this newly released technology to inform and exchange an idea, experiences and newly improved information. A feed back system might be operated in this technology as well to improve a technology under way on users' operation. Also user's manual will be internationally released and provided for farmer's instruction and training at field site.

This study analyzed the effects of information orientation and technology commercialization ability on technological performance of corporate workers. Information Orientation consisted of information technology capability, information management ability, information behavior and value, and technology commercialization capability consisted of productization capability, production capability, and marketing capability as sub-variables, and technology accumulation capacity was used as a coordinating variable. An empirical analysis was performed on 349 online and offline questionnaires collected from corporate employees. Analysis results using SPSS v22.0 and Process macro v3.4 First, information orientation and technical performance were found to have a significant effect. In addition, information orientation had a significant effect on technology commercialization capability. The magnitude of the influence on the productive capacity and the productive capacity in the variable of competency was in the order of information technology ability, information management ability, information behavior and value, but the influence on marketing capability was different from the previous results. Information management ability and information technology ability were in order. Second, the product commercialization capability, production capability, and marketing ability of technology commercialization ability had a significant effect on technology performance independently of information orientation. Third, the information technology ability and information management ability had a significant influence on the technical performance, but the indirect effect through the commercialization ability and marketing ability in information behavior and value was significant, the indirect effect of transit was not significant. Fourth, only the interaction terms of production capacity and technology accumulation capacity were significant among the sub-variables of technology commercialization capacity, and technology accumulation capacity, commercialization capacity, and marketing ability were not significant. Therefore, the relationship between productive capacity and technological performance can be interpreted as lower in firms with high technology accumulating ability than in lower firms, subsequent studies will require the introduction of other independent variables, models through the introduction of parameters and control variables.
