The principal objective of this study was to develop a standardized recipe for the large-scale production of Salbob and Ogokbob. The recipe was standardized as follows: we collected and recorded the amount of ingredients and production procedures currently being used by cooks in the contracted foodservice management company and hotel-based Korean restaurants. According to the food preferences of Koreans, we selected 2 kinds of rice; Salbob and Ogokbob. We developed a revised recipe and an evaluation form. We conducted a sensory evaluation with 30 panels, using a JAR (just-about-right) scale. We developed a standardized recipe for both kinds of rice. Yield, portion size, temperature, preparation time, equipment, cost, ingredients, weight of ingredients, method, and critical point were all components accounted for in the developed recipe. The factor method and the percentage method were proposed techniques for adjusting the recipe, and a direct measurement table for Salbob and Ogokbob was also devised.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality of dehulled soybean (DHSB), and the rapid preparation possibility of soybean milk with DHSB (SM-DHSB), and then the quality of SM-DHSB. In DHSB, the moisture content decreased, the crude protein, crude fat, minerals, and carbohydrate contents increased, and the isoflavone (daidzein, genistein and glycitein) content was similar to that of soybean (SB). The water absorption rate of DHSB for soybean milk preparation was higher than that of SB. In the results of SM-DHSB and soybean milk (SM) qualities, the crude protein content, total solid content, and the viscosity of SM-DHSB were higher, the yield and the proximate composition (except crude protein) were similar, and the Biji production rate, and total dietary fiber content of SM-DHSB were lower compared to the SM. In terms of the isoflavone contents of SM-DHSB, daidzein and genistein content were similar, and glycitein content was lower compared with the SM. Consequently, these results suggest the possible use of DHSB for rapid SM-DHSB preparation, because the soaking time was decreased by the high water absorption rate of DHSB in the SM preparation, and the quality of SM-DHSB improved compared to those of the SM.
This study was carried out to investigate the status of hoof diseases and to develope treatment method for cattle with hoof diseases during the period of January to December in 2000. Out of 435 heads, 34 heads(7.8%) had hoof diseases. In respect to season, incidence rate was higher in August to September than that of other seasons. The incidence rates of hoof rot, pododermatitis verrucosae, laminitis, other cases and trauma were 14 cases(41%), 10 cases (29%), 7 cases(21%), 2 cases(6%) and 1 case(3%), respectively. In respect to age and milk production, Incidence rate was higher in the cattle with high milk production. Incidence rate of hoof diseases on the hind-limbs was higher than that of the fore-limbs. E. coli(8 strains), Clostridium spp(8 strains), Staphylococcus spp(6 strains), Fusobacterium spp(6 strains), and Bacteroides spp(6 strains) were isolated from the hoof lesions. All isolates were sensitive to composite preparation made of mainly formalin with picric acid and phenol. (Treatment against each strains isolated was sensitive to composite preparation made out of the main constitutions of formalin with picric acid and phenol).
The food and nutrition system is a network of processes linking agriculture, food, eating, nutrition, and health. The system includes a series of nine stages (production, processing, distribution, acquisition, preparation, consumption, digestion, transport, and utilization) and two types of contexts (biophysical and sociocultural). Analysis of whole food and nutrition systems provides information about the structure and processes involved in the complete scope of food and nutrition, assisting in the identification of ″upstream″ influences and ″downstream″ consequences in the system. The current analysis gathered existing data about the food and nutrition system in South Korea from public sources and professional publications, and interpreted that information to consider how different elements of the system contribute to health. The findings revealed that South Korea has substantial domestic food production and processing supplemented by imports, widespread food distribution in markets and a growing number of Korean and Western restaurants, a relatively low percentage of household income spent on food, growing use of new food preparation methods such as microwave ovens, a rice/vegetable/fish based three-meal consumption pattern, few recorded digestive problems, increasing calorie storage as body fat, and a relatively low chronic disease prevalence compared to other developed societies. Examination of the full scope of the food and nutrition system provides a broad perspective using whole system thinking that can identify potential strategies for future research and intervention.
The current experiment was designed to evaluate the efficacy of adding the multi-enzyme mixture (Natuzyme) into layers' diets with different levels of energy and available phosphorus in relation to laying performance, egg qualities, blood cholesterol level, microflora and intestinal viscosity. Two hundred and fifty 43-wk-old Hy-Line commercial layers were divided into five groups with five replicates per group (10 birds per replicate) and fed one of five experimental diets. A corn and soybean meal-based control diet was formulated and used as a control diet. Two experimental control diets were formulated to reduce energy and crude protein contents (rE) or energy, crude protein and phosphorus contents (rEP). In addition, Natuzyme was added into either rE (rE-Natu500) or rEP (rEP-Natu500) diet to reach a concentration of 500 mg per kg of diet. The experiment lasted 8 weeks. There were no significant differences in feed intake, egg production, egg weight, egg qualities such as eggshell color or Haugh unit, total cholesterol, relative organ weights and cecal microflora profiles between any dietary treatments. Natu500 supplementation into the rE diet, but not rEP diet significantly increased egg mass and eggshell qualities such as strength and thickness, but it decreased cecal ammonia concentration and intestinal viscosity in laying hens. In conclusion, the present study shows that adding multiple enzyme preparation could improve performance of laying hens fed energy and protein restricted diets.

Objective: Feed additives that modify rumen fermentation can be used to prevent metabolic disturbances such as acidosis and optimize beef cattle production. The study evaluated the effects of liquid and powdered forms of polyclonal antibody preparation (PAP) against Streptococcus bovis and Fusobacterium necrophorum on rumen fermentation parameters in ruminally cannulated non-lactating dairy cows that were adapted or unadapted to a high concentrate diet. Methods: A double 3×3 Latin square design was used with three PAP treatments (control, powdered, and liquid PAP) and two adaptation protocols (adapted, unadapted; applied to the square). Adapted animals were transitioned for 2 weeks from an all-forage to an 80% concentrate diet, while unadapted animals were switched abruptly. Results: Interactions between sampling time and adaptation were observed; 12 h after feeding, the adapted group had lower ruminal pH and greater total short chain fatty acid concentrations than the unadapted group, while the opposite was observed after 24 h. Acetate:propionate ratio, molar proportion of butyrate and ammonia nitrogen concentration were generally greater in adapted than unadapted cattle up to 36 h after feeding. Adaptation promoted 3.5 times the number of Entodinium protozoa but copy numbers of Streptococcus bovis and Fibrobacter succinogens genes in rumen fluid were not affected. However, neither liquid nor powdered forms of PAP altered rumen acidosis variables in adapted or unadapted animals. Conclusion: Adaptation of cattle to highly fermentable carbohydrate diets promoted a more stable ruminal environment, but PAP was not effective in this study in which no animal experienced acute or sub-acute rumen acidosis.
This study is to propose an 'education-training-certificate of qualification' design of fashion accessories production, which can be applied to education in universities and individuals. It is based on the National Competency Standards (NCS), which was developed through the '2013 National Competency Standards Development Project' for the fashion accessories production. FGI (Focus Group Interviews), which is a research methodology, is carried out on target groups of educational experts and specialists in the field of fashion accessories production. Through this, five courses were suggested; first, 'fashion accessories design' course was proposed for the education and training of 'design development' and 'development of raw materials'. Secondly, 'fashion product production' course was proposed for the education and training of 'production of samples'. Thirdly, 'fashion product manufacture and planning' course was proposed for the competency element units: 'calculation of cost', 'determination of mass production model and price', 'planning of the main manufacturing process' and 'ordering of raw materials'. Lastly, 'mass production of fashion products' course and the 'field practice of fashion product manufacture' course were proposed for the competency element units: 'planning for mass production', 'preparation for mass production', 'mass production' and 'inspection of completed products'. In addition, a new certificate of 'technician of fashion accessory production' was proposed in order to test qualified skills for the fashion accessories production. The test is composed of a written examination of short-answer questions, technical drawing and production.
Objectives This study was conducted to investigate the management status of extramural herbal dispensary facility, which could serve as a foundation for further research and policy establishment.Method According to herbal dispensary data collected by Ministry of Health and Welfare, 78 sites were confirmed among 1,160 sites which checked extramural herbal dispensary facility. We carried out a survey on them. The survey consisted of 42 questions including general provisions, personnel management, spaces and facilities, equipment and utensils, procedure requirement for production and/or processing. Results From their responses, hygiene was regarded generally admittable. In personnel management, some answers that herbal medicines were prepared not by Korean medicine doctor or pharmacist, but by general worker. On preparation method, dosage frequency and volume were different among preparation facilities. Regarding facility management, prescription inspection was substantially carried out in many extramural preparation facilities, however, some of them was not. Conclusion There was a need for regulation of detailed management including facility, preparation, personnel management, etc., of extramural preparation facility. Furthermore, There was also a need for standardization of procedure on decoction, water management, medicinal herbs management, etc.

This study presents the evaluation of sample extraction and purification procedure for the determination of residues of febantel and its metabolites, fenbendazole, oxfendazole and oxfendazole sulfone in rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli) muscle using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Residues of febantel and its metabolites in rockfish muscle were analyzed using each different sample preparation method from Korean Food Standards Codex (KFSC), Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS, USA), and the modified FSIS method using QuEChERS kit (FSIS-Q), respectively. Each method was compared for mean recoveries and repeatabilities. Since FSIS-Q showed higher repeatabilities (coefficient of variation, CV of 2.4%~10.9%) than those of FSIS method (CV of 4.6%~17.5%), recoveries from FSIS-Q were compared with those from KFSC method. FSIS-Q showed significantly higher recoveries of 83.1%~110.1% (P < 0.05) than those from KFSC method of 64.7%~107.4%. In addition, FSIS-Q showed a good linearity over the range of 2.5~200 ㎍/kg, and excellent sensitivities with limit of detection of 0.46~0.71 ㎍/kg and limit of quantification of 1.08~2.15 ㎍/kg. Although all the sample preparation methods turned out to be able to meet CODEX guideline for all the compounds, FSIS method and FSIS-Q validated in this study could be applied to screening and quantification for residues of febantel and its metabolites in rockfish muscle with efficient preparation procedures.
