FDB(Feature DataBase) attributes have been produced by using the resource data prior to the year 2002. Due to this reason, the attributes need to be updated to the up-to-date ones. In this regards, this study focuses on the way of finding areas whose attributes need to be updated. Forest and crop classes were chosen as target classes among FDB features. MODIS Landcover data and FDB are, first, compared to detect the changed forest and crop areas from 2001 to 2008. Then, vegetation vitality changes are analyzed using MODIS annual NDVI data. Based on the change detection and the vegetation vitality analysis, the index of area selection for updating FDB attributes is proposed in this study.

A study was conducted to develop a better classification method of Consumer Attributes that can enhance user-centered product design process. A modified QFD(Quality Function Deployment) survey form based upon Fuzzy set theory was proposed which contains 9 steps of importance level, and Certainty and Necessity function to improve the reliability of extracted consumer attributes. To verify the betterment and advantage of proposed classification method, a series of questionnaire survey was performed. Thirty male and 30 female university students were participated in the survey using a VCR as a target product. The result of the study showed that 80% of subjects were preferred the proposed classification over existing method. A cluster analysis was performed to further verify the betterment of the proposed method. The result also supported that the proposed classification method is more reliable and enhanced method in extracting consumer attributes and can be applied in the product design.
This study explores the attributes of the color cosmetic products and prices, and their effects on the brand trust. In doing so, our sample population has been segmented according to their lifestyle on color cosmetic to understand the group differences. Based on the previous researches, we have chosen four important characteristics of the customer's lifestyle. The number of iteration on factor analysis revealed that our sample population can be formed into three different groups. The significant group differences resulted on the following study variables; the product functionality, the product fragrance/color, the product vessel design, the price value, the price information, the price rationality. Also, from the product aspect, the product functionality, the product fragrance/color, the product vessel design, explained the significant portion of the Y variance. While, on the aspect of price, the value, the rationality, and information in order, significantly contributed on the brand trust.
This study investigates the impact of fashion product attributes and mobile shopping mall attributes on impulse buying behavior and mobile shopping satisfaction. The findings provide new information to marketers on marketing strategy for mobile shopping malls. We obtained 283 usable questionnaires from college students. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis using SPSS for Window 21.0 and confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis by AMOS 21.0. The results were as follows. The utility of fashion products attributes had the greatest impact on impulse buying behavior when buying fashion products in a mobile mall. Utility had a negative effect on impulsive buying behavior and exhibitionistic had a positive effect on impulsive buying behavior. Next, continuous management of mobile shopping mall attributes influenced impulse buying behavior. In addition, impulse buying behavior showed that the positive effect on satisfaction. Fashion product attributes had a greater impact on impulsive buying behavior than mobile mall properties when buying fashion products in the mobile mall; in addition, impulse buying facilitated customer satisfaction.
In this paper, we draw upon Task-Technology Fit theory to investigate the fit attributes which impacted on customer preference over three virtual shopping channels which included TV home shopping, Internet shopping, and broadband applications, i.e. IPTV. The fit attributes also reflected the product category contingency, which is classified based on the degree of quality assessing difficulty on the web, such as quasi-commodity, look and feel goods, and look and feel with variable quality goods. Using the collected survey data, we employed stepwise regression analysis to validate the fit attributes in the context of performing virtual shopping task via those three distinctive media technologies. Furthermore, through ANOVA test with Duncan statistics, we reported comparative intensity of the valid fit attributes across the product categories and distinct media technologies. The results validated four critical fit attributes and significant distinctions among product categories and three virtual shopping channels. The findings provide practical insights in distribution channel design exploiting digital convergence technologies.
This paper conducted an empirical study to identify the causal relationship of factors affecting the purchase intention of automobiles from the customer's point of view. This study sets the purchase intention as a result variable and constructs a causal model with brand image, product attributes (exdogenous variable), and customer value (endogenous variable) as a cause that affects purchase intention. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the symbolic image of the brand was found to have a very significant effect on customer value (p=0.01), and the external attribute of the product also had a significant effect on customer value (p=0.1). Second, customer value was found to have a very significant effect on purchase intention (p=0.01), and the functional image of the brand also had a significant effect on purchase intention (p=0.1). Third, there is a strong positive (+) correlation between the functional image of the brand and the symbolic image of the brand, the intrinsic attribute of the product, and the external attribute of the product, and also between the symbolic image of the brand and the intrinsic attribute of the product and There was also a positive (+) correlation between extrinsic attributes. Therefore, in order to increase customer value, automobile manufacturing companies have a functional value of products from a customer-oriented perspective. It is judged that every effort should be made to maintain a lasting relationship by grasping the values of customers, which are social values, emotional values, situational values, and cognitive values.
During recent decades, the number of mixed attribute products (henceforth mixed products), which have both utilitarian and hedonic benefits, has increased dramatically. Despite these products' growing popularity, academic research has paid little attention to them, and there remains a gap between theory and the real world. Hence, our study was undertaken to understand consumers' perceptions about and behaviors toward mixed products, as well as factors affecting the evaluation and choice of these products. We divided mixed attribute products into two categories: mixed utilitarian products (utilitarian products adding hedonic attributes) and mixed hedonic products (hedonic products adding utilitarian attributes). We then showed how adding different attributes affects consumers' perception, willingness to pay (WTP), and the choice of mixed attribute products compared to pure utilitarian or pure hedonic products. We conducted an experiment using a within-subject design. A total of 160 office workers and college students participated in the study. The pure utilitarian product used in the study was orange juice, and the mixed utilitarian product was carbonated orange juice. The pure hedonic product was chocolate, and the mixed hedonic product was polyphenol enriched chocolate. Results showed that consumers perceived a mixed utilitarian product to be less utilitarian, less pleasurable and more guilty than a pure utilitarian product. On the other hand, a mixed hedonic product was perceived to be more utilitarian, less pleasurable and less guilty than a pure hedonic product. Also, WTP for a mixed hedonic product was higher than WTP for a pure hedonic product, but WTP was lower for a mixed utilitarian product than for a pure utilitarian product. Furthermore, mixed hedonic products were likely to be evaluated more favorably when they were presented together with pure hedonic products, more so than when they were presented alone. Finally, when compared to low self-control participants, high self-control participants chose mixed hedonic products more frequently. The present study contributes to the existing literature on utilitarian and hedonic consumption by adding to the sparse literature on the consumption of products that have both utilitarian and hedonic purposes. Also, our research findings provide several useful implications for practitioners in related fields. First, the current study provides marketers with a useful guide for understanding consumers' perceptions of these types of products, and helps to predict how adding different attributes influences these products. Second, this study has examined the conditions that may moderate the evaluation and choice of hedonic base products and this finding will serve as a good reference for marketers of mixed hedonic products in marketing communication strategy, in-store marketing and targeting. Specifically, comparative advertising with a pure hedonic product will be beneficial for a mixed hedonic product. Also, displaying mixed hedonic products near pure hedonic products may enhance the effectiveness of in-store marketing of mixed hedonic products.
