  • Many countries are enforcing the Product Liability Act to ask the responsibility for the supply of the safe products. Thus, the safety of the product becomes one of the most important elements in modern corporate management. Diamond tool industries producing risk-high products cannot make an except to this situation. This research presents how Diamond tool manufactures in korea to respond effectively to Product Liability through construction of Product Safety Management System.

  • Product liability is the law of the manufacturer's responsibilities for the consumers' personal injuries or the losses of property resulted from defective products. In today's many countries, the product liability law are being enacted because of the safety of product use and the protection of consumer's right. In korea, the product liability is going to enforce on July 1, 2002. Though the construction of product liability response system is urgent situation, domestic manufacture company's PL response system is not nearly prepared in present. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to discuss the Quality Management's importance and the PL countermeasures by presenting the difference of PL response system construction degree by the Quality Management Maturity degree

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the correspondence level to product Liability in the enterprises. The results of this study are to offer basic information for a planned manufacturing system for safety products. Especially important things are build up the foundation of system and abide by it for safety products. The producer and supplier(distributors) of the products should satisfy the increasing consumer safety needs. This survey show us that manufacturing the safety products is important factors for korean enterprise management. But, in the reverse, neglect to take appropriate measures promptly.

  • It is hot issue to get the competitiveness of product through reliability-growth as well as availability and safety in almost high-technology industry including military, chemistry, nuclear, telecommunication, transportation service and so on. In advanced countries, worldwide leading companies have tried to improve and develop high-reliability product as well as reliability management system(IEC60300). We investigate reliability certification systems for product and management system. Additionally, we study the feasibility on the adoption of dependability management system(IEC60300) by empirical survey on companies with product-reliability certification(R-mark) in Korea.

  • The activities of managing and controlling the configuration of a system component over its life cycle are critical tasks in developing a high safety system as well as general system development. These configuration management activities should be defined through the management plan at the beginning of the life cycle, and should be performed continuously and systematically until the end of the project after the system or product development is completed. In this study, the configuration management process applied in the development of high safety railway signaling system was introduced and an efficient application proposals of it was proposed. In particular, configuration management through the establishment of a configuration management system based on computer tools is one of the important activities of maintaining the configuration integrity of the system or product.

생활속의 소비자안전확보를 위한 소비자안전관리정책의 방향 (Directions and Suggestions for Consumer Safety Policy in Living)

  • This study includes definitions and major issues relating to product safety, and reviews about product safety laws of Korea and of other countries. In addition, this study suggests several ideas for a future governmental policy concerning product safety and the government policies to guide in securing consumers' safety of products. First, we need to set up consumer safety policies and laws dealing with complex consumer safety issues and to integrate existing laws for the safety of products. Second, opening a consumer safety agency and training workers who have relation to the safety policy, as a profession, are necessary. Third, it is required to redefine the product safety guidelines, strengthen the safety policy and to minimize safety regulations by the government directly. Fourth, each product of the safety management policies must be regularly evaluated and given feedback for improving its effectiveness. Fifth, information gathering, disclosing, and having a feedback system related to product safety should be rebuilt for the effective management of unsafe products. In addition, laws and the aims of product safety management being changed to focus on the consumers, control on imported products, collaboration with network and mutual-assistance systems of product safety-related agencies including international organizations and major countries and taking leading roles in the world are essential.

  • Recently, there is a rise of accident by some defective products, especially it reported that a serious fact is a defect of design causing some problem since execute a product liability(PL), people who use products have been able to bo remunerated for a damage to those defects, so responsibilities of companies are rising more and more. Therefore, companies that are obligated to manufacture a safety product, and should make preparation for PL. For solving the problem, even though manufacturers tried to make a safety product ay mixed ways, it is seldom that its safety is considered from planning a design. This thesis has suggested a way aimed at improving a safety of products through considering a stage of a plan, by searching and analyzing the design-process in to each steps.

  • In this paper, a new method of product function analysis is presented to categorize various design information generated in product development processes. In order to improve product functions, designers must understand unit functions and modified parts of products. The product function analysis (PFA) is based on the designer's understanding of product functions. The proposed PFA provides the methodology to classify the various functions systematically and understand the relation between functions easily. Using this approach, efficient design support system can be developed and used for designers to support decision-making with design knowledge.

  • Product Liability(PL) is a legal policy to deal with global competition by improving domestic industrial competitive power and to reduce the cost of defect products. The purpose of this paper is to address the state of the art solutions to dispute on PL, in reality of a frequent occurrence of global product exchange focussing on product safety that is one of the most important functions of PL and to improve solution of the product safety and reliability responsive to PL. To minimize PL exposure, manufacturers should reflect comprehensive product safety and reliability concepts in establishing PL prevention policies. Total PL prevention policies are composed of total quality management and product safety management system in respect of safety design, risk, and reliability. These PL prevention activities should be performed consistently during the total product life cycle, especially product research and development periods.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer the integrated model of the product safety management system, ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 environmental management system and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and to present its management plan. In order to cope with effectuation of the Product Liability, studies were conducted to construct an integrated system and to find strategies of companies.
