  • This paper is concerned with development of a performance evaluation model for material handling system in cellular manufacturing system based on multi-attributes analysis method. We used the AHP(analytic hierarchy process) and fuzzy set ranking methodologies to overcome the special decision problems; those of multi -objective, multi-criterion, and multi-attributes. We proposed a 3-step approaches and we developed a systemic and practical computer program to solve the problems in the proposed methods. Computational experiments are then performed to cellular manufacturing system and show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to propose performance evaluation schemes of flexible manufacturing cell using a generalized stochastic Petri net. In the competitive and global manufacturing environment, to evaluate the feasibility and manufacturability of a product in the product design stage is highly required. Through this process, all the possible problems which may occur in the manufacturing stage can be fixed in early stage. The scheme of generalized stochastic Petri net utilizing both immediate and exponential distributed transitions are applied to model a manufacturing cell with flexible machines, material handler, transporter and buffers. Performance analyses are performed based on behavioral, structural and quantitative properties. A flexible manufacturing cell is evaluated using a Petri net simulator.

  • Software reliability growth model is one of the evaluation methods, software quality which quantitatively calculates the software reliability based on the number of errors detected. For correct and precise evaluation of reliability of certain software, the reliability model, which is considered to fit dose to real data should be selected as well. In this paper, the optimal model for specific test data was selected one of among five software reliability growth models based on NHPP(Non Homogeneous Poission Process), and in result reliability estimating scales(total expected number of errors, error detection rate, expected number of errors remaining in the software, reliability etc) could obtained. According to reliability estimating scales obtained, Software development and predicting optimal release point and finally in conducting systematic project management.

  • In this paper, we studied the performance evaluation of a vehicular rear-view camera through quantifying the image quality based on several objective criteria from the ISO (International Organization for Standardization). In addition, various experimental environments are defined considering the conditions under which a rear-view camera may need to operate. The process for evaluating the performance of a rear-view camera is composed of five objective criteria: noise test, resolution test, OECF (opto-electronic conversion function) test, color characterization test, and pincushion and barrel distortion tests. The proposed image quality quantification method then expresses the results of each test as a single value, allowing easy evaluation.

  • A study for the structural strength analysis on the doubler plate subjected biaxial in-plane compression and shear load has been performed through the systematic evaluation process. In order to estimate the proper static strength of the doubler plate, non-linear elasto-plastic analysis is introduced. Gap element modeling for contact effect between the main plate and the doubler is prepared and nonlinear analysis procedures are illustrated based on MSC/N4W. In addition, some design guides are suggested through the consideration of several important effects such as corrosion of main plate, doubler width, doubler length and doubler thickness. Finally, theses result are compared with a developed design formula based on the buckling strength and general trends. The design guides, according to the variation of design parameters are discussed.

  • This paper discusses a GIS based decision support system that provides functions of prospect screening and evaluation in both technical aspects (Volume, structure, trap, reservoir and charge, etc.) and economic aspects (Net present value, Profit / investment Ratio, etc.). The decision support system has been tested in a virtual offshore exploration prospect to facilitate and improve the decision making process. The study represents a test bed for decision makers at all levels to establish prospect screening and evaluation guidelines that may be applicable to other related prospect investment issues.

  • The information matter-element system was built to assess safety of water source. Based on the thought of multiindex fusion, fuzzy matter-element model evaluating water source behavior was constructed by matter-element transform. This model can process comprehensively hydrogeological data, ecological environment, water pollution, surface disturbance, and so on. Water source safety behavior can be described by the qualitative and quantitative manners. According to the development trend of quantitative results, water source safety behavior can be expressed dynamically. As an example, the proposed method was used to assess safety status of 7 water sources in the region. The numerical example shows that the proposed method is feasible and effective, and the evaluation results are reasonable.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the structural safety of cultural altar since its bearing capacity has been questioned due to weathering damages and sectional defections. This evaluation process consists two stages; which the first is field investigation and the second is structural modeling and analysis. Based on field investigation, all of the structural members supporting the altar were carefully examined and all the findings were accounted for the development of the structural modeling using the Midas computer program. Using a 3D scanner, the weight of the Buddha statue was applied to the structural modeling. Then, according to the allowable stress design method of KBC2016, the structural safety was evaluated. Based on this result, replacements of several structural members were recommended to increase the structural safety and value of cultural property.

  • Since 1989, Advanced drinking water treatment processes began to build in Korea, especially the water treatment plants around the Nak-dong river stream due to sequential pollutant accidents. Moreover, Advanced drinking water treatment processes, ozone and GAC, are again to be built in water treatment plants around Han-river stream to control taste and odor, micro pollutants. However, there are still a lot of discussion to decide the processes to apply for advanced treatment. Thus there are still need to understand clearly on the cost evaluation of each advanced treatment processes. The cost evaluation was accomplished based on the data of six water treatment plants which are currently being either operating or constructing. Exceptionally, PAC(Powdered Activated Carbon) process was evaluated with cost estimation from construction company. The capital cost per unit volume of ozone process was significantly decreased as the treatment capacity increased. The capital cost was in the order of GAC, ozone and GAC. The operation cost decreased in the order of PAC, GAC and ozone. The total cost considering present value shows that ozone process covers 84% of ozone and GAC process for $30,000m^3/d$ capacity while it covers less than 35% for over 140 thousands $m^3/d$ capacity. Comparing GAC only, and ozone/GAC process, ozone/GAC process is more cost effective for high capacity water treatment plant.
